    Khao Soi Kai

NuNaMi Bistro is now open in the former Outrider Beer Co space in Amesbury. At the time of this posting, NuNaMi is in their soft opening phase with a limited food menu and bar offerings. The place is situated in a long deep space with the full service bar with seating to the left and high top tables & booths along the right brick wall and a few tables in the back. The balcony area above was closed off. The soft opening food menu offered a selection of Thai cuisine including appetizers (curry puffs, chicken satay, crispy pork belly, veg dumplings, coconut shrimp, roti duck, Thai sausage), noodle & rice dishes, tofu dishes, crab curry, spicy crispy duck, beef noodle soup, and dessert (mango sticky rice, ice cream). The prices are moderate. The bar offers 7 draft beers (up to 12), beer bottles (they serve Leo beer), wine, mixed drinks and cocktails. I stopped by NuNaMi Bistro for dinner recently. The place was fairly busy with most seats at the bar and tables & booths occupied. I grabbed a menu up front and sat myself at an open seat at the bar. The bartender offered ice water and I placed my order for the Khao Soi Kai ($21 plus tax), which was recommended by a diner sitting next to me. The curry puffs they were having looked good too. My entree arrived in 15 minutes after ordering. The Khao Soi Kai had a large slow cooked chicken leg, dried egg noodles in a savory rich Thai Northern style curry, red onions, cilantro, and lime. The dried noodles were meant to be soaked in the creamy curry sauce for a softer firm texture. I enjoyed the smooth and mild spicy flavors. I requested a to go container for half of this dish. For dessert, the Homemade Ice Cream ($10 plus tax) which had a frozen hard scoop of taro ice cream (resembled ube ice cream) topped with a hot taro filled puff pastry. The ice cream was not too sweet and a solid good dessert. After I was done, I got the check which was $33.17 with tax and before tip. Overall, I enjoyed my sitdown dinner at NuNaMi Bistro which was at a relaxed pace and there are no TVs here, just enjoy the food & drink and company. I will be back as the menu offerings are still growing.

New Thai restaurant in Amesbury offers fresh, light, and delicious dishes at reasonable prices with good portions. Starter appetizers like Shrimp Silk Warp and Pork Gyoza are tasty, light, and fresh. The main dish, Ba Mhee Moo Dang, paired with a Thai iced tea, was very delicious. The traditional Pa Thai with chicken was also a hit, with a good portion and made to order. The service was excellent, with friendly and nice staff. The atmosphere is pleasant, making it a good place for dinner with a great sound level for conversation.

Food wasn't great. There are better Thai restaurants in the area. But I will say the service was great.

Perfectly cooked noodles and chicken, flavorful, simply delicious, Decor and ambience are beautiful. Friendly attentive service. Lots of off street parking. We all gos our drinks and placed our orders in and my daughter and mother in law got their food. Papaya salad and chicken skin. The chicken skin was amazing especially with the sauce. Really enjoyed the sticky rice which looks hard but isn't. I ordered the Pad Kra Pao with pork but Pho came in and I told them we didn't ordered that. Then an order of crab Rangoons came which we didn't order and we list let it sit on our table and about 10 min went by and we decided to eat it since I was getting hungry. I sat there for about an hour waiting for my food then the owner came out to show me what she wrote down and we crossed everything off that came then she said it would be coming out. Another 20 min pass and they deliver my food which was wrong again lol... I laughed it off because I know they're trying but I didn't send it back since I was getting hangry. All the food was great, they just need to get a better system from taking orders and getting those orders to the chef and brining the items to the correct table. To top it off, she gave us our recipe and that was all wrong as well. Like I said the food is amazing just getting what you ordered was the hard part. I hope to give this place a try but not sure yet.

It's a cozy, clean restaurant and the staff is very inviting and friendly. The food I ordered on line was ready quickly and remained warm for my 15 minute trip home. I love dumplings and ordered both a steamed and fried version. Sadly, neither impressed me. The fried version didn't have a lot of flavor and thankfully it was greasy. The wrapping on the steamed ones was thin (which I prefer) but I didn't think the filling was flavorful. I order "Thai medium" spice to the papaya salad and chicken pad Thai and even though I can generally handle spicy food, my mouth was on fire. Both dishes looked fresh and great but I didn't get a good sense of flavor since my mouth was burning! I would definitely order each of the dishes again but "Thai mild"!

We had great service from our waitress, and even met the very pleasant owner/hostess who told us a bit more about the restaurant, menu and live music options. We did not get a chance to see the upstairs dining room, but the main floor was very nice, warm and cozy. The menu leans Thai, but I would say the is really Pan Asian. Food was served promptly, hot and delicious. I really enjoyed the Thai lettuce wraps, fresh, clean and delicious. The plate was served with just the right amount of chicken to lettuce ratio. It seems some restaurants struggle getting the ratio right, forcing you to ask for more lettuce, crackers, etc... Not here. We also enjoyed the Golden Bags small plate, which were crispy and delicious. Red Curry main entree was quite good. Heavy on vegetables with a thick red coconut curry. We saved room for dessert, and chose the Chocolate Roti. Perhaps a little bit of a misnomer, as it was two tasty roti filled with Nutella, and served with vanilla ice cream, chocolate sauce and whipped cream. Sort of like an ice cream sundae. While the menu is quite clear about it, I envisioned something more chocolatey. All good! Cocktails were also creative and delicious. We will definitely return and work our way deeper into the menu.
