This little cafe that is attached to the mall in Pittsburg Kansas was such a delight. While visiting my bonus daughter's, my friends took me here to grab some lunch before we headed out to the airport. I ordered a delicious French Dip sandwich that came with some chips. My friends also got the the French onion soup which smelled amazing. The sandwiches were definitely filling. I wish I was able to save some of it but it was so good and I was so hungry that I annihilated the sandwich. The staff here were so warm and welcoming and made sure that we were taken care of. We went during lunch time and it was extremely busy. I mean they had just opened up and there was already a line of people waiting to get in. They have a white dressing which they are known for and give you club crackers to go along with it. So you put the white dressing onto the cracker and you eat it just like that. You could add it to the sandwiches but most were eating it with the crackers. It was very addicting that I had to stop myself so I could save space for my sandwich. Don't sleep on this cafe. The local favorite that has been around for decades. The perfect place to get a great meal for a reasonable price and not have any reason to leave hungry. While the prices have had to go up over the years, the food quality has always remained the same. Finally got a chance to stop here. Not gourmet, not fancy. Their menu is simple and they do it well. Basic sandwiches, sides, soup and salads all at reasonable prices. They give you crackers with creamy Italian dressing when you sit down. This was a weird concept to me but amazingly it works and is quite tasty. Service was good and prices were great. Everyone loves the mall deli, and for most part so do I. However, this was the second time i experienced this. I guess they quit answering the phone during lunch. The phone was ringing and never stopped the 30+ minutes i was there. There was no brake in the ring. It was as if someone called and let it ring and never hung up. This deli was referred by a friend of the family while we were up working in Pittsburg KS. It's conveniently located in the Mall and has ample room for seating. The line was out the door and everyone looked fired up to be there. I realized quickly that I needed to eat the most recommended item on the menu, The French Dip Sandwich. The place really is legendary! Always a must visit when I go to Pitt. You consistently have super friendly staff members and they put out fantastic food. Been going here with family and friends since it was in the old location inside the Meadowbrook Mall. (Old age) Even got some bottles of Creamy Italian to go. There aren't many places that does a French Dip sammich as well as the Mall Deli. I got mine without onions and the bun was served toasted and crisp with a warm soft center. The beef was cooked perfectly, not even close to dry and the au jus was excellent. We finally got to eat at the mall deli. Enjoyed a Reuben sandwich that had plenty of meat. Appreciated that it was grilled with the right amount of butter and the thousand island dressing on the side. It made for a tasty sandwich. Husband had a brisket sandwich. It was also a nice sized sandwich and he enjoyed it. Sandwiches come with ridged potato chips and a pickle spear. We also tried their deviled eggs that were mildly seasoned and a nice addition. Our waitress was attentive and offered us sodas to go as well. College students sing praises about the crackers they serve with their dressing. Great food as always! We love mall deli. My only complaint is that if you, offer curbside pickup, be prompt in delivering the order. We waited 20 minutes and we could see our order sitting on the pick up counter. We called twice, no answer. I had to go inside and ask for my order. That defeats the purpose of curbside. To those that will say "don't be lazy, just go inside and pick it up" I had an infant asleep in the car. Not a deal breaker. Still love our mall deli! read more

Even though they were very busy, I was so impressed by the fast service we received...and the food was delicious.
