Stopped by to check out the menu because i heard there were new owners. I received a warm welcome. It was near zero degree weather and the soup was roasted red pepper gouda. Although i had just had lunch i got a soup to go. Soup was fantastic. Very rich and tasty. Being a soup chef myself I was totally impressed. Rates as one of the best I ever had. Looking forward to trying more soups. Im intrigued by the taco burger. If the rest of the menu is on same level as the soup this place is a winner big time. Pittsburg KS is lucky to have this place. Best wishes to the newer owners.

Stopped in town to see my daughter and she said we should try this place and I'm sure glad we did. The service was outstanding and the food so fresh too! Very relaxing whether inside or out. It was nice to be outside and people watch. My wrap was very good and my daughter had the pulled pork sandwich and was blown away at how good it was. Make sure to stop In here for at least a cup of coffee- they won't let your cup go empty either.

My friends and I stopped in on Saturday evening for dinner prior to the Firework show. The…read morerestaurant was not far from our Airbnb and it was easy to find-it was located in the downtown area. We parked across the street and walked over funny enough with another group so when we entered they thought we were all together. The Hostess told us it would be a few minutes for our party(4). We were seated in the bar area at a table that had a long booth seat down the wall and then 2 chairs. The vibe of the restaurant was cool, it was kind of dark and had cool lanterns in the tall windows, black and white posters of Pitt State Gorillas throughout that were fun. The was a lounge area in the back with a couch/chairs to sit and hang out while you're having drinks. Our server was friendly and greeted us promptly. She recommended a drink when I asked her which of the two I was contemplating-I went with the basil lemonade. My friend's drinks were a Moscow Mule, Amaretto Sour and a Paloma-we all enjoyed our cocktails. For dinner I went with the Steak Frites, which was delicious! My friend's dinner-1 had the crab cakes(app)with a side salad. 1 had the club sandwich and lastly one had the pork chop dinner(which looked amazing) We all had a bite or two of the crab cakes which were fantastic! Over all we all enjoyed our meal and the vibe of the restaurant. I would recommend trying this place out if you're in the area.

Hard to rate which was worse, the service or food…read more Both were so terrible that we actually wondered if we were on a local candid camera show. Our appetizers came after the food. The mozzarella sticks were so burnt / overcooked that cheese had mostly leaked out. The dynamite shrimp was barely lukewarm. When we mentioned this to our waitress, she said that we couldn't get our money back (not that we had asked) because we had tried it, but she could bring new. As we were 40 minutes into our visit, we declined. My friend asked for a roll, pointing to the menu and stating that his meal came with one. Again acting like we were trying to pull a fast one, the waitress declined telling us first that I brought you one when you sat down and then said "well I think we are out anyway." Salt, butter and a refill all were obtained by me, when after asking for (and not receiving after 5 or 6 more minutes), I went roving the dining room looking for anyone else to help us. My friend asked for lean brisket, and was punished for the request with a heap of fat that had a little meat attached. He did not eat one for full of that chewy mess. $82 later and we are heading somewhere else to get a dessert and just call that dinner. When we paid, we were asked "how was your dinner?" We we said "not good" , her answer was simply "oh no... well... here your bill, sign here." Recommend anywhere else.

Been a year or so since last visit. First notice was no upgrade to restaurant. Actually should be…read moreclassified as a high price dive bar. The place is kind of a dump. And oh boy, prices are way more expensive. Most steakhouses Dont even have chicken fried steak on the menu. But at Jims it went from $16 to $27. I got invited to go, not my pick. At $27 it was one of the cheaper options. The burger was $17, and fish sandwich was $19. And they come with nothing. To add fries they are $5 for off the truck frozen fries or $8 for "hand cut " fries. A baked potato is $10. Those prices may not be shocking at all fine dining restaurant, but Jims is just an overpriced dive bar. BTW, the chicken fried steak was huge. Impressive on the plate. I made sure to have the gravy on the side to not make the fry soggy. The fry was soggy and lukewarm warm in temp. Lack of seasoning and no crispness is best description. Side salad was something you would expect at a diner. Worst part of the iceberg lettuce. Highlight was the baked Idaho baked potato. Problem is they brought me cold to fozen butter in foil and very cold sour creme. I spent 10 minutes building the potato they could have spent a little time trying to wow me. Wouldn't matter, you could order the flagship $70 porterhouse and would end up with the same deal. Jims is an overpriced dive bar masking as a high end steakhouse
