Food was so so. We both got burger, mine with a GF bun. At $17 and $18 respectively, fairly affordable. Didn't charge extra for my GF bun which was either an oversight or not ? Fries were fine, burgers were not great. Patties were inconsistently cooked. Mine was well, wife's was pretty rare. Bacon was barely cooked. Had a definite Sysco feel. Kind of odd flavor. Neither of us finished our burgers. Wife's tougher pretzel bun led to lots of burger sliding out. Not a lot of appealing GF options so probably won't return read more

Mallard's is such a beautiful place for outdoor dining on a sunny day, even if you're not a huge fan of golf. It's tucked in a quiet pocket at the nine hole, and the view is GORGEOUS. We go here pretty frequently and it's not unusual to see deer having a snack on the green. Something is always blooming here. It's lovely. In cooler months, the indoor restaurant / bar works, lots of windows brings the heavily treed vibes inside. A nearby fireplace gets roaring when it snows. Awesome ambiance. My favorite food items on the menu is DEFINITELY their shortribs, halibut fish & chips and the resort cheeseburger. Yum! My Daughter enjoyed their salmon ceaser salad today. Nicely cooked & a good sized serving. Staff is always kind and attentive. **Not sure why their rating is so bad as of today (8/19/2021), this place deserves a chance. I was expecting the worst after reading the reviews, but the fish was white, flakey and the batter was cooked to crispy perfection. We were staying at the Resort at the Mountain and our room rate included a continental breakfast; problem was they stopped serving the continental breakfast so they gave us vouchers for breakfast at Mallard's. I never expect much in these situations, but of the three meals we have eaten in this area, this one was by far the best. We both had a simple eggs, potatoes, meat and toast breakfast of which I gave my bacon to my husband. The eggs were cooked perfectly to order, the potatoes were not greasy or overly seasoned and they had quite a few options for the toast. Even if we didn't have a voucher for breakfast tomorrow we would definitely return. read more

Do. Not. Eat. Here. After reading other reviews & seeing the dilapidated condition of the building interior, we were not expecting a stellar meal but what we received was beyond horrible. Cheap food is an understatement. Wilted lettuce, half over cooked half uncooked onion rings and the saddest excuse for fish & chips I've ever seen! Spouse spent the night throwing up. I am sure this place was lovely before Covid shutdowns took its toll but sadly, even though the ONE server who was working was very kind, I can not advise you to run away enough!! Also, they are working off a menu of mostly fried food with maybe 10 items. You have to go inside to order & (in our case) wait 40 minutes for food. Stopped by on 9/5/21 after golfing. Ordered beer and food. After waiting over 45 minutes, went to server to check. Was told they were the only one working and needed to work behind bar and couldn't get out to deliver food. Asked if we could just have our food credited because we needed to leave and with a little attitude agreed to do it. 2 weeks later it's never been credited and the resort won't respond to my email request. Obviously under staffed, but if you can't provide the food service at all, you shouldn't be taking orders. And it would be cool if they could at least honor the credit. read more

Ugh. I've learned over the years that I shouldn't expect much here. Yet they have a monopoly so there really aren't other places to turn to so I keep coming back when at the Resort. This time, I found the layout of the cafe changed and not for the better. All of the seating was placed right when you walk in - very odd. The side room, which previously had dining seating and was much more pleasant, was just filled with big couches this time. As usual, the service was SO SLOOOOOOW. We got our food and it was ok - burgers were fine and the fries were good (though it was a small portion). Prices were pretty steep for what you get. Staff were friendly enough but just didn't seem very with it - almost like they were brand new and didn't know how to operate. They really need to step this place up. Requested no cabbage on my food, everything else was ordered off the menu without changes. My son got mac and cheese and fries instead of fruit as listed. Also did not get his juice with meal as he was supposed to. When they brought out his fruit, their was a hair in it. My food came with cabbage. She brought it back when I mentioned it and it came out with lettuce instead of cabbage, rather than no cabbage. (I guess possibly my fault for not saying no cabbage and no leafy green replacements?) By the time my food came out, my wife had looong finished her meal. Also, there were like 5 ants crawling on the table... Well, we were pretty disappointed with our experience. Upon arriving, it was confusing where we were supposed to go, finally someone saw us and told us to go find a seat. We walked outside and picked a table. It took about 8 minutes before someone came over to bring water. There was one waiter to serve and bus 6 tables. He was completely swamped and it showed in his attitude and service. Apparently there's been quite a lot of turnover in management. 30 minutes after ordering, our food arrived. The appetizer showed up with the main course. There was no refills offered of any of our drinks and we didn't dare call the waiter over as we watched him scramble to get to each table. The order ended up being incorrect and the fries were soft, almost soggy. The view outside is beautiful and that's probably all they have going for them right now unfortunately. After we were seated with our three kids under age four for 20 minutes is when we were told it would be 30 minutes for food because the tickets are cooked one at a time, in order. We saw two other tables that sat down after us have their orders taken before us. So we asked if we could just get yogurt or a piece of bread quickly, since a toddler hunger riot was about to ensue. "No, our chef would still get out the yogurt once he gets to your ticket." To get quantitative, there were two couples and a family of three outside and another family of three inside before us waiting for food... so if you're considering eating here on a Saturday in the summer, expect to wait 50 minutes for every 10 people before you. We drove a block down the road and had the most delightful pastries and donuts from the bakery and fed the family for $12. So I guess thank you, otherwise we wouldn't have found that great bakery! read more

Pathetic. This is a resort. You make your living by creating good customer experiences in the hopes that they become repeat customers and refer others to your resort. This restaurant on the golf course has bad food, and worse service. I am guessing the people they use for waitstaff are actually the food service people for the golf course snack shack. None of them acted like they knew anything about actually waiting tables. Nor did I get the impression that they cared one way or the other. Food was expensive considering the poor, poor quality. Sunday morning in late summer should be your 'A' game day. Felt like they had the practice squad in. Everything was bland and had that texture associated with sitting around too long before being brought to the table. My toast actually came out cold. Not cool, but cold....like they made it when I ordered and let it sit on a plate while they cooked the rest of my meal, and let THAT get cool before bringing my almost cool omelette and cold toast to the table. Our waitress was obviously put out that she had to come in early for the burden of diners, when she probably had a hard day of handing people hotdogs and chips ahead of her. The concept of how earning a tip works was clearly beyond her. We could see our waitress in back drinking coffee and complaining to everyone in the back. She was gone so long we finally asked the only waitress who seemed to want to work if she could just get our bill for us since our waitress didn't seem inclined to come out until her coffee was gone or her shift got over. STAY AWAY!! My husband and I decided to try Mallards because they advertise having the NFL ticket. First off there were only 2 TVs so good luck on watching your game. Second, when the bartender finally came over to take our drink order (20 minutes after seated at least) he acted like it was an inconvenience. Third, the manager was sitting at the bar watching the game and when a customer asked for help he got up and said he was busy. Fourth, we had to refill our own drinks. Pepper, we were then given some kind of artisanal, more expensive, root beer! And again we brought attention to the mistake and were then finally told that they do not have dr. Pepper... This happened every time we came here during our stay at the Resort on the mountain. And just like the resort and the other restaurant available to us up there: inconsistent food preparation and presentation. Overworked and confused staff. The food was good. We came here three days in a row because breakfast was included in our hotel stay. We found the service to be very disappointing and inconsistent. We experienced decent service the first day, and horrible service the second day and the third day. There is no Front of the House management - we waited over 30 minutes to be seated when there were many empty tables waiting to be cleaned. Other patrons ahead of us were so frustrated they just left. On our third visit we waited over 10 minutes before ordering our food and another 15 before we got our food--and was not prepared correctly. I should also mention that we ordered room service for dinner one night and our ravioli was so sweet and creamy we found it to be inedible. I'll stop short of naming names, but if this were my restaurant I'd be more than a little concerned about staff that exhibit such a poor attitude to people paying the rent. There haven't been any reviews for a while and the restaurant changed ownership 5 months ago. However, I'm disappointed to say the current average rating is accurate. I'm giving 2 stars for the 2 out of 5 meals we ordered that were good - the French Dip and Berry Salad. We had to send the pulled pork back because it was burnt, the blackened salmon should've been sent back and the macaroni and cheese didn't come out until the rest of us were finished eating and was mediocre. Our overall experience felt very unprofessional, not in line with the "resort experience" at all. A lemon with a bug on it, a dirty glass, a forgotten meal order that wasn't verified until other dishes were being served, and when the check came, I expected a comp'ed meal or beer for all the issues, but nothing. It just seemed like they didn't care about our experience. I would recommend the management take a hard look at how they want this restaurant/bar to tie into the rest of the resort before recommending it to guests, as they did with my family. read more

OMG stay away. Ate there last summer and it was outstanding. Went there last night with my wife and two daughters. Place looked deserted. Seating was terrible. Food was so bad. We ordered fish and chips w/siracha tartar sauce, chicken strips and bean burger. My wife and I "upgraded" to garlic fries. I got my order and it was laughable. My fries were the same as my daughter only with a minced raw garlic clove. Everthing appeared to have come from the freezer aisle at Freds. No siracha (which was listed on the menu) and to top it off the one inviting looking seating area is near the bar and we were asked to leave because of my daughter's age. The next room with a fire place etc literally has a pool table and arcade games. Then we arrived at our table in the deserted part of the restaurant. We saw the server maybe 4 times who was nice but unavailable because we were seated in another wing. I live down the street from this place and frequently eat at area restaurants. Not here again. We came here on the hottest day of the year. In an effort to escape the heat we ate inside although seating on the patio looked nice and would have been the better choice. I get they are up on the mountain and might not need AC very often but it was HOT in the dining room. Service was slow and I think the forgot our food but once we got it we did like the food. I had the blue cheese bacon cheese burger and fries. My wife had the home made corn dogs. It came with two huge corn dogs. Ate on the opening night for winter dining available on Thursday-Friday. We had the steak special and blackened salmon on Caesar salad. Steak was very good. Cooked as requested and tender. Salmon was also excellent with taste of clam chowder. Entrance into Mallards needs to be more inviting and welcoming. Very dark and gloomy. We will definitely be back. So all the previous reviews state horrible service. That's an understatement! Obviously Mallards doesn't care at all about Yelp reviews bcuz nothing has changed. The view is amazing and the food is pretty good, but it's just not worth it. Anytime I've ever been here, they only have one server. I've now been sitting here for 20 minutes and haven't even been given a menu. In the past I've been served food without being given any utensils or napkins. So I sat there and waited another five plus minutes for the server to come back so I could ask for them. Then I waited another five plus minutes for the utensils to arrive. Iced tea with sweetener, but no teaspoon...I could go on and on, but I'm so hungry and frustrated that I have to leave and find another place to eat. My final recommendation is to bring your own food and enjoy the view. No one will ever notice you. Shame on Mallards and whoever owns/runs it. read more

The bartender (Tim) was working his ass off. Never waited more than five minutes for a drink. I ordered the Korean wings somewhat hesitantly given the reviews but they were amazing. I read in some of the reviews that service was lacking in the past, that changed at least when we went, but I don't think that could make up for the food.
