Wow, this place was amazing! Three of our group ordered the prime rib sandwich, and all three said it was the best they've ever tasted. I had the patty melt on marbled rye, and it too was delicious. The service was friendly and efficient, and the food came out quickly even though we were there during a busy lunch rush. We will be eating here every time we are in Clinton!! read more

Great atmosphere. It was full the day we went for lunch but didn't have to wait the 30 min. they told us it could be to get our food. Well worth the wait. The grilled fish sandwich was excellent and so was the pasta salad, although the french fries is also good. read more

We were passing through town and wanted a good meal. We read the Yelp reviews and decided to try Mallard's Roadhouse. We had a great experience! The restaurant was neat, clean, and unique. The wait staff were fantastic - very friendly, funny, and very attentive. One of us had steak, one had seafood, and one had barbecue, and each of us loved our meals! I highly recommend this restaurant, and I don't do that very often. read more

Have had poor service in the past, but our friends liked the place til tonight. Two non alcoholic drinks served that should havehad alcohol one mashed potatoes where a baked potaoe should have been . One raw hamburger but the waitress said they serve them med well. I wanted to explain med rare but it seemed pointless. We all ran out of drinks and thank god we had water to hold us til they came back after visiting at the bar. Burnt mushrooms, seriously you could break a tooth on those things I let the hostess and waitress know how bad it was but they didn't seem to concerned. As a group we won't be back read more

We were traveling and hadn't eaten all day. Place looked local an interesting, and there were cars in the parking lot. Menu look a bit on the high side for the locale but we were ok with that. Friend got seafood sampler and I got catfish. We could not eat the food. Terrible! I'm not a complainer, and going outside a chain is always a guess, but his salmon and shrimp (that was the sampler) tasted the same. I've never eaten catfish that tasted super fishy and even asked if everything was fried in the same oil. Answer was yes for those fried foods they served. I picked at my french fries but couldn't even finish them. Pasta salad was tacky and coleslaw was made with heavy dose of horseradish that masked every other flavor. We both got hush puppies, which were small, crisp on outside and doughy (not cooked) on inside. Overall the worst bad restaurant we have been to. The plus? When I asked about the food prep, server asked what I wanted. I should have said our money back but didn't - and didn't ask for anything else cause if all the selections between the two plates were so bad, didn't believe they could serve anything else we could eat. Cute place with easy access. Staff very friendly...however, they need someone that can cook. I had a hamburger and fries. The hamburger was so overlooked and hard I could not bite into it. Way to much salt and the pepper burned my moouth. The fries looked dirty. I don't like crunchy fries and peppered to death. My husband had the catfish with slaw and hush puppies. The fish was so-so and the hush puppies were burnt. They were the color of a chestnut and hard as a rock. The slaw was packaged slaw with a dollop of thousand island. I sat close to the kitchen. The place had about five tables of people. I never once heard the cook scrape the grill, so he obviously just cooked everything on top of each other, which accounted for the extra stuff on the outside of my hamburger. Also while using the restroom I noticed a sign...All employees wash hands before returning to work. The sink was black and it showed no water spots or any water droplets anywhere..looks like it had not been used in a while We won't be returning read more

Been there twice. Chicken sandwich first time was ok. Fried chicken was not. Very small pieces and rest of food came out cold. Server was attentive. Beautiful decor. Owner was there, not really busy, but made no attempt to greet us or ask how our food was. People next to us had to return dish to kitchen as it was prepared wrong.. We were in Clinton on business, Mallards was recommended to us for their bacon cheeseburger so we decided to stop there for supper. It was Friday night, we heard live music coming from the building and thought the crowd would be rowdier than what we would consider pleasant, but surprising it was not! Granted , the music was loud, but not too loud you couldn't communicate with one another, it was a mix of old and new country, and classic rock, it was great! We also really liked the decor, right up our alley. Appeared very well staffed, our waitress was attentive and friendly. We ordered the bacon cheeseburger and was not disappointed , it was FANTASTIC! That's saying alot because my husband is picky when it comes to cheeseburgers. We will definitely go back! read more

Although the building is beautiful I was not impressed with the food. The first time my boyfriend and I went in I had the home cooked fried chicken. My chicken was completly cold and was my veggies. I had to send my entire dinner back. My boyfriend had the porterhouse house steak and it was very tough. The prices were very high for the portions you recieve. Our wwaitress was not attentive and didnt know anything about the food they had. The second time I had the seafood platter and my fish was not good and had no flavor. It came with pasta salad and that was good. I was not happy either time and will not be back. read more

Three strikes and their out. First meal, substituted things on the menu without asking, hamburger cold and pink in the middle. We were excited to stop by after hearing so many good things. The place was super busy on a Thursday night. They were out of their tenderloin, the reason we stopped. That was ok, we decided on other food. Initially the service was good, the hostess seated us right away, and brought our drinks. Then things quickly went down hill. We noticed 3 hostesses just going table to table talking to friends. Our waitress came over, took our order, and then we didn't see her again until well after our food came. We waited 25 min for 3 sandwich orders. My husband wanted a burger med...it came over well done. My fish sandwich was ok, my daughters chicken sandwich ended up being fish, after we all spent time looking at it, tasting it, and smelling it. We could not figure out what it was, no smell, flavor...but it flaked like fish so we figured that's what it was. I had to flag down a waitress for more water, and ask for ketchup...she did fill my water, never brought ketchup. When I told her thank you, she simply said "yep"....then ran off to talk with friends....we didn't even have time to tell her the sandwich was not right. Then after we were done our waitress finally came over and said, oh gosh, they never brought your ketchup? Then we were able to tell her about the sandwich. She said she would take it off the bill, since it was not eaten, but picked apart since we were trying to figure out what it was. 20 minutes later we still did not have our check. I went up to ask someone, once again the girls were not very nice and just ran off and talked some more. Our bill was finally fixed. We paid $19.29 for 2 meals that were not good, my fish had no flavor, my husband burger was way over done....and they did take my daughters meal off. I left a $20.00 on the table because we could not wait another 20 min for someone to come over and get our money. I always tip well, my family owns a grill/pub out of state, I have waitressed....you tip well for good service. Even if the food was bad, I would still tip well, as it is not the waitress fault for the food being bad. We always give a place 3 trys, but I think we will just pass on this place. While our waitress was nice, the other young girls were all rude to us. I thought maybe it was because we had just played a High School game against Clinton and our school won. We all had on our High School spirit wear. Looking at other reviews many seem pleased. I hope someone from Mallards reads this and does not take offense, but asks about it, I am sure our waitress remembers since it took her some time to fix our ticket. read more
