The pulled pork sandwich was very moist, and the sauce was slightly sweet without being too sugary. The tenderloin sandwich my wife had was "a huge, perfectly cooked, delicious tenderloin". The atmosphere of this location is absolutely delightful but the same cannot be said about the cuisine. I ordered the half pound cheeseburger with fries and was disappointed from the first bite. The burger was burnt and the bun was cold. The fries were the saving grace of the meal, although they were nothing too special. For a small town restaurant this place was pretty good! Their menu looks awesome, I wish I could have tried more! Their appetizers looked amazing, their bar was fully loaded, it all great looked great! We ordered the chicken fried chicken and I must saw it was one of the best I've had. Their menu described it as fried chicken without the bone and they couldn't have said it better. It was fried to perfection in a one of a kind batter. Served with mashed potatoes and green beans! Stopped in on the way to Springfield MO. This place is a little gem on Hwy 7. We shared a giant well seasoned pork tenderloin (one of the best I've ever had) and an order of fried mushrooms. They were very crispy and well seasoned as well. Sandwich cane with fries which were crispy and delicious. Definitely stop again when going through. read more

On one of our many trips between KC and Springfield we finally gave this place a try. We parked up front but noticed there is a lot more parking in the rear. Leaving the main lot was a bit tricky so recommend parking around back. On entry we were greeted with a very well put together dining/bar area. 100% rustic cabin feel. The place was full almost to capacity but lucky for us a table just opened up. Get our drinks ordered, check, food order in check, and and a short while later we had our food. I went for the BBQ chicken sandwich. Smoked pulled chicken on a bun served with baked beans and fries. The lady had the bacon bbq burger and fries. We both really liked the pulled chicken. You could tell they know how to make it. Beans were ok, but nothing special. Fries were out of a bag and a-ok, but again nothing special. The lady loved her burger with its fresh toppings and 1/2lb patty. The thing she remembers liking the most was the spicy mayo on top. Almost went for an appetizer but after asking the hostess if any were made in house we were discouraged that most came frozen. There was an in house fish app but we passed and focused on main courses instead. The Good Great BBQ Pulled Chicken Spicy Mayo hit the spot Atmosphere is nice The Bad Was hoping for more homemade option but there were plenty to choose from. Hmmm...thought this was a steakhouse, but it is a roadhouse. My husband got the pork tenderloin, it was ginormous as they are required to be. It was quite good though. I got the sirloin that was supposed to be 8 oz., I have my doubts. And you know it won't be medium rare, as ordered, when it is a half inch thick. It was lucky to have a faint pink aura and it tasted over marinated as well as overcooked. My potato was ok, I got the non -loaded, so that meant two butter packets and a packet of sour cream. Not generous. I don't know what happened to our waitress, we saw her twice, but not the last half of the meal. We had to flag down the hostess after waiting 20 minutes for the check. The good part was, it was very reasonably priced. I'd eat there again, possibly, but not worth the long drive for us. read more

Best porterhouse I've ever had! Great colorful house salad. Huge filet portion, perfect sear, lots of flavorful seasoning, juicy, marbling was spectacular, move over angus! The fries were awesome! What a great place to pop in while driving to our destination. We have driven by this place several times but unfortunately for us they were closed. But tonight we were lucky and they were open. The place is decorated like a cabin in the woods. Very clean and had plenty staff for a busy night. I ordered the boom boom shrimp tacos and my man ordered the three cheese cheeseburger. The tacos were so tasty and as my waitress said had a kick to them. Great flavor. Both dishes were very tasty and had great flavor. Two dinners and we both had 2 beers was under $40. Been driving by this spot for years on my trips to KC from SW MO. Finally had some time to kill and an appetite on this trip through Clinton MO. Walked in the cabin like/hunting lodge motif to be immediately greeted by a smiling face and sat in a nice private booth. Server showed up right away took our drink orders and while she went for those my better half decided in the fried chicken sandwich and I decided on the Mallard's world famous pork tenderloin sandwich. Took about fifteen minutes and both arrived exactly as ordered. Bottom line, I didn't leave a crumb on my plate and my wife is working on her last bite as I type this. My family stopped in for dinner at Mallard's at 8:30 on a Friday night. There were 19 of us and they were able to accommodate our large party. Typically, with a large party you can expect to receive less than par service, food that does not come out together and in general a less than satisfactory experience. We were there for over an hour and as soon as a table emptied, it was filled again with new patrons so I knew they turned their tables quickly which spoke volumes to the management of the servers and the servers' work ethic. The food was DELICIOUS and our server stayed on top of our needs. Most all our food came out at within a couple of minutes of one another. They got our orders right and everything that was supposed to be hot, was hot. I don't know how they did it. The chicken sandwich, fries and beans were fantastic. Many others in my family had different dishes and everyone commented on how good the food tasted. We were pleasantly surprised when the final bill came. I would definitely go back. read more
