The pier-ish area on the water isn't suited to fishing and the water is too dirty anyway. There are no safety rails adequate for children, and it's a place to walk at your own risk. The playground is okay as something for kids to do. There isn't much shade nor comfortable places for parents to watch. The large pavilion used for the farmers market is a field away from the playground so it's no use for parents. We attended an Easter event post-Ahmaud Arbery's death, during the Biden administration, and it felt truly diverse and positive for all. Recently, we attended the NYE Shrimp Drop during the Trump administration and it felt like a redneck fest with a creepy backwoods white band, and Trumpy-looking scary white people all over with sour faces. There was no sign of the shrimp nor promised bounce houses. Very few people were there, and NONE were non-white. It felt like Deliverance and we got the he!! out! Could not have been more repulsed. The park is a community facility. Local government should have a better grip on these "community" events, especially after their scandalous reputation for having DA Jackie Johnson enabling all the dirty southern racists who crawl out from under their local rocks around here!

There is a playground and a waterfront promenade. The crowd was sparse and a tad sketch. There are a handful of local businesses you could walk to on the town's main stretch. Having said all that, there are some rather spectacular waterfront areas not far away, so anyone seeking a view may have better luck elsewhere.

Both courses are well maintained, the scenery is gorgeous (who doesn't love Jekyll?) and the person behind the counter was extremely helpful and friendly. After grabbing our clubs and color coded balls (pink, purple & teal of course!) We chose the beginner course. The best part on this 90+ degree day you ask? The beginner course was pretty shaded with covers making the heat way more bearable. Each spot had an adorable feature either beside or to golf through some were quite the challenge! We had lots of laughs and tons of fun trying to get a hole in one which by the way only one of us was able to make (all I'll say was that it wasn't me or Bob who made it!) 10 out of 10 it's a must stop on any Jekyll Island trip!

The beach had two significant problems going for it: first, the tides run right up to the dunes so it's hard to go anywhere at high tide, and second the surf fishers make it tough to walk. I ran into a line in the dark where I could even see that a pole had been set up. It boggles my mind that these things are legal in places where people walk and swim. The beach itself was a decent quality, if not world-beating affair. It was just more crowded and less easy to enjoy than I'd hoped.

Many of them are dog friendly but be sure to check. During peak season it can get $$$ Driftwood beach and the pier are two of my favorite places on the island. The ruins are also a neat place to hike. I have posted separate reviews for all the places I've really enjoyed in the island. The food on the island is a mix of delicious and let downs. Be sure to check out some of the restaurants that are not right in the town village part. The locals tend to avoid them and after my last couple of visits I will too. There are a lot of repeating flavor profiles on the island of seafood obviously Overall this place is pretty amazing and worth checking out.

The horses were well trained and easy to ride, the guides were knowledgeable and gave us fun facts about Sea Island and the surrounding areas (we had Noel on Christmas Day), and the scenery was beautiful. We rode through the marsh to the beach. It was low tide so the beach was huge and gave us plenty of room to space out. The sand was blowing across and almost looked like snow! Two things I would improve; it would have been nice to be able to trot or Gallup for a minute when we had ample room to play, and having someone to take pictures while on the beach would have been nice as well. The guide said they were not allowed and it was hard to do it while riding. What a wonderful Christmas ride!

I had only been on about 5 trail rides before this one, always feeling a bit nervous because of one bad experience. However, on this ride, with the wonderful instruction beforehand by the guides and the sweet, calm, well-trained and cared-for horses, I felt totally comfortable and truly enjoyed every minute of the ride. The guides were absolutely wonderful. They were professional, did a great job matching us with the right horse, and put safety first. With one guide leading the pack and another bringing up the rear, we had an incredible ride through the marshland and beach. It was such a peaceful and beautiful ride and one that we will never forget. I highly recommend!
