I highly recommend this store for running and walking shoes. They have a huge variety of shoes and showed me 5 pairs based on the foot scanner and my running/walking requirements. They also offer custom insoles for $120, which is overpriced, but might provide a better fit. I spent over an hour there and they were very patient with me. My sales associate was Spencer and she was wonderful! They also have lots of street parking there even on a Saturday! read more

I tried to purchase some new shoes. I've bought a few pairs from this location as I go through about a pair a year. I wanted to try a different style on then my usual, but told I was unable to try anything on unless they scanned my foot. Really I just wanted to buy the shoes I normally get. The curly haired lady was so rude and adamant I had to scan my foot I could not believe it. I don't need my foot scanned I know my size and what works. Plus I've already had my foot scanned before so no reason to do it again. Thanks to the lady I just left without purchasing anything. I'll be taking my business elsewhere from now on. read more

Most customer service staff are knowledgeable about the running shoes and can tell you a lot about how you walk or run to help you find the best shoe that fits. Don't go with the look of the shoe so much as how it makes your feet feel. You don't know until you run or walk in them. The value goes a long way. Of course if you are an avid runner you will go through more pairs but it should last a good while and most shoes are made well. read more

I bought some running shoes at this location about a year ago, I must of signed up for some type of membership because this week my credit card flagged a $49.99 charge from this Road Runner in Solana Beach. I called to cancel the membership and it's all taken care of but I feel like there something strange happening here where I wasn't told what this membership would cost because I would've never signed up for a membership that costs $49.99 a year for a running shoe store. I don't buy running shoes very often so I have no need for a membership and I frankly don't remember agreeing to sign up for it, but it was a year ago so who knows. It's just strange. read more

I came in and was surprised to see this store being much smaller than the main one I go to, however I still had a good experience. Jeffrey helped me and did a great job. He asked me questions about what types of things I like and don't like in shoe comfort, if I have any physical pains in my body, and other related questions. Based on my answers it lead me to a "Max Cushion Stability" shoe, so Jeffrey showed me all the options of that they had. He also got me set up with custom inserts (expensive though). In total, walking out with a pair of shoes and inserts cost me $268!!!! YIKES. VERY EXPENSIVE BUT STILL WORTH IT. My ankles roll inward a lot (pronate) when I walk, so getting shoes and inserts to help this will hopefully lower my body pain levels. I'll keep you all updated on how it goes...I had to order the shoe in black and white online because they only had purple in the store, so I will update once I have them and wear them daily. read more

Credit Card Danger Beware My Bank notified me that a credit card charge for $39.00 was posted by Road Runner. I haven't purchased any shoes from them since 2016 when a very charming clerk convinced me that signing up for a membership would save me 20 bucks I was not aware that I was signing up for recurring 39.99 charge and I still don't know if I signed up for that. The clerk emphasized strongly that this was a free membership yeah right. This gets worse my bank informed me that Road Runner attempted to charge the original credit card which had been deactivated and then somehow charged my new credit card. Then they charged my daughter-in-law $39.99 to her credit card in my name. The smells of fraud to me I will never buy shoes from them again and I don't recommend anyone else buying anything from them unless you use cash read more

TLDR: Initial purchase felt rushed, but the store's customer service is much better than a corporate phone call. When going through the initial purchase/insole fitting, the person doing it seemed very rushed and distracted, which felt like it wasn't been done quite right and was a "buy our stuff then get out" vibe, but the shoes were good. Got the VIP plan, just in case. After some break-in, the custom insoles have been awesome, but the (running) shoes got spontaneous holes within four months of regular (walking) use. VIP status (for exchanging/returning) wasn't showing up on the website, and the customer service line basically said "oh, it was cancelled (without my doing so), you'll have to pay again and you're SOL on this pair." Now editing my initial review base that was based on the above. Ahem. After heading to the store I bought them from and explaining, they looked me up, instantly verified my status, and exchanged the shoes (for next year's model!). And apparently noticed I now had two accounts (that the service person hadn't) and made a note to fix the account so I'm good to go. (Kudos to Anthony.) read more

I didn't know there was a store up here in north county and I am so happy that they opened a smaller space in the San Diego area. Also don't get me wrong, smaller does not mean they have a lack of stock. Still so many options for shoes. The store is well organized and it is clean and spacious. Everyone was super friendly when I walked into the store. I spoke with someone about where I was at with my routine, what my goals were and what I was looking for. The associate Isaac was well informed and listened attentively as I told him about the shoe that I had worn in the last(which Brookes no longer makes) and what I have tried since then. He took the info about what I liked and disliked and came out with several recommendations after my 3D shoe analysis. Last time I went, couldn't get anyone to help, then when I did and purchased a pair of shoes I was told about their rewards program, in which I was not interested. After I declined the young man told me that with the savings my purchase would only be a dollar more and I'd get 10% off future purchases. Thanks for the math kid. I just don't like rewards programs and giving away my information away. I get enough spam and feel it is a liability to just give your information out to people who will not protect it. I drove 35 minutes to get to this store. I've always wanted to go here and was really excited. They close at 8pm and I got here at 725. The closing staff was extremely rude to me. They made constant remarks about how they want to go home. The older man even went and turned the lights off on me at 745 and then turned them back on. I understand everyone wants to go home but it says open till 8. I didn't just show up at 7:55. I ended up buying a pair of $150 shoes and a VIP membership that I regret buying because of how rude that experience was. I was in my car driving home by 7:52 so it's just annoying they acted like that. Extremely rude staff. I would never go back here. read more

I was referring to Patrick at Roadrunner in Solana Beach by one of my specialist that is currently working with me in getting the right side of my body back into balance. I'm also having some right knee issues so he suggested I go get fitted for a good shoe and Patrick was beyond happy to help assist me. I waited a few minutes as he was with a customer but once I had his attention, he worked with me for over 30 minutes. He had me stand on a foot analysis thing (looked like a big ipad!) as well as walk on the treadmill to check my step. We discussed thoroughly what shoe would be best and why as well as an orthotic. I'm very pleased with Patrick and his customer service. He is also a triathelete and with his experience, it comes very handy in directing customers with the right fit. This is truly a little gem of a store! I've been twice since COVID. Well, actually I've been three times if you count the time I drove back to pick up my credit card that I left behind. They were nice enough to call me and hold it safely for me for a few days. My first visit I really intended just to look around and get an idea for some new training shoes in a cute color that were comfy and supportive. The woman who helped me was so knowledgeable, and just knew so much about athletic shoes, I was so impressed! I ended up purchasing the membership and a fave sneaker of mine, the 880's by New Balance. The color was exactly what I was looking for and the fit is just right. The second time I went in just to browse some new work shoes for my waitressing job. I really should know better than to just go in to look at this point, haha. The woman helping me this time pointed me to a brand I had never tried before, Brooks. I needed black shoes for my job, and the NB 880's version of black was just not aesthetically appealing to me at all. These Brooks may just be the most perfect work shoe I have ever worn! Just the right amount of support and I love that they have a white midsole. I wore them for my shift today and they felt great. I can always tell if a shoe is going to work for me if my hips don't hurt at the end of the day, and I'm feeling fine. So big thumbs up for the Brooks Ghost. I just can't say enough nice things about this place. I am a very loyal person, so when an establishment gets it right, I'll be your customer forever. I think I'm going to have a new sneaker obsession now. All this time off work has me outside and doing so much activity. I guess that's the upside of living through such difficult times. Great help and great service! Bought the fully custom insoles (you can buy fully custom or partial). They are pricey but if you are very active worth every penny. Just lightly jogging in them feels amazing. Taylor was the representative that assisted us. She was so patient, helpful, and knowledgeable. She genuinely seemed to enjoy helping us and that made this experience pleasant stress less and worth it. I would recommend this store to anyone interested. Also they allow dogs and they were oh so sweet to my dog. Also military discount 10%. The report that they do to create your custom soles is sent to you directly so you can get them remade again using that report at any road runner store. I see lots of five stars. I would have given that too for my previous visit to this location a few years back, but not this time. Shopped with Road Runner for 25 years, and before this visit, I always had an excellent experience. On this visit, the store seemed well-stocked, very clean, and the staff was quick to help me. But unfortunately, they were unusually patronizing. Finally, when I asked about their foot analysis machines and apparently was mistaken about what they provide, the belittling behavior was too much and I had to leave. Maybe they were having a bad afternoon, but it was pretty unprofessional. As I walked out, they said I must be leaving because their store didn't have what I was looking for. What I was looking for, though, was respectful staff. I then drove to the San Diego store and of course had my typically awesome Road Runner experience! read more

SHADY. I was helped by a woman named Daisy, who I will refer to from now on as DISHONEST Daisy. Pros- she was helpful in sizing me and offering shoes options to match my preferences. Cons- she was very dishonest (we're talking, blatantly lied) about merchandise prices and VIP benefits. First, there's really no prices on any products, which I don't appreciate. I asked how much the shoes I liked cost, and she said, "They're $149, and then you get an extra 10% off with VIP membership." Ok, great. Then, I asked for the price of a bag of running socks. She told me, "they're $30, plus the VIP discount." So, I purchased the VIP discount, the shoes (that I was told were less than $149), and the socks (that I was told were less than $30). How very convenient that as I'm being rang up, I STILL am not shown any of the prices that are ringing up. I turned in a pair of New Balance shoes, because I was told by Dishonest Daisy that I'd get a $5 discount off my purchase. Still no prices shown to me. When I paid, she lied, "you're going to get $40 off your next purchase." I got home, looked at the receipt, and the shoes were actually $159 (minus the VIP discount) and the socks I was told were going to be less than $30 we're actually $39.99 with 10% off of that. How convenient that she rounded each price DOWN significantly. Also, I calculated every transaction, and there was NO $5 discount for the shoes I turned in. Then, a day or so later when I got the email, in which I was expecting to receive $40 cash for my next purchase, oh no, it was only $34. Again, very very convenient rounding and lying. My entire bill was more than $20 what I was told, and my future discount was less. I'll be returning the socks, and hopefully will be able to get the $5 off. read more

This place is the worst at customer service. Every time I come here there is nobody available to help. The place is a mess with shoes and socks everywhere. I am writing this yelp review as I am waiting for someone to help me. Someone has asked to say apologize and asked me "Do you need me to get some shoes?" I answered "yes". And his response "I'm sorry we are just really busy, I will be right with you after I help three other people". Why even ask if you can help me if you're just going to brush me off? Andrés M. gathered all the info he needed about my running routine and potential weak points, then created a digital 3D model of my feet and showed me what he was looking for in the footage of me running on the treadmill.
