If I could give them zero I would honestly. I have NEVER LEFT TO DRIVE IN EARLY BEFORE. My husband and I went on vacation here to see 28 Years Later & Till Dawn. We still have not seen Till Dawn! . There were people that were like actors, I guess, they were supposed to look like they were infected, like 28 Years Later. It was a cute idea but it was aggravating because they would interrupt you during the movie. Not scary. It was $24 for 2 people so why would you want people to bother you during this? We purchased our tickets ahead of time & on arrival realized it was a very long line of cars down the highway. We of course waited in line but other people that drove up were just cutting the other cars. We obviously didn't want a problem so we spoke up but didn't make a big thing of it. There were no staff saying anything so by the time we got in there we ended up very far back. My husband has Parkinson's & for him having people approach at least 4X each is not okay. He starts shaking if irritated, aggravated & we didn't know they would be doing that & no one said anything at the gate about it. It was very strange. Nowadays it seems sketchy because all it takes is 1 really crazy person to really cause damage or worse. I wish it was 1998 still but it is 2025 & there are more people, more physical, neurological & psychological conditions & this IS NOT SAFE. Taking advantage of people by charging $7 more to bring a bottle of water from home is NOT RIGHT, NOT OKAY & NOT AMERICAN. Please go to Lake George Drive-in if looking for one. No summer is complete without a trip to the Malta Drive-In. Admission is $12/adults and $6/kids. You have to pay a fee of $7 if you choose to bring any outside food or beverages. There are two screens and movies start at dusk. Make sure you park as close to the silver pole as possible, because they try to jam as many cars in as possible. The food/drink at the snack bar is dirt cheap, although the popcorn is a little stale, and the soda a little flat. If you want to sit outside of your car, you can pay $5 to get a boom box so you can hear the movie. The staff at the Drive-In is incredibly nice and helpful. The Drive-in itself has a charming old-timey feel. The ads and intermission videos are the ones from the 1950's. read more

Pros: 2 screens so they're showing 4 movies a night and at $11 an adult it's a bargain. Friendly staff. Grounds are clean and well maintained. Convenient location on Route 9. Cons: Food is horrible and likely cooked in a rancid seed oil like soybean or canola. This includes the popcorn and the actual butter they serve isn't real which kills the taste (Regal, Scotia Cinema and Bowtie popcorn is miles better). Bathrooms could use some TLC. The radio stations they transmit on could use adjustment and lie between other local stations which causes some bleed over and difficult tuning so if your car has a poor radio it may be an issue especially on the 103.3 frequency on screen 2. read more

My fiancé and I have been to Malta twice and enjoyed our visits both times. The staff are always friendly and the whole experience is really cool! I have always wanted to experience a drive-in theatre and finally being in the Albany area we have been able to. Bring blankets and pillows, get cozy, and enjoy the movie. :) We watched the movie out of the trunk of our car. Some people also bring lawn chairs to sit in front of their cars. Check Groupon for a great deal for two tickets & a medium popcorn before visiting. You can also upgrade to a large popcorn by just paying the difference. read more

I took my grandson and a friend to throw back thursday to see goonies and gremlins for their 1st drive in. I haven't been to one in over 30yrs when my kids were kids. HORRIBLE experience. didnt realize you now have to pay a permit fee to bring in your own snacks. I heard ot could be very busy and i should be there 45 mins early. 3 cars in line so had to waste 45 mins. which os not the drive in fault. they turned on the projector and sat through commercials and previews, then the repeated over and over and over. I finslly called to ask if the movie would ever start. theu said they were working on it and should start shortly, by now it was 45 more mins. another 30 mins went by of the same commercials and they gave up showing goonies went to gremlins. the offered refund, free passes or to watch just the one movie. seemed like over half left and got refunds. but i didnbt want to disappoint grandson so i stuck it out. I couldnt wait to leave and will NEVER go back. they should still have given refunds for all that they put us through. Npt cistomer friendly and employees can't handle issues quickly. read more

This place is fantastic! It's like a slice of the past still available for modern day enjoyment. One of the great things about being in upstate NY is that there is enough land and the right area(s) for drive-in's. There are two screens, one up front and one in the back. We ended up at the one in the back and it was a bit of a hike to the snack bar and restrooms, but not bad. If you're at the screen up front, you're pretty much right next to the either. They snack bar is very reasonable and offers the typical movie watching snacks, such as popcorn and nachos. They also have fresh made to order items as well such as fries, burgers and... deep fried oreos. I myself wouldn't go for the oreos, but lots of people were. If my metabolism were crazy fast or I was a kid, I might give them a try! Just to see what it's like. We got popcorn, I didn't have any.. you put your own buttery stuff on it. Nachos which were nachos and ok. Hamburger was tasty. French fries were tasty too. The screen was clear, the radio reception was great, the parking spaces were roomy, the intermission allowed for enough time to make a potty trip and replenish/refill snacks. The cost was super reasonable, $8.00 for adults and $3.00 for kids under 12. If you bring your own food they charge you $5.00 for having it there. I would say if you like drive-ins you will enjoy it here and if you've never been to a drive in, go for it. It's fun and we're lucky to have places like this still open and operating :) read more

For less then $10 to see 2 movies is a great deal! They have a food shop that sells burgers, hot dogs and popcorn and other things, mostly typical movie snacks. Be sure to arrive very early to get a good spot and not wait in line to get inside. When we got there 10 minutes before the screening started there was a huge line! It took us about 30 minutes to get inside and find a spot. The rules for parking are 2 cars between the poles some people park in the center of the 2 poles which makes less parking spots for other people to park. There are 2 screenings that plays 2 movies each at both screens. The sound is sync thru the FM radio station provided. There is a 15 minute break between each movie so that gives you time to refill on drinks or use the restroom. You can bring you own food at a cost of $5 I believe but they don't really check for it. Unless your munching on it at the front gate when your buying your ticket then they'll notice of course! Be sure to bring bug spray or a lawn chair if you decide to sit outside instead of inside your car. Be sure to turn your car on and recharge the car battery during the break and if the car battery decides to die they have a helper a jumper car. read more

There's a lot of good to be said about these drive-ins. The price of admission gets you two movies, concessions don't cost an arm and a leg, and there's something nostalgic about pulling up in your car, popping open a lawn chair, and watching a movie under the stars. Sadly, there are an equal amount of not so good things to be said. The bathrooms and snack bar have seen better days, smoking is allowed just about everywhere (I suppose this could be a good thing if you're a smoker), and unless you shower yourself with bug spray beforehand, chances are you'll spend the following four days scratching yourself like a mad man. The drive-ins really fail to measure up to their mall theater counterparts in terms of movie watching experience. The projector doesn't deliver nearly the same picture quality as the one at the movie theater, the audio coming out of your car stereo is a far cry from Regal's sound system, and of course there are no 3D or IMAX options. Despite not offering the bells and whistles of a regular movie theater, I enjoy coming here, especially on those summer nights that I want to be lazy and watch a movie but don't want to waste a nice summer evening laying inside on the couch. read more

I love this place. I've been going here for as long as I can remember. There's a lot to choose from at the concession stand, and the quality of the movies are great for a drive-in. However, one night I went, and they didn't do a great job at taking orders at the concession stand. They seemed to expect you to yell out your order, they didn't go down the line asking people if they were ordering any hot food. It's a simple process, so I was kind of upset with that. I ended up getting skipped over and had to let people go ahead of me to order my food. That shouldn't happen. I'm not sure why people are outraged at the new $10 price to see the TWO movies, that's $5 a movie. How can you beat that? I mean, I do remember when we used to pay by car load, then it went up to paying per person, and of course the price has gone up since then, but honestly...what do you expect when someone's trying to run a business and improve at the same time? I don't mind the $10 at all. Also, they are a very laid back place. They ask once how many people and if you're bringing any food or drink in. Give them a number, answer yes or no, and they let you by. Simple ;-) I love the Malta Drive-Ins. I've only ever had one real bad experience, the one I explained above...but I'm not going to give them a bad rating for that. There are good days, and there are bad days. My first time at a drive-in! I was anxious that by not showing up early we wouldn't get a good spot and get stuck in the back. This was not the case! It seems it's easy to see the screen wherever you're parked. Maybe it helped that the movie started 15 min after the scheduled time. FYI there were no previews shown when I went to see the Avengers. What's especially neat though is that you can pay the $9 admission for one movie and stay in position for the next screening of a different movie. 2 for 1! So... I think I like drive-in theaters better than the normal ones. I like that you can talk inside your car without bothering anyone. The sound plays through the FM radio in your car's speakers so you can have the volume at your comfort level. I like that you can put your seat back, rest your feet up on the dashboard and stretch out like you're in bed. Next time I'm bringing pillows. The snack bar at the theater is a little too grimy for my taste. I'm not terribly into the warm cheeseburger/hot dog wrapped in foil bags situation. We ended up getting a big tub of popcorn (you can pump your own butter!). I think next time I will take them up on the $5 dollar fee to bring your own food. I'll definitely be going back with a cooler full of goodies. read more

We put a couch in the back of a truck and after PJ's BBQ we went to see The new Indiana Jones and Iron man. Right at 8:30 everybody started honking and wanted their movie to start. This is a totally classic drive in, including freaky dancing clowns at intermission. There is a new screen in the back of the drive in and soon you'll be able to face your car at either one. It's not on yet, and they lost a star for that. I think that will be really great because it was packed, it can be hard to get a good spot. I would suggest going a little earlier than you think. You can bring food and pack a cooler with whatever you like. I think alcohol is against the rules, but if you keep it low it does not seem to be an issue. One $8 ticket buys you 2 movies. The second one usually goes on about 10:30. The first half hour of Indy was kind of hard to see because the sun had not gone down all the way. The screen is not ever as clear as it is on the theaters. It kind be kin of irritating to mix movies and cars. People driving around, dust, headlights. Kids are also irritating and when you are outside or sitting next to some at the drive in. read more

We went to Malta Drive-In last night for the first time to see Vacation and Minions. We started on the back screen for Vacation and then the front screen for Minions. The bathroom was very clean (older), but a bit of a hike if you're walking up from the back screen. I also got a medium popcorn from the concession stand attached to the bathrooms and it was definitely more of a self-serve style, but I had fun adding my own buttery topping to the popcorn. Since its in a field it's pretty buggy so we ended up having to close all the windows and trying to track and kill mosquitoes that got in before the movie started. I also noticed a cigarette smell when we had the windows down because smoking is allowed. If you're a smoker, I'm sure that's great for you... Not so much for me. Vacation was starting at 8:45 and we got to the drive in at 8pm though it turned out to be unnecessary because Wednesday night isn't very busy. The movie began on time and when it was over it was about 10:45. We moved to the front screen for Minions which was to start at 10:55, but the other movie (the new mission impossible) was still playing on that screen. We parked far back to not interrupt people trying to watch the end of their movie, waited and then adjusted our spot for Minions once mission impossible ended. Minions didn't actually start until 11:30pm. Luckily it was a cooler night so keeping the windows up wasn't too terrible, but we did end up having to leave the car running for some air conditioning since with the car all sealed up got a bit stuffy. I will definitely go back because you can't beat two movies for $9 per person, but I will be better prepared for bugs next time. I would say over all we did have a really nice time. read more

I love going to the drive ins in the summer. It's much cheaper than the theater and you get two movies plus they are locally owned. This drive in is well maintained and they have a good selection at the snack bar. They also have separate parking for SUVs/trucks and cars (but it isn't strictly enforced). The only thing that annoys me is they charge you $5 to bring in your own food/drink. I understand it's a tough business in this day and age but I have a problem with paying money to bring in something I already purchased and I'm not aware that any of the other drive ins in the area do this. read more

I love the drive-in and have been coming to this location since I was a kid. For that reason, I understand that the conditions for watching a movie here are going to be different than at a traditional theater, but I would hope the viewing quality of the film would be the same I went to see Han Solo on Memorial Day weekend and the film was so dark that it was difficult to make out what was happening on screen. Either they haven't replaced the bulb in the projector or the lights were turned on in the projection room. The person at the box office said they couldn't do anything about it because they weren't near the projector. Just kind of disappointing, and probably better to go to the Glen Twin if it's a movie you really want to see. read more

So much fun. Get there early for a good spot. The sound is much better than I expected and I can take my doggies. It's great for kids to get their beans out. You can meet friends and hang out. You can tailgate (without the fire and alcohol parts). What's not to love? If you can eat fast food, they have it. If you prefer to bring your own, it's worth the tiny $5 fee. ***Growing up my we used to go to the drive in theater what seemed every weekend. This place reminded me, almost to a T, of the drive in movie theater back home. I love that they haven't updated everything and how it still has that old feel to it. I will say, however, that it is pretty nice being able to tune to a channel to hear the movie instead of listening through the little box!!*** Okay, for $8.50 you can see two movies- that's hard to top and you can bring your own food for just $5! I've been here a few times and have had great experiences. The fact that they have 2 screens is pretty awesome, I just wish they were both the same size. The overwhelming amount of kids can be a bit much sometimes depending on what movie you are going to see but that's not really the fault of the DriveIn as much as it is to the parents who can't keep there kids under control. They allow you to bring your dog with and that is pretty awesome. The only issue I've ever had is in the snack bar- its very disorganized and kind of expensive ($5.75 for a popcorn). Last time we were there my boyfriend ordered chicken strips but the kid accidentally cooked chicken poppers and the kitchen manager (i think) was pretty pissed at us. She actually started to explain to us the difference between the 2 and I told her we were pretty clear with our order (chicken strips, no sauce). Maybe it was a bad night because the guy standing next to us was totally floored at how rude she was being with us (he was also waiting for food). For the rudeness I experienced in the snack bar they loose one star. Over all, its a good, cheap place to go and I highly recommend it! read more

Old Fashioned Drive Ins are pretty much dead accross America, but this family owned and operated drive in movie theater is alive and well! 30 years ago I came here as a child in the summer wearing pjs to watch a movie under the stars. My children grew up doing the same. It's a affordable family friendly summer outing. Sure each year the prices increase slightly but I don't mind paying. They have to Cover costs and you are still getting 2 movies for The price of 1 in the Cinema. While they have food available you can pay a $5 fee and bring in your own. That's what we usually do. We grab a pizza on the way, candy from Stewart's or the dollar store, or pack a cooler picnic. We still buy the speciality items like fried dough and cotton candy and pop corn just to show our support. A few years back they added a second screen and although the car sound boxes no longer work you simply tune into a radio station. They will even jump your car if you end up with a dead battery at the end of the night! The field is clean and pet friendly. You will often find families tossing around a Frisbee or football before the movie starts. I appreciate when they put the child movie first (a Disney cartoon usually) then follow it with a more adult film. We fold our seats down and The kids go to sleep while mom and dad enjoy the next showing. Definitely arrive early on a weekend or when a big box office hit is being released. And please be respectful of other families don't be loud, rude, smoking, using Foul language , blocking the screen with your hatch or car lights etc. Here is to hoping covid hasn't killed one of my favorite summer past times. We loved going to the drive in and it was q great experience. During the middle of the movie 2 employees knocked on our window. They asked to see our tickets. It was dark and my friend didn't know where she put them. When she finally found them we showed them to the workers and he wanted to examine each ticket and actually read the movie. I asked if there was a problem and he said that someone in the same car as me snuck someone in. I felt like this was rude and annoying because we missed at least 5 minutes of the movie and were so confused about what was going on. This could have waited until the movie was over because I did infact pay for each ticket so it was annoying. read more

This is a very beautiful place. Very nice atmosphere here and also very spacious. There are two separate screens 4 movies and the payment to get in was not that bad. $10 per person which is about the same rate that you pay to go into a movie theater except you get two movies instead of one and you can bring stuff from the outside in its just a $5 charge . I also wanted to let you know that the snack bar seems pretty clean and the food is very good there as well. The price is though like when anyplace is slightly higher than what you would expect to pay but they're decent just the same. On a normal day you see two movies and towards the end of the year they sometimes show triple features, which really makes the price worthwhile especially if they're three good movies if you'd like to see. The only thing that I would say is not good is they allow larger vehicles to park in front of smaller Vehicles which makes it extremely hard to see over those vehicles in the front, and sometimes they do not tell vehicles to put their hatches down so other people can see and it makes them an annoyance for the people behind them and they're not able to watch the movie because of that at least part of the screen anyway. Over although with everything that's said and done this isn't a very excellent place to go spend time with your family just to get away from the Epic struggles that happened within your daily lives. It's a good place to just find peace and serenity for an evening and watch some good movies with people that you love or even by yourself. Food is what you would expect, and what you wouldn't like a deep fried cheeseburger or Oreo. Bring a soccer ball or frisbee to play with before the movie. Really terrible experience. My family and I went to the Malta drive-in tonight for the first time. We were all so excited to go and see the Incredibles 2. It was really busy but we found a spot not too far from the screen. However, the vehicle directly in front of us had their back hatch up all the way and it was sticking up about 2 feet higher than the top of their car. We initially tried to find another spot but by that time, there were no spots left that we could find. Many people were taking up multiple spots by setting up so many camping chairs that it looked like they were having a family reunion. Some people were taking up 3 or 4 spots despite the drive-in rules clearly stating "one spot per vehicle on weekends". Well, we returned to our first spot but still couldn't see about a third of the screen due to their hatch sticking up so far. The movie was starting and my husband went to them to politely ask if they could lower their hatch. The family says they have no way to do this despite the drive-in rules being repeated on the radio stating that if your hatch is higher than the top of your car, that they have twine at the concessions stand to tie a hatch down with. The family acts helpless and refuses to do anything. My husband goes and gets them twine and brings it to them and a guy from that car balls up the twine, mocks my husband, and throws the twine down and says "complain to management if you have a problem". My son couldn't even enjoy the movie because he couldn't see half of the screen. My husband goes and complains to management which does nothing. We left very upset and disappointed that this drive-in won't even enforce their own rules, especially when they are getting complaints from customers. We don't plan on going back any time soon. A total waste of money. No one in our family could even enjoy the movie. read more

I normally love coming here and enjoying awesome movies with my family and friends. But today I had the pleasure of encountering the rule of the "Silver Pole." Apparently, if you own a car that is anything other than a sedan, you get to park in the way way back. Or try to find a silver pole which is only on the corners of every lane. We came early to get a good seat and had a kid walk up to our car the second we parked and asked us to move because they want the "bigger" cars in the back. I get it! I totally understand how frustrating it is having a big car in front of you at the drive ins. But, that's why people come early and have been coming early to drive ins- to get a good spot. So we moved our Subaru Crosstrek to a silver pole and waited until the rest of these bigger cars came in to see what happened. Well, apparently once the more cars come, the silver pole rule isn't enforced as strongly. So my bad for coming early and trying to get a good spot when we should come 5 minutes prior to the start of the movie and get whatever seats are left. Complete bullshit. Oh and that kid came back to our car again and asked us to move AGAIN and when I said we already moved for him he's like OKAY SORRY I DONT KNOW WHERE THE SILVER POLES ARE. gah. This is about 4.5 stars for me. I love this drive-in! Been coming here every summer for the last few summers (and my partner has been coming here for decades). One of the last drive-in movie theatres in the country. There is so much history here! And since it's a drive-in, you can bring your fur-baby (keep it under control of course). There are 2 movies playing at the same time (one on either side of the lot). If you get there early, you can stay for a double feature (2-3 movies playing on each screen each night they're open, one after the other). Price for the whole night is less than the price for 1 movie in a regular theatre. The concession stand has all the essentials and because it's a drive-in, everything is sooooo inexpensive. If you bring in food, you need to pay a small fee, which I'm happy to do considering how cheap everything is and the high costs of running a historic venue like this. The only reason I don't give this 5 stars is because of some of the patrons. Since this is a drive-in and the weather is usually nice, many of us would watch the movie on lawn chairs, next to our cars. The problem is sometimes there are rude people parked next to you and they talk loudly during the whole movie. Yes, this can happen in a regular theatre as well, but sound seems to carry a lot more in an open space. Tip: If you go during the summer and you're sitting outside, make sure to put on plenty of bug spray, and wear long sleeves and pants. If you don't want to get eaten alive by mosquitoes, take plenty of precautions! :) read more

Going to the Drive-in is a wonderful summer experience. For less than the price of one movie at the mall you get two relatively new movies. Sometimes they even have a movie on it's opening weekend. Since bringing your own food is 100% allowed, and we have brought in everything from a whole pizza for dinner to a variety of snacks from the store. They have a snack bar in case you want popcorn or a burger. The building doesn't look like it has been updated since it was built in 1949 but that just adds to the charm. Make sure you get there early because it is a popular place to go and it does fill up quickly on weekends. read more

I heard the ticket price went up to ten dollars. When the price went to 9 dollars and I inquired why. I was told it was to help pay for the new digital projectors. I felt that was reasonable but, now that those projectors are most likely paid for the ticket prices should have gone back down to 8 dollars not gone up to 10 dollars. Look at it this way: You can go to a place like this and really enjoy yourself with friends for $8 per person, or you can spend $8,675,214,678,517,864,521 USD per person (or whatever Regal is charging now) to see an IMAX-3D-OMG-ETC movie, where half of the assholefaces around you are talking to each other or on their cell phones or narrating the damn movie for everyone nearby, and you stick to the floor (and possibly the seat itself) from all of the shit that's accumulated over the course of the day, and some random little bastard behind you puts his feet up on the back of your seat which includes your freaking head, and... well, you get the point. One of the few remaining drive ins around. It's nice to have double features on both screens. The concessions are expensive, but that is to be expected. It's fun to go - and I used a living social deal, so it's a good idea to take advantage of them when you can. read more
