The food is decent but the owner is what will keep me away from this place. I came in to pick up food over the weekend and while his workers were wearing gloves when preparing the food he somehow thought he was above that and was touching the food with his bare hands. He also had some string bracelets (those things are so gross and collect so many germs) dangling which was brushing the food while he was touching it. I watched him rub his nose and then go on touching all the food. About 12 hours after eating the food my husband and I both had upset stomachs. Safe to say we will not be back unless there's a change in ownership. Just happened to be in Foothill ranch when we found this gem. The staff was very friendly and offered helpful information about their food. They do have wraps for those of us who are gluten-free. My husband had Toasted ~ french toast stuffed with banana puddling and blueberries on top. I wish places would make these gluten free (). I had a Chancho En Cama wrap (served with a side of pickled beets ~ cool idea~ and a side of roasted potatoes. It was more than I could eat so I brought it home and had it for dinner. My first thought was when I came on Yelp to leave a review was - why is it only 4.5 stars? Well apparently Jax L. is one picky bougie eater. Here is my HONEST review: First of all the place is very well decorated. The light fixtures, the tile, the floors, the bar stools and the tables were all a perfect motif for this place. We both got chicken and our sides were a salad, roasted cauliflower veggies and quinoa with fetta cheese, cucumbers, avocado and tomatoes. People...HEAR ME OUT!! This food was ridiculously good and HEALTHY. The meat was not served cold, the chicken actually had a great spice to it, not too hot and just flavor-able enough for any type of eater. The side salad was good and the side dishes were delicious. Now I am a foodie. I love good places with good food so its hard to get a good review from me. Let alone get me to sit at my computer to write one out. But this place had to get a 5 stars from me. My husband too is a picky eater and will only eat at a handful of places but we both loved it and will now make this place one of our regular food places. My boyfriend and I shared There's An Egg Involved with fries and Upstream with yummy roasted sweet potatoes that were like candied yams. The tri-tip in There's An Egg was sooo juicy and flavorful!! I just finished a workout next door and wanted to grab a bite. A quick search on Yelp led me to Mamón. The place looks great- outside tables as well as a nice and clean inside dining room with a bar, too. The staff is friendly and greets you with a smile. I asked for recommendations and the employee gave me several. I settled on the Pork Shoulder sandwich. It came with a salad and side of beets. Taste was extraordinary! Powerful flavors of crispy and tender pork shoulder (salty) with a dose of spicy mixed with onion. The spice was the dominant flavor but still good. The beets were interesting- a vinegar acidic quality is what jumped out the most. There was another flavor I couldn't identify but it was good and savory. The salad was tasty - cheese, oil dressing on mixed greens. Nothing special, though. I brought my own water so I didn't get a drink. The entire cost was a bit steep at just under $18 with tip for a small portioned sandwich, beet side dish and small salad. Also, this is not a full-service restaurant, but there was an option to tip 25%. Really? Is that what people expect now at a fast casual place? Crazy!! Pretty good food and service but pricy for what you get. I'll have to return to try breakfast, though. read more
