Superb customer service from Nico here, really friendly people, warm and inviting with a colorful festive interior, and stunning wall murals done by a local artist. They have a patio in the back, beautifully decorated and partially covered, the perfect spot for a meal. We got a veggie burrito to go, I specified spinach tortilla with pinto beans and cheese. Not only did it have all of that plus rice and pico de gallo, it also comes stuffed with fresh sautéed vegetable like green zucchini. Super fresh and yummy, with a reasonable price for a hefty burrito.

I was here a week after my previous visit. Boy, it was disappointing.. Service: 1/5 the young lady at the counter projected a really weird vibe, as if she was there to walk around in a beauty pageant, not to help customers with their orders. She barely responded to questions as if words cost money. Anyways, when I placed my order, instead of trying to understand what I asked for, she charged me for a Jalapeños salsa on the side. I'm someone who can't eat or tolerate very spicy food. So it felt absurd to get charged for a jalapeño salsa that I wouldn't eat. I told them that I was here couple days ago and the guy who was here gave me two salsas on the side(like every other Spanish restaurant), I just want those. And she and another lady told me, anything besides burrito is just us being generous, in a tone, that sounded like we are doing you a favor. I just paid for a burrito, so it felt bizarre. Food: 2/5 the burrito was cooked and the guy in the kitchen kept it at the counter. The way the chef kept it on the internal order counter was also weird, it rolled from one side of the counter to the other. And then it just stayed there for 3-4 mins, even though both ladies were free, they were not attending to other customers. As she was packing, that's when I realized that they were not going to add any salsa but a lot of chips. How was I going to eat those dry chips without any salsa. So absurd. So, I reminded them to give me the same two salsa like a few days ago. This is when they told me about them being generous. And I was taken aback and a bit annoyed by it. They gave me box and when I opened it at home, I realized they had taken out all the complimentary chips that they give out of generosity and gave me one cup of green salsa but no red salsa.. Ambiance: 3/4 it was fine but I am never going back again

Met up family here for lunch and it was perfect because my 2 kids were entertained the whole time by the play kitchen they had and also baby toys! Very cool that they have the space to do this in the back patio. The food was good and the service was good. The only odd thing was the michelada came in a glass that wasn't big enough for the whole beer so the mixture isn't right when you add more beer to it after? Not a big thing. Just grateful for a space that's great for toddlers! It's also close to Saint franks coffee and the Caltrain station. Everything was walkable!

Favorite Mexican restaurant in Menlo Park!! The food is always fresh, flavorful, and made with so much love. The service is welcoming and makes you feel like family every time you walk in. From the burritos to the plates, everything is delicious and beautifully prepared. Must try food and experience!

$13 for this small container of chicken tortilla soup :/

Ordered DoorDash from here today. Tortilla Soup bowl was ok, bit on the salty side and the portion was small. The Pastel Azteca was stale and hard, inedible. I would rather them have told me they didn't have it than send me something I couldn't even eat. First time getting food from here and highly disappointed! Won't be back.

    Pescado Asado

3.5 stars Mama Coco is a colorful, homey Mexican restaurant offering a menu of fresh, vibrant dishes. The Pescado Asado was a fillet of pan-roasted snapper served over a creamy yellow squash puree along with zucchini, corn, peppers, mango, tomato relish, and coconut rice. The Carne a la Tampiqueña was a variety plate that came with sliced skirt steak grilled with onions/peppers, mole enchiladas, guacamole, refried pinto beans, and red rice. Finally, we had the Huarache (meaning "sandal"), made of a fried oblong masa dough served over black bean puree and topped with cactus salad, cheese, cream, green salsa, and a choice of meat (we had the Cochinita Pibil, or achiote pork shoulder braised in banana leaves). My favorite part about the dishes was the variety of flavors represented on each of the plates, though the prices were surprisingly high for the portion sizes, and the service was slow and inattentive.

I ordered a burrito with carne asada along with one taco. Right away, I was impressed with the presentation. Everything was neatly packed, and the portions were generous, which is always a plus for catered meals. Overall, the taste wasn't bad, but it didn't completely wow me. The carne asada was decent and filling, though I feel the burrito would've tasted much better with sour cream. Unfortunately, that came with an extra fee, so I skipped it. In hindsight, I probably would've enjoyed the meal more if I ordered a bowl instead, since the flavors might have stood out more without being wrapped in a tortilla. While it wasn't my favorite Mexican-style catering I've had, it was still a solid option for a work meal. I appreciated the portion size and presentation, and with a few tweaks to my order next time, I think the experience could be better.

We ordered two Taco Trios so we could sample all of their meat options, and the asada and carnitas were easily the standouts--both were flavorful and well cooked. We also tried the impossible meat burrito, which was absolutely delicious and a great option even if you're not vegetarian. The habanero salsa was tasty but definitely spicy, so proceed with caution. Service was average, nothing bad but nothing standout either. That said, the food more than made up for it. Prices felt fair for the quality, and overall it was worth the visit. We'll definitely be returning and would recommend checking it out if you're in the area.

They have heat lamps outside if needed. We ordered: - ceviche trio: tortilla chips with three types of ceviche (camaron - shrimp, dorado - mahi mahi, pescado - fish) - pulpos salteados: octopus and calamari, potatoes, arugula, butter and saffron sauce - asado mixto: skirt steak, pork chop, chicken breast, prawns, chorizo, cactus, zucchini, onion, peppers, and tortillas The service is relatively quick, with food arriving around 10 minutes after we ordered. The fish and shrimp in the ceviche were super fresh and had a perfect level of tanginess and spiciness. The mango and avocado were great additions. The pulpo salteados was filling and comforting, with the octopus and calamari being tender, and the potatoes being boiled down to be soft. The garlic butter sauce was delicious! The asado mixto, in my opinion, is the best dish to get, since there's a bit of everything on the menu, from beef to pork to chicken to shrimp. Everything was cooked to be tender, and it was a delicious bite to wrap everything in the corn tortillas. The molcajete salsa had a perfect kick of spice. I always enjoy a dish with veggies as well, and the zucchini and peppers were great with the molcajete. While on the pricier end for Mexican food, everything was tasty and service is friendly and fast. I was stuffed this time, but definitely want to come try the churros next time!

Sweet :) Wanted something relatively fast and somewhat healthy and hearty, so we decided to go in. I ordered three shrimp tacos which I believe came with corn tortillas, grilled shrimp, green bell peppers, white onions, and some kind of salsa (green salsa & pico de callo). Delicious! There was a pretty good amount of shrimp in each taco, which I was super stoked on. Total for the three shrimp tacos came out to $19.74 (3x shrimp tacos = $5.99). Everything came out perfect and consistent. There is seating outside and plenty of seating inside. When you first walk in, you will notice the bar to the left side of the restaurant. It was clean, bright, and welcoming. The woman at the counter was straight-forward, nothing too crazy to note on. They have a $10 minimum when paying with a credit card, so just be prepared for that :) The best part is... they have self-serve tortilla chips AND self-serve salsa bar! But, when it's Cafe del Sol night, I crave the adobo marinated seafood and chipotle tequila cream sauce of the seafood enchiladas. They are served with yummy cilantro rice, diced mango, salsa fresca, and a small salad. The rotating dishes of my party include Camarones al Mojo de Ajo, the Red Snapper, Fish Tacos, and El Combo.
