The service was very slow, after we were seated we waited 10 minutes before they took our order, which should have been sooner since they were just standing around. We even looked at them several times to get them to come over, but we still waited. The food came out in a timely manner but the enchiladas were flavorless and among the worst I've ever tasted. After our meal we waited another 10 minutes and finally had to go up to the front to get our waiter's attention to provide us our check. It wasn't busy or anything, he was just waiting around and even looked and walked by us several times but never checked on us. Once he brought us our check he waited for us to pay by which we paid cash and only gave him what was on the check with NO TIP. The food was definitely ok. Nothing special. The service was not so ok. I was overcharged and caught the error. My credit card had already been processed. When the matter was corrected, I asked for a copy of the voided transaction. I was instructed that providing voided receipt copies is not their policy. What I heard in those words were that the manager was never taught how to print a void receipt. The "manager" did write "VOID" on the charge ticket and called it "a void." I wrote "steak" on the same ticket and called it a steak. He never got it, and I'll never go back. read more

We've eaten here a few times on our trips back and forth from Dallas to Houston. They have great food and good prices. It's just North of the outlet mall on the east side of 45. The place is always clean, the staff is friendly, and the service is great! This trip was no different. We stopped in for a Sunday lunch. This is one of the few places I have found that has kids eat free on a Sunday. I typically get their Pollo Rielero, if you like poblano peppers this is the dish for you. However, I was in the mood for something different, so I ordered the Pollo Brochette. This was a very tasty dish and came with 6 pieces of chicken stuffed with jalapeno and cheese and wrapped in bacon served over a bed of grilled onions. It comes out on a fajita plate sizzling with rice and charro beans. It was all I could do to finish the chicken as I had filled up on their wonderful chips and green sauce. Their green sauce is not really a salsa verde, but it's wonderful. I have found most Houston area mexican restaurants serve this type of green sauce but have yet to find it in the Dallas area. The closest I've gotten is Chuy's Deluxe Tomatillo sauce. The rice was cooked well and was not over seasoned. I didn't even try the charro beans, but they looked good and were piping hot. The kids ordered the cheese enchiladas and a burger. They really enjoyed it. I would highly recommend trying this restaurant out if you haven't, you won't be disappointed. read more

What a pleasant surprise! Delicious food, nice restaurant interior, super nice staff. We ordered the quail dish, which I've never had before. It was delicate, salty, lemony, cilantro-ey, and had a hint of mushroom flavor? It was strange but very tasty. We also ordered the appetizer sampler with the huge fried avocado, wow it was so good. Both the chicken and steak quesadillas and the guacamole were heavenly! Our waiter was very polite and offered us a free coffee at the end of the meal. Overall a surprisingly wonderful experience. Stopped in at 1pm mid-week for lunch with hubby while passing through. It was crowded but we were seated right away. Large rooms with Mexican murals on the wall that was very interesting. Normally we really enjoy this resteraunt. We are very tight on money today, but we knew that kids eat free on Sundays, and we received a free queso coupon so we thought it would be worth it. Well, we were looking at the menu and picking out items under $10 for my husband and I. He ordered something on the lunch menu and I order cheese quesidillas. We also asked about using the free queso. Our water said ok and put in the order. After we had eaten the manager came and said we could not use the free queso if we were getting free kids meals. This upset me because we didn't need the queso but we got it because we had the coupon. I asked why they didn't mention it before? He said he was sorry but we would have to pay. Then when we got our check we noticed that we were charged for a dinner portion of my husbands meal. I asked the waiter about it and he said it was because it was Sunday. Here is my issue they knew about both of these things and did not tell us until after the fact. We paid over $8 more for our dinner than we were expecting to pay. This may not seem like a lot, but when money is tight it is. I felt like they were trying to cheat us. I will not be going back anytime soon. read more

Terrible experience tonight at Mama Juanita's. We walked in and were seated promptly. From here it was downhill. The queso with meat looked like it came from Taco Bell with less flavor. Then we ordered our entrees, she ordered the 3 Amigos which is comprised of a cheese enchilada, a tamale and a chicken flauta. It also comes with guacamole, rice and beans. The enchilada was decent, the rest was flavorless and the guacamole was green paste. I had the "Special" ribs and beef fajitas. As with everything else I tasted, it was bland and poorly cooked. I assume they were trying to make the food temperature so hot to mask the lack of actual flavor. Then we got our check and had to go to the bar to pay for our food since we waited 10 minutes at the table. I didn't mention the staff party that was starting so the music was blaring and we got locked in. We will never be coming here again, and we will share our awful experience! read more

Our waiter was super friendly and attentive to us our entire visit. The food was good and there are lots of choices for various types of enchiladas, burritos etc. My husband had three enchiladas all made differently and he enjoyed them all.
