Found this TASTY lil gem on our journey back from Dallas. Looks to have several locations so that's a positive. We really enjoyed everything from the warm salsa (no green sauce offered) to the tasty (and strong) Margs. We started off with the HUGE and filling. We all really liked how they offered both a white and yellow queso option; this is a great starter to share with 3 or 4. The BYO combo offered a nice cheesy enchilada and crispy bean tostada + rice & beans. My friend was craving a meat flameado so just get ready from some super cheesiness! an authentic mexican restaurant great fun atmosphere and superb and friendly service. we truly appreciate that the enchiladas had real enchilada sauce and the chili rellanos had rellanos sauce. each item had its own authentic sauce not that red gravy that many put on everything. there were 6 of us and we all tried something different and we were all delighted with the flavors and recipes. also the margaritas were amazing. you will not be disappointed but will enjoy a tasty meal with great service. read more

Enjoyed the food. Good flavor on beans and street tacos. Margarita flight seemed to be very one note with each margarita being same with just a different flavor squirt in each glass. It was a beautiful night afternoon outside so we sat on the patio. There was a large party out there and as the meal progressed the kids started running all around, screaming, and throwing balls over us. Staff was in an out to serve, but no one addressed what was going on. We finally quickly swallowed the rest of our meal and went to hostess to pay. Staff should have politely stepped in and said that was inappropriate for a restaurant and others were out there besides them. read more

I put in an order to go for dinner and there was a bit of confusion on the phone. I went to pick up the food without issue but when I got home saw that it was incorrect and called them. The gentleman on the phone was very kind and helpful. When we went back our correct order was ready and waiting at no cost to us! I work at MD Anderson and Monarca Bar & Grill was there today for lunch! When I say good Dominican food ... I have no words! I took one bite and couldn't stop. I didn't even get a chance to take a picture. I have the stewed pork ribs, rice and peas and the plantains. Soooooo delicious and seasoned very well!! Stopped here for the first time on a Saturday afternoon based on Yelp reviews. Our group of 6 really enjoyed the food, margaritas, and service. Fresh authentic Mexican delicious food. The chicken dish with creamy sauce, spinach, and mushrooms was a large portion and very good. The meal came with the beans, Mexican rice, some guacamole, and tortillas warm and ready to enjoy. First time such a great find. We've been here a few times and the food has always been pretty good. Each time we have come in, the service is always fast and the people are really nice and friendly. I usually go with one of their fajita choices and have yet to be disappointed with any of them. On top of all that, the prices for the amount of food you get are pretty nice so this place is definitely worth a visit. read more

My husband & I have been dining at this restaurant since it was Margarita and Peppers & now it's Monarca's. The food is always consistently good, drinks are excellent but what keeps us coming back is the managers & employees. They all go way up & above the call of duty! Great place to eat little small place but friendly service great food and if you want a margarita, you go Monarca even when somehow they charge you for like that $12 margarita or something you're like why is it so expensive they know you can get messed up in one margarita and then the food is also so flavorful so delicious and it is everything you would want in your experience. Can't say I am a huge fan BUT happy hour margaritas are 2.25 M-Th! I mean you can't beat that price right!?! I had the empanadas and my husband had the mole enchiladas, the flavors were really good but the meat was really overcooked in both dishes which kind of ruined them. However the salsa was my kind of salsa and the chips were also really good. I will likely give them another try for the price of the 'ritas and the chips/salsa alone. I do recommend giving them a go, everyone's taste preferences are kind of different when it comes to Mexican food. The server was great....but my meal came with a choice of 4 different sides. I chose pico de Gallo and the server even repeated it. They served me guacamole. Requested the pico i ordered and was charged $2.50. Then, a girl came up asking for $ for tuition. I requested her transcript for proof that she is a student. She became VERY RUDE!! My daughter and I went there today (6/26/2024) around 11:30. We we seated immediately, ordered our drinks and food fairly quick and received both in a reasonable time. Food was delicious, unfortunately that was the last time our waiter acknowledged us being there. Never once came back to check on us. In the meantime, there were 3 men in the booth right behind us. 3 men at a table across from us and 2 women at a table catty cornered from us. We finally stopped in after Monarca took over margs and peppers. We were extremely pleased with the service! We were shown today's specials and seated promptly (in our old booth, which was funny since we frequently went to margs and Peppers). The staff quickly attended us, got beverages, chips n queso, and salsa. They brought out some EXTREMELY flaky chips (just 2) with queso drizzled on it. They were amazing, and I wished we got more! They also gave us a basket of chips, so I think these were just a little treat. I ordered the lunch fajitas for 2, and it makes about 4 tacos. The beef was pretty good, but the chicken and a different seasoning that I personally didn't like, BUT my S/O did, so it worked out! He got enchiladas ( ground beef, chicken, cheese), and of course, he said he liked the chicken best. Total it was about $35 pretty inexpensive, but the queso was up there in price at $10. We will come back in the future and try some other items on the menu read more

Best Restaurant Mexican food in all of Conroe. The service is excellent every time. We go because they have established a relationship with us there and they are very friendly. I drink a lot of whatever I'm drinking so they even give me a big cup when I arrive! Great place for Families , a date night , or just a random meal . You also cannot beat the lunch specials . What a wonderful time was served up by the staff of Monarca Bar & Grill! Last night, we hosted the rehearsal dinner for our son and his fiance. We had a large room to accommodate our whole group of 30, but there was ample room for more guests, if necessary. The food was fresh and absolutely delicious and plentiful. Wonderful Margaritas and buckets of beer were served, as well. The staff made everything run smoothly. Jimmy, the manager, made us feel welcome long before we even arrived. He and Enrique, the assistant manager, were so kind and helpful when we were scheduling the dinner. They made us feel special from start to finish. Mercedes was one of our wait staff members, and I'm so sorry, but I did not get the names of the other staff who were serving us...and serve us, they did, with warmth and many smiles! I just can't say enough good things about our experience! The restaurant was clean, the staff was amazing, and the food was exceptional! I can assure you, we will be returning to Monarca Bar & Grill many more times, and it's an hour drive for us! It's that good! Everything about our evening was 5 Star!! Thinking this was a new Conroe restaurant, we wanted to give it a try. When we came in, we were the only ones there mid-afternoon. The waiter did not write down our orders and when it was brought out, it was wrong. I ordered the beef fajita enchiladas and my wife got the street tacos. I don't know what the meat was in the enchiladas, but it was definitely NOT fajita beef. It was small chunks of something. No flavor or taste. My wife said the street tacos were just OK. The menu listed drinks without prices. So I went to their app to order a drink from there. When the bill came, the price was not the same and the waiter had to adjust that item on the bill. The drink goblet was full of large chunks of ice, so there was little room for the actual drink liquid. So a few sips and it was gone. Not worth the price. Ends up this is a replacement for the old Margarita's and Peppers. Seems like the same old bad food. Won't be going back., read more
