Went for lunch. Seemed to take quite a while considering the amount of customers. Food arrived and minee was room temperature. Not even warm. My son's chalupa was soggy. Now for price. We were charged $15.99 for full order of beef fajita quesadilla. I was in shock. Our bill for 3 was $47. Outrageous won't be going back. read more

We had a great experience here. The salsa was good, the margaritas were excellent and the dinners we all ordered were delish! A lot to offer in the menu, Any combo plate you can imagine. Food was substandard. Tortillas appeared to be store bought. Over-priced for the quality. Bartender had a bit of an attitude when we had initially requested little ice in the margarita, and it came full of ice and we returned it again. Server, Jessica, was very nice and courteous. Manager came to the table after the margarita incident and apologized without prompting. Be careful when ordering drinks because they will bamboozle you with hidden charges. I have been eating at this location, and the one on 242, for the past several years. The service always leaves something to be desired, but today was the worst it's ever been. By far, and then add some. We walked in to a busier restaurant than usual but the wait wasn't bad. We got a waiter (Alan) who took our drink order and we ordered an appetizer, though he was already attempting to walk away when we asked for that. Then we waited and waited and waited. We watched other tables be sat, get tickets closed, etc. for 25 minutes we waited, as the restaurant severely emptied. (We hit the lunch rush initially.) I watched as our waited had food delivered to incorrect tables, attempt to give to go orders to wrong tables. I watched as his tables attempted to get their own drinks at the drink station in the dining room. And then watched as he helped other tables around us and never even glanced our way. He finally came to get our food order and I said, "can we get refills first?" He took our cups, filled them, came back and jetted again. Was he kidding?!?! I had to go to the hostess stand twice to get him back, after also asking a busser to get him. FINALLY I asked for a different waited and he appeared. He motioned behind him; at the very light restaurant, and said they were so busy that's why it took so long and that it would also take a long time for our food to come out. The restaurant was nearly empty! We ordered and then I asked for a manager. He came over, laughingly brushed it off and said he'd take care of us from that point. Not what happened. He did stop by our table once toward the end of our meal. Said he was discounting the meal and giving VIP discount cards for future visits. (We've gotten those before so we know they're really nothing special.) Our bill came- everything was there at full price. So we waited and waited and then my husband went to the restroom. Our waiter was hanging out talking on his phone. Explains a lot. When the manager finally came back around we asked about the discount and such and he provided a $10 gift card and a VIP (dine in only) card for future visits. But said he couldn't do anything about the visit today. I'm not so sure we'll be returning to use any of it. Their food is not good enough to deal with bad service from waitstaff and management. Many restaurants reply on Yelp to reviewers and I would love if someone from mama juanitas could properly address this visit. read more

Mama Juanita's on League Line has been our go-to Tex Mex place since they opened that location several year ago. The service was always excellent, and the food quite good. My daughter and her fiancee went a few weeks ago, and they said it just was not good. She said the beef fajitas were cold and the service lacking. I did believe it about the fajitas being cold, because that happened to us once a long time ago, but when we pointed it out, they took them back and immediately brought us piping hot fajitas. We figured at that time that "things happen". We took our 3 grandsons to lunch today, and my husband and I were shocked at what happened at our dear Mama Juanita's! It took us awhile to be seated, like, the hostess literally walked away, ignoring us at the door! A very nice waitress waited on us, took our orders. We ordered appetizers, and thank goodness, because it took 1 1/2 hours for them to bring our food! The grandkids devoured the chips, queso, salsa, and asked for more! There were about 10 full tables in the restaurant, and no one got food for a minimum of one hour! Finally we got our food, and it was good, but everyone was so full from snacking we did not do our meals justice! The manager finally showed up and gave us a 20% discount, which was nice, but we took our visiting family out for Tex-Mex and would have rather had a timely meal instead of starving, crying children....which was going on all over the restaurant! I don't know what is going on with MJ's, but I hope they can fix it soon! We will not be back until we hear better reports from the community. read more

Ordered takeout fajita for one on the lunch menu $11.99 When I arrived the total was $35.00 I ask why they said it was dinner portion! I showed them online on their own menu and he said that's the lunch portion i said I know he says we aren't serving lunch today (this was at 11:45 ) I told him to keep it and walked out! Staying up in Willis quite a bit during the warmer months, we finally stopped by this place as I heard it was good. The drinks were great... from the sweet tea (that was just the right amount of sweet) to the margaritas. The food was OK. Not spectacular and not terrible. Our server was nice, but got 4 dishes wrong in some fashion, and brought 2 back wrong again. That was a bit frustrating. We will likely try it again, we all have off days. read more

Have had lots of Mexican food and the food here was disappointing. The taco looked like something I made at home and was not the fried corn tortilla I hoped for, Taco Bell taste better than this. The rice was plain and the beans were too. The chips were okay but didn't have enough salt. My tamale was good but could have been better without the cheese. His assumption, "I thought your were waiting on somebody." The food was very good, but the wait and service was poor. The food is mediocre, whether it's supposed to be Tex-Mex or Mexican. I was craving queso when I went last weekend and was sorely disappointed. Not too long after it was served it started to condense, which is a sign of sub-par queso. Service could also have been better. Entrees were ok but the food was pretty bland. I got a combo plate with a cheese enchilada, a cheese puff and a hard shell taco. The cheese enchilada and taco could have been from taco bell. I also tried the flautas. These were a bit better. Walked in... not even a hello, acknowledgement or a fuck you. Once seated the chubby girl walked away the server walked up and said "drink?!" We ordered and moments later another person comes out and slams the chips and 2 salsa bowls down and walks away. Is this the "good service" everyone has been raving about? also the google reviews are almost a year old... maybe they changed management or something. This place is horrible! Like no lie. The food has no flavor (I ordered the chicken flautas, my friend ordered the chicken chipotle enchiladas) none flavor!! The guacamole you can tell wasn't fresh. The service was very slow, after we were seated we waited 10 minutes before they took our order, which should have been sooner since they were just standing around. We even looked at them several times to get them to come over, but we still waited. The food came out in a timely manner but the enchiladas were flavorless and among the worst I've ever tasted. After our meal we waited another 10 minutes and finally had to go up to the front to get our waiter's attention to provide us our check. It wasn't busy or anything, he was just waiting around and even looked and walked by us several times but never checked on us. Once he brought us our check he waited for us to pay by which we paid cash and only gave him what was on the check with NO TIP. Don't waste your time, there are better Mexican food places in the area. read more
