Is this a four star restaurant? No. Do I give it four stars based on what it checks the box for in my opinion? Absolutely. If you want your-go to Tex-Mex that's consistently solid, this is your place. Great service. Fun, laid back, atmosphere Amazing prices. And solid food. The only thing I've tried so far that I wasn't a fan of is cheese enchiladas, too greasy for me. But the fajitas are always great. Big portion, house made flour tortillas, good guacamole and pico, and serves up fast. Easy to go to with the kids, in and out in under an hour, and easy on the pocket book (do people still say that? ). Check it out. 4 Stars - why? This restaurant is always consistent. Our family goes here several times throughout the year and we have never had a bad experience (service or food). Pros: Cost - I'm this economy everything has shot up significantly but I have noticed this restaurant has slightly increased prices but IMO is still very reasonable. Taste - I always order the White Queso for the appetizer and beef fajita plate for one. The fajita's always tender/flavorful. Location - They're right off I-45. You don't have to drive into downtown Conroe and park in some sketch parking lot (praying you don't get towed). Size - This establishment is quite large compared to how it looks outside. We have several birthday dinners and get together every year here. There's never a problem with wait time or service. Cons Temperature - There has been a few times that we've experience warmer than normal temps (mainly in the summer). Their AC is very loud and you know when it kicks on because it blows hard but not long. Parking - At dinner time the parking lot fills up quickly, so plan accordingly A solid Tex-Mex restaurant (considered our "go-to"). So I've been to the one off of league line Road in Conroe, and I just went to the other one that is right near Lonestar College in the Woodlands area and I have not been impressed at all! OK so the one in Conroe they're Tres Leche cake taste horrible it was dry lacked milk like literally it's in the name of the cake and then I ordered some fajitas. You know when you make Mexican food you expect your food to be prepared it was out in less than five minutes, which was very suspicious that I just been sitting in a pan somewhere. So then I went to the one that was near Lonestar College like really close to the Woodlands and I ordered some chicken flautas. I swear it was less than five minutes. They were just sitting in some pan and you could tell they were like under some light or something because the ends were really burnt and at least the chicken was moist on the inside, but you could clearly tell these were not freshly made. I don't know what the big hype about this restaurant is but it's not freshly made Mexican food and frankly disappointing. I basically pay $23 for something you see like chicken flautas at Circle K. You can tell they've been sitting under the lights and they're burnt on the ends. I mean, that is horribly disappointing. read more

All in all a solid three-star experience. Food and service were good. Nothing was exceptional, amazing, out of this world. But I went in hungry and left satisfied. Chips and salsa were quite tasty. I ordered the carne asada. I've had better but I've definitely had worse. I wish I could say something more exciting, but it's just not there. Either the people with bad reviews were there on a bad day or are dang critical but our meal was very good . I asked our waitress about the Seafood soup or the beef soup and she said the seafood soup was spicier and that sold me so I ordered it and a Carnitas soft taco a la cart and the special "top shelf Margarita" and the Margarita was so good , their take on a Cadillac Margarita and it was really good . My son and I had one of these and both really liked it . My soup was the best seafood soup I have ever eaten and I am a Bouillabaisse and Cioppino fan and this beat any I have ever had and the Carnitas taco had some chorizo in it and it was great as well . My wife ordered the regular Margarita and it was happy hour and we only got charged $3 for it . She also had the Chicken Enchiladas and really enjoyed them . The chips and salsa are very good , the green avocado style sala was cold and the redials was warm and bothered were very good . MY son had a combo with a chicken flauta , combo Fajitas and a pork tamale and he was happy with his meal . We were on our way home from Galveston and stopped in Conroe for lunch. We found this restaurant and we stopped. Then people we're Mexican. The lady who brought chips so spoke no English. Our waitress is debatable. We kept yelling the order over the loud background noise. Told her appetizer there times. The same with the el cantor. I ordered the El Cantor. My husband ordered the Chimichanga. WEordered the quesadilla OFF the kid's menu and an appetizer called El Flameodo. Let's start with tgec flameado. It was absolutely the worse "stuff" I've ever had. It was a white queso with chorizo and pico, the appetizer. It was so tick we couldn't dip it out to eat it. We tried putting a tortilla in, then a chip . Nooooooo . Neither worked. After struggling with it, we called our waitress over and asked her if it should be that thick. She said yes!!! Well there was money wasted. If you can't even get it out if then you can't eat it. We had two spoonfuls, then gave up! My husband said the chimichanga was okay but if he moved there, he would not come back to order it again. The kids meal looked okay except the rice which didn't look like Mexican rice. My grandson's favorite part of the meal is the rice. He took one bite and that was it. He did like the cheese quesadilla though. As for mine--i nearly gagged on all the cheese. I've never seen so much cheese on a single dish! I tried to choke it down and finally decided to move it aside so I could eat the poblano. It is supposed to be lightly breaded but it was not. Now I was thrilled with that as I hate breaded peppers I I thought that great. You can't ness up a poblano, correct? Wrong. It wasn't fully cooked. It was very thick and crunchy. It came with fajita meat on the side. The chicken was dry. The homemade tortillas looked greasy and one was burned in the bottom. That meal was so heavy I felt like I'd gained ten pounds when we left The salsa's and chips. Salsa tasted burned but I've had it at other places and hate that taste. Mama Juanita's was within walking distance of my hotel, so I thought I'd give it a try. They were very busy, but I was able to get seated right away. The waitress was excellent!! Started off with chorizo and cheese, with warm fresh tortillas. WOW Wonderful start My meal was a huge burrito, filled with tons of vegetables!! Perfect service and great food! I cannot say this enough, my server was absolutely perfect! Attentive without hovering. House margaritas were awesome! Had the combo fajitas and found them to be perfection. The beef was tender and clearly marinated with deliciousness. Yall come check out Mama Juanitas in Conroe, you won't be disappointed! The location is right on the way home out here in Conroe, so if you're near 336, make that left off of League Line Road and be sure to catch them on Friday nights! They're packed!! The location is convenient to the highway. There is a good amount of parking. The decor is fun and facility clean. We were seated very quickly and within a minute had water, chips/salsa and then a minute after, our cocktails! The staff were very cheery and friendly! They were familiar with the food and drink menu so you could ask questions and they could actually answer knowledgeably. Hmm I don't know what to call this restaurant. I don't think I would even call it Tex-Mex. let's start with carnitas they are not to be boiled or made as a roast. Carnitas are cooked in oil with seasoning, a coke and oranges. Carnitas have color. The carnitas there have zero look to carnitas. Mexican rice shouldn't look hello it should be orange. Mama Juanitas's has basically the same food as every Other Mexican restaurant in this area. Nothing great, nothing terrible , just average Mexican food . It's like El Bosque, Rancho Grande, Seven Leguas, Anita's, Margaritas, Cilantros and Margaritas and Peppers. It's like they all agreed to make the same food. Hacienda Mis Padres seems to be the best Mexican restaurant around Conroe, but it's not fabulous. The best Latin Food we have found around here is a new place called Zullys , which is Central American food. It's really different and very good. read more

Great atmosphere! We were warmly welcomed, seated, and served quickly. Love their salsas! They have tomatillo green salsa and a delicious red salsa served warm. Our server kept our drinks, chips and salsa refilled the entire time. Ordered the special- chicken stuffed avocado with an enchilada. AMAZING!
