Not your normal Mexican fare. Food was delicious and artfully presented. I go there every time I am in Conroe. Service is always top notch!

Gringo's is a Tex Mex chain, the name is fitting because there are a lot of honkies up in here. I say that with love because the food is pretty good. It's not the best but it's reasonably priced, the margaritas are good and everybody is having a good time. This location is nothing different. We were out in the Conroe area helping my Mother in law with her lake house and stopped by for lunch. I ordered the Seafood Enchiladas, my wife had the Presidente Combination and my mother in law ordered the Cozumel Chicken Salad. The shrimp in my Seafood enchiladas were cooked well but they didn't have that snap that really good shrimp have. Also, the seafood is on top of the enchiladas, and the flavors blend in with the cheese and the sauce. The enchiladas on their own is just cheese. The charro beans didn't taste Tex Mex enough, it was all sausage and like a ranch flavor My wife had the Presidente enchiladas. I tasted them and again all the flavor comes from the sauce on top. My mother in law's Cozumel Chicken Salad looked really pretty. I didn't take a bite though because that would've been weird. I like Gringo's and would come back to this location. We had good service and the restaurant was clean and well kept. I love that they offer red and green salsa, although their chips are a little thicker than I like. Overall it's a decent meal at a reasonable price... and the margaritas are fantastic, I really thought about getting one but can't let the mother in law think I'm a drunk. read more

Weak drinks. Bad crowds. Mediocre food. I've tried it twice, and just received confirmation. At least the prices are high.

You know you go out to eat on a Saturday night first to just enjoy the ambiance and of course the food. You can go anywhere in our area to spend $50-$75 right? We decided to go here this time to spend our money. We've been there before and got excellent service and the food has always been good. This time because of the wait we decided to set up at the bar. The waitress took our order. First of all she acted like I was putting her out when I asked her to explain the dish I was ordering. She seemed very annoyed. Then the food came out . She never came over to ask us if everything was ok or we needed anything else. She would walk right past us and never made eye contact with us. I finally had to to say to her can we get silverware and an extra plate. She never made contact with us and just put them down. I also had to flag her down to get water. Again she never came back to ask us if we needdd anything else until she brought the check. I'm a big Gringo's fan coming from the Katy area, I have to say because of the consistency of the food quality. For a TexMex chain they are pretty darn good. You get good flavor, texture, variety and quantity for a very reasonable price. No it's not Escalantes or Ninfa's on Navigation but for a good solid chain, it's very good. The service was excellent. The margarita was average but very good price especially at happy hour. The chicarrons are very good and excellent with queso. I was there for my birthday lunch so I enjoyed it very much. It's absolutely horrible. The general manager Jake does not care about the customers nor does his assistant and the waitress is beyond rude. If you're planning a party or get together with your friends or your family, please note that they only allow one drink per guest at one time. He always refused to give the other names! I seriously believe this is the worst customer service I've ever had. I do not recommend this place to anyone. Go here if you want to be disrespected. Disappointment. If you're raised in Texas, how can you mess up Tex-Mex? Let me further preface by saying the service was excellent. But on that same note, it was obvious that once it was realized that the food was not received well, remind you that we made no complaints, the service dropped off. Why voice disappointment in food that is obviously representative of the restaurant. And it wasn't just the food. The drinks were, at best, average. This was my first experience at this restaurant chain and my expectations were high. I chose it specifically because of the ratings but I should've paid more attention to the few low scores that I saw because later I reread those and I agree. My salad, was nothing special. It was the southwest shrimp salad. The entire thing tasted of lettuce and now I know why they give five sauces to smother their food in. However, the sauce that I was given, while you would expect it to be tasty, was quite bland. My mom ordered the taco salad to be safe. Good thing she did because it actually tasted a bit on the Taco Bell side, which would mean at least edible. My comments here are not to slam the food because obviously lots of people enjoy it, but I do want to give a heads up to those people who actually like a tasty, spicy, flavorful dish that would be a representative of a Tex-Mex meal to perhaps make choices differently than we did. 12/26/25-had a get together of 7 here the day after Christmas. I like this location better than the Woodlands even though it is a few miles further from my house, it is worth it. We were seated in about 10 minutes. The waitress was on the ball. Our food was hot and fresh. As crazy as it may sound, I've always liked Gringo's better than Pappasito's. They are not overpriced and the quality and quantity is excellent. we all had some type of margarita, and even with that, our bill was only about $240 before tip. We've been eating there 3 times a week since they opened! Food is good but received e mails twice in the last month for their $5.00 house margaritas but was billed full amount both times. Gringos. An amazing place with amazing food. Well sized portions and decorations that use up half of Conroe's electricity. I love a heavily decorated restaurant because it gives it more character. I should have taken the hint that there might be a problem when I saw a row of "help wanted" signs posted in front of the restaurant that there could be problems. But I didn't, we parked and went inside. The decor in the restaurant is very nice. There was a line at the hostess stand. The server was polite, but food delivery took a loooong time. We started with queso, and--like always--it was great! We ordered tortilla soup and chicken fajitas. After a short wait, our server told us that she just checked and the kitchen was running behind, and it would be another ten minutes or so for our meal. The food arrived, the fajitas sizzling, but the chicken appeared to be a "scary pink" color, not like usual. The tortilla soup looked fine and we dug in. With my fork, I pressed the fajitas down on the scalding skillet, hoping they would cook fully. But the tortilla soup was not hot; it was only lukewarm--it did not melt the cheese when we added the add-in ingredients. The server never came back to ask how things were until we were very finished. We told her our concerns. She apologized and said that a lapse in quality is unusual for a Wednesday (?). So it's common on other days? She changed the topic and handed us our check, which she said she brought us for "our convenience". For me, it's time to reconsider visiting this restaurant. I was craving Mexican food, and Gringo's had been recommended. I was planning to get it to go order. I didn't really like their waiting area for to go, so I asked if I could sit at the bar and have a cold drink while I was waiting. I ended up sitting at the bar and chatting with a friendly bartender. The facility is relatively new and well decorated. They have three good size televisions right over the bar so I was able to watch a basketball game while eating. I had a pastor bowl, which came with black beans and rice. It was quite tasty, but more than I could eat. The complementary chips and salsa were very good, but their green salsa, which is usually made with tomatillos, seems to have been made with sour cream and was very good. read more

Eh. It's ok. It's loud and crowded with an older 55+ crowd. Their food is just ok, and their drinks are watered down or just low on the alcohol to start with. Good and bad here. Shrimp enchiladas good dish. The fried shrimp on the plate were not cleaned properly. Nobody wants to bite into a poop chute. Manager replaced, but took awhile. We sat at the bar, took a long time for refills on drinks. My Tijuana Twister was supposed to have been topped with 151 rum, didn't get it. With the slow service, finished the drink before could get her attention. Ordered Sopapillas as dessert. Menu showed a regular expected size with powdered sugar and honey dipping sauce. We ventured into the newest Gringos location and the place is hopping. Despite a waiting list, and it being a Saturday's we were still sat relatively quickly and the staff was friendly. Some seem a little green but that is to be expected. The inside is the same consistent and expected decor with large berths, neon lights, and a central bar. I do, however, miss the large doors and horns the Rosenberg location has. The food came out pretty quickly and the fare was as good and consistent as ever. Gotta love that Amazon sauce. And Gotta love the Cabo salad. Yes it is Tex-Mex. But it is the apex of that style of fun loving, easy going, and family friendly venues. read more

I don't usually leave reviews, but after my experience with Andrea, I had to share how amazing she is! From the moment we walked in, Andrea greeted us with a warm smile and a great attitude that instantly made us feel welcome. She was super attentive without being overbearing, had awesome recommendations (seriously, take her advice on the tacos and the house margarita - perfection!), and checked in just the right amount throughout our meal. It's clear she genuinely cares about her guests having a great time. On top of that, Andrea handled our group with total ease - even when we got a little loud and indecisive . We didn't eat here! We did reserve. seating ahead of, checked in at the time they texted us. They said we canceled our reservation, we did not. We showed them our text confirmation then they said someone else took our reservation and we would have to be put on the bottom of the wait list? What? Truly unbelievable. OK we're from San Diego where they have the best Mexican food you drive up to any type of taco shop and get awesome food we don't like tech mix but this place my husband got a chimichanga which was completely fried not like in North Carolina so it was awesome..... We used to go to Fajita Jacks all the time but the drive is pretty long despite it being not too far. This location is down the road and i'm so glad because the drinks are always great. The service is always quick and attentive. Downside is, it's busy and parking can be a pain but for two people, it's nice to just head there after work and sit at the bar. read more

The location is relatively new to the area. I like the chain overall, but gave it some time for the newness to wear off before trying them. Let me start by saying I'm NOT a Tex Mex fan and avoid Mexican food at all costs. So giving this location 5 stars means they exceeded my expectations. Not only is the service pleasant and accommodating, so are the managers. The food comes out quickly. The tortillas are light and fresh. ALL ingredients are fresh. And thank Heavens they are lenient with the salt that I can enjoy my meal without needing to bottom out on water. I stuck with fajitas on both visits which were within weeks apart. I do prefer the chicken over the beef, but both are prepared well. My drink was on point without tasting like nothing but juice. Seating and parking is appropriate. And I like the overall vibe and light that enters the building. My company on both visits were also pleased with their meals. I'll be happy to start visiting more often. read more

Tonight was opening night in Conroe and it was AMAZING! The wait looked bad walking in. It took several minutes to get to the hostess booth. They told me it was about a 35 minute wait. Not bad at all. It was around 5:15 and they were getting slammed. The inside looks great. Lots of Tex-Mex touch that add to the ambiance. We only waited 30 minutes. Got the text and got seated quickly. They brought two set ups of chips and salsa (red and green). Our waitress took our drink order quickly. We ordered a small queso. Next time it will be a large. It was really good. Once we ordered our food it wasn't too long. They did get my oldest kid's meal wrong. Nachos instead of quesadillas, but the waitress was quick to notice and very apologetic. She sent the GM over to also apologize and he got them out quickly. All the food was so good!! I told me waitress I honestly couldn't tell it was opening night. I'm so glad they are here in town.
