So we have been trying to check out some new pizza places in town as we're getting a little tired of ordering the same old same old. So I got some garlic rolls as an appetizer and the buffalo chicken rolls. And I just got a pepperoni and sausage with mushroom pizza traditional crust. The toppings honestly on the pizza look like the ones I used to put on My Easy-Bake oven when I was a little girl. My man actually had to show me the mushrooms because I didn't think there was any on there. The garlic rolls were worse than the ones that I get from the frozen food section at the grocery store and a lot less flavor. I actually deconstructed the buffalo chicken roll because I don't particularly like peppers so I took the whole thing apart and there was one little piece of chicken in each roll with the rest being cabbage and peppers. It wasn't good to put it mildly. The sauce was actually pretty good for the pizza but the toppings didn't taste very good and it just was very bland. I believe we ate three out of six pieces and we sent the rest to the trash. Its average for me. The monkey bites dessert was actually good so they get a third star for that. Im good. We visited this place as an alternative after one of our favorite spots closed for remodeling. I called ahead to ask if they accommodate food allergies, and they were upfront in saying they do not--which I appreciated, even if it was a bit disappointing. The pizza itself was ok, though a little on the greasy side. However, what really brought the experience down was the customer service. When I picked up the order--three "Boardwalk" pizzas--I asked for chili pepper packets. I was handed just three small packets, so I politely asked for a few more. The woman at the counter responded by grabbing a handful, tossing them on the box, and telling me that next time they're ten cents a packet. There was no visible signage indicating this charge, and it came off as unnecessarily rude. A little kindness goes a long way in hospitality, and unfortunately, that was lacking here. I figured I would ask for a refund as I'm not interested in their food going forward. Talked to a rude woman who said she wasn't authorized to give refunds. They offered a credit or remake a pizza. Unpopular opinion, not a fan. I came here a couple years ago because my friend said they had the best pizza. I did not like it at all and the lady cashier was very curt. Came back tonight to try it again and get a couple subs. Both subs I ordered came out incorrect and they were the most pathetic looking things I have ever seen. I would be ashamed to put a product out like that. You closed the bread and could see nothing inside of it that's how little were on these things. They also could very well have been microwaved because they didnt seem very oven baked to me. When ordering I asked if the thin crust pizza was crispy the guy said " no they all come out the same" so I just ordered a regular crust cheese pizza. It was better than last time but still not my jam. Something about the sauce, but it did taste better later cold than hot. Not for me. read more

I've gotten takeout pizza here twice and it does not disappoint. I like a crispy thin crust and that's what I've gotten both times. The salads are a bit lack luster but let's be honest I'm are here for the pizza not the veggies! Mama Mary's Pizza is a family operated pizza parlor located in Holland (only); their other store, on Eleanor in West Toledo, has closed. Because some uptight wanker from New York might whine about it, I'm not going to call Mama Mary's Pizza "New York Style." But I will say that here in Toledo, at least "crust wise," Mama's thin crust pizza is probably the closest thing to true NYC style pizza. The crust is not only thin, but it's crispy, too. Although there are several good options for thin crust pizza in town, IMHO, Mama probably makes the best thin, and I do mean THIN, crust pizza in the area. The crust, although crispy, can be folded, if you insist on doing so. I also like the fact that a thin crust option is available for any size pizza, even small. This is a great carb-saver for when you just want that quick pizza fix. The sauce is zesty without being overly sweet, and the cheese is always perfect in both amount and finish. The pepperoni is not really the kind that I like, however. As you can see from the picture, with cooking, they curl up into things that resemble the suction cups of an octopus...crispy little grease-containing-artery-hardening suction cups of an octopus. The other great carb-saver at MMP is the Italian Salad. It doesn't rate up there with Inky's Italian salad, or Jo-Jo's "antipasto" salad, but still, it's better than the most other offerings in the area. Unlike Jo-Jo's and Inky's, Mama's Italian dressing tastes like it's from a bottle. I don't usually comment on non-pizza or non-salad offerings from a pizza joint, (in fact, I often feel compelled to make fun of reviewers who dis a pizza joint because they bought, for example, a bad chicken sandwich there). BUT, I did try Mama's wings one time. Never again. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but they were gross (soggy, weird flavor, etc). With plenty of great wing options in the area, I would skip MMP if I wanted wings. In the end, Mama Mary's is yet another good option for excellent pizza in the Glass City. read more

If you're looking for a NYC slice here in Toledo, mama Mary's is the real deal! Trust me, I've tried so much pizza here while on the search. I would say this place tops out other thin crust options like Stubborn Brother, 5th Street, Home Slice. Don't get me wrong, those places are also great, but Mama Marys feels like the CLOSEST thing to a hole in the shack NYC slice. It's got the best chew, isn't overly wet/soft like Stubborn Brother, isn't overly thin like Home Slice, and has more generous toppings particularly with the cheese than 5th Street. I can't believe it has taken me 3 years in Toledo to finally try this place. It's not one that people here recommend right away but for a girl who didn't grow up in Toledo and has always loved NYC style above all else in the world of pizza, this was perfect. Help support them during these crazy pandemic times and treat your fam to a pizza night here! Combined with some of their garlic bites and dipping sauce and you really can't go wrong. They also do a great job of customizing your pizza to a tee. I was half expecting them to ignore when I requested a ranch swirl on one of the slices but they came through with that too haha. Mama Mary's Pizza is a new to the area, opening up just over a month ago from the time I wrote this review. Initially I went here wanting to try out Bennett's Pizza after reading the positive reviews, but found them to have been bought out and replaced with this new restaurant. They had a Grand Opening special going on for a $10 large specialty pizza, so I decided to give it a shot and I'm glad I did. The owner was there and he was a very friendly person. While I wait for my pizza, he explained why he got into the business. He enjoyed the authentic New York Style pizza, which his family has been making for years. He wanted to introduce this type of pizza to more people and decided to open a local business to do just that. I haven't had the pleasure of trying real New York Style (i.e. pizza from a local restaurant in New York), but if it's half as good as the pizza I got from here, I would be in heaven. This pizza was amazing. I got the Ultimate Pizza (with spicy sausage) and it was one of the best pizzas I had in my life. The sauce was spot on, the slices were huge, and the toppings were very high quality. This pizza was at a level of premium that was at least three times more than I what I paid for it. If you're looking for the best New York Style pizza in the Toledo area, you should add Mama Mary's Pizza to the top of your list. read more

Really amazing New York style pizza. Sauce was absolutely delicious with. Toppings were pepperoni and olives and both were plenty and flavorful. My son had a fun time folding his slice in half trying to eat it. Owner was extremely friendly. My son (7) asked the owner if he delivered but we live quite a ways away- just outside of Detroit. We'll definitely be back in the near future on one of our many trips to the zoo. read more

We ordered from this place twice this month. We're a hungry family of five and getting the 16-inch "large" pizzas is completely unacceptable. Most pizzerias don't serve much larger than that, but this place goes from 16-inch to 20-inch, and then even larger than that to 28-inch! Holy crap! We tried the 20-inch, the pizzas were good! We asked for thin crust and it was nicely crisp. There wasn't a huge load of cheese, thus there wasn't too much grease/oil released and the crust wasn't soggy. The only downside was that they only sliced 8 slices in triangles instead of squares or more triangle-slices. So we're definitely going to try the 28-inch and ask for more slices. Mama Mary's Pizza makes me mad! This is the first time I have purchased pizza from here and brought it home to the family. We ordered the 20" peperoni new York style and the large veggie. I started eating this pizza and I couldn't stop eating it. They use the small peperoni that crisped up perfectly and the sauce is awesome. Ordered delivery at the motel where I was staying. Food was better than most I've ordered on the road. The Philly Cheesesteak on folded dough was really tasty. We just moved back from New Jersey and have missed the pizza there. This definitely hit the spot. We got two of the 28 inch pizzas for a birthday party and they were amazing! Our guests all said they had never seen a pizza so big. Many took pictures with it to text to people. Very impressive and the taste was right on. At least 10 of the 30 guests told me it was the best pizza they ever had. This was our first time but not our last because these large Jersey pizzas will be a staple for us at parties. We also got one of their regular pizzas because we weren't sure how the little ones would handle the big one and I didn't get to try it because the little ones gobbled it up so quickly. read more

The closest to a New Jersey pie you can get anywhere in the Toledo area. The owner is from the Bronx originally and lived in Jersey for years before coming to Toledo. To be able to get a pizza that is the same size and price as when we're in Jersey is wonderful. The fact that the pizza tastes just about the same (they don't make their own mozzarella, so it's not quite the same) is just wonderful. Being able to talk with someone who knows all the places we frequent when we're back in Jersey is terrific. I did a carry out order on 10/10/2019 at 5 pm what a mistake on picking it up. The cashier told a lady who just walked in behind the counter that your dad doesn't want you here. She said you don't need to be a bitch. Then the cashier yelled at someone in the back "I'm on the phone" they said sorry. Then the lady who wasn't supposed to be there left with a lot of "F" words. She acted like she owned this pizza shop, talking to employees, and so on. The owner and employees need a lot of training on customer service. Ny style pizza that is pretty darn good. Although not made in a brick oven, the pizza is good, the sauce is not too sweet and the cheese is perfect. All toppings have been good. I just wish they could cook the bottom of the pizza more/better. It is the best in the Maumee area and the people are very nice. Definitely give them a try. read more
