There was a 20% service surcharge, which is understandable, but it felt a bit steep since we arrived before 5pm with only two of us. Out of that fee, about 14% went to the waitress as a tip, and 6% to the restaurant, which I find a bit unfair. It seems to me that the entire service fee should go directly to the staff, like our wonderful waitress, who did so much walking, smiling, and serving us with genuine care. The restaurant's prices are already quite high, so I hope the management will consider making this change. The staff deserves every bit of that service fee for their hard work and friendliness. I could only get through a few spoonfuls before I called it quits. I then turned to some of my wife's rice and beans and was right back to flavorless. About the only thing that tasted even was the chicharon de pollo. But even that was lack luster. It's always hard to find a good Dominican food restaurant.
