Warm and friendly service. I love that they'll give an honest answer if I ask which dish they like best and they appreciate their guests. We've ordered the family pack and always gone for the largest size...leftovers! The food is neatly and securely boxed and on several occasions they've offered to help carry it out...even though I've declined most times it was so heartwarming! The kalbi, kimchi, cabbage, potato salad, kimchi fried rice are yummy faves, but we'd be happy with anything from their menu. Kal Bi and Bul Go Gi is our usual and we like all the sides... It is cash only but they do take checks if you forget ! I moved out of this neighborhood two years ago, but I keep coming back. I used to get a family pack at least once a month and that average hasn't changed even though it is now a 25 drive away. What keeps me coming back is the fast service, the value, and their variety of side veggies that come with their family pack. I've even come here just to get just a veggie plate to go along with rice and meat at home. I get better variety than I would at home. Mama woo's is great and know if you don't get rice with your plate you can substitute that out with another vegetable instead of rice. Their selection on vegetables is quite large and their price point per plate is slightly on the high side but still fair. The food was amazing only thing that's stopped me from giving them a five star review was because they forgot something In my plate which was a mandolin I called them and told them about it and they were willing to give me that but for me the drive back wouldn't have been worth it. This review is for catering. Tonight we had Mama Woo's at our 25 person party. We had bbq chicken, some kind of flavored chicken, kalbi, mandoo, and banchans. Some pros-- the Kalbi (not pictured) was soft and flavorful. It was one of the better Kalbis I've had at this price point. Also, the BBQ chicken had its skin removed and it was average to a bit above average. Some cons-- the meat jun was too eggy for me. The other chicken (maybe garlic?) had some flavor but it was mostly breading and not meat. Some pieces tasted like mochi lol. The winner tonight was definitely the kalbi! read more

We planned a little baby shower for my cousin and ordered food from Mama Woos since she likes Korean food. We always get excellent service when we go there and the food is always great! For the amount of food you get the price is really good! I didn't get a picture of the cucumber kimchi and wonbok kimchi but it was really good. The cucumber was broke da mouth! Mama Woo's BBQ is located off of King street across of McDonald's. This hidden gem is easy to miss in the busy streets of King Street with so many dining options all around. The food here is very ono and is a popular place with locals. They offer a huge selection of items compared to most Korean BBQ establishments. They offer anything from local favorites of Meat Jun, BBQ chicken, to harder to find items like Saba and Hamachi Kama. One of my new favorites is their homemade Kim Chee Cheese Burger with fries. All their food is so tasty. Their sides are all very tasty but are known for their eggplant. The staff is very nice and very accommodating. They also do bentos and are very reasonable. You know this place is good when you see all the firefighters coming here on a regular basis. Parking is limited but there's usually a stall open or someone will be leaving soon. Korean bbq in town is easy to find. Good Korean bbq is even harder. Parking may by a little tough because it also shares space with the delicious Wagaya that is a few stores down. But there is also street parking before and after if you have trouble. I would go for the meat jun, good crispy egg coating and juicy meat, and bbq chicken combo, delicious bbq chicken flavor. One of the best Korean restaurants on the island. Certainly the most reliable for a large party. Just make sure to place your order 1-2 days in advance and they will have the platters hot and ready. The Meat jun, mandu, and bulgogi beef are our favorite dishes. Also tried their the kalbi and spicy pork and they were both delicious as well. I'm not a big fan of banchan, but their selection is expansive. And was told that the quality and taste of the banchan items are great by several folks. We went to Mama Woo's on 1/20/24 for the Mama's Special and although prices have expectedly gone up, what was especially disappointing was that the portions have significantly decreased. We have been customers of Mama Woo's for more than 11 years and the quality has always been good for what you're paying and understand food costs go up. However, when a business increases prices AND cut portions it is expecting me to accept a double whammy of paying more for less which I am not. I've always seen this Korean BBQ whenever I'm in Mo'ili'ili driving down South King. I've only been to the restaurants next door. My boyfriend was craving Korean BBQ one day and mentioned that this place is one of his favorites. It's located in a little area with other shops and restaurants in Mo'ili'ili. The name stands out big and proud as you drive down South King Street, so you won't miss it at all. The parking, however, can get crazy. It's a small, narrow lot that contains maybe 10-15 compact stalls. There's less traffic in the lot in the afternoon/night. We ordered a meat jun/mochiko chicken combo and a spicy pork/spicy BBQ chicken combo. Both plates came with 4 vegetables. Whenever I go to Korean BBQ takeout places, I get really excited about the vegetables. Mama Woo's offer a TON of different vegetable varieties with at least 3 uncommon ones that I don't usually see. Combo 1 plate had japchae, potato salad with bits of taro (soooo good; recommend!), bean sprouts, kimchi. Combo 2 had japchae, kimchi pancake, another sort of kimchi vegetable, eggplant tempura (unique side!). Their meat jun was flavorful and cooked perfectly but the mochiko chicken was kind of unique. They were coated in a sweetish sauce (looked like meatballs with gravy) and was not the usual crispy like other places. They were delicious, but I wasn't a fan. But I do recommend you to try this out if you're looking for something unique and delicious. Their spicy pork was really good. Coated well with spicy sauce and cooked perfectly while their spicy BBQ chicken was a bit dry (but still good). I do recommend this place to people who are around the area. My favorite side is the eggplant which is done like a mochiko style and I absolutely love it so was looking forward to it today, but today's eggplant which I got two orders of didn't taste like I remembered it. It was thick and doughy and didn't taste fresh! The breading almost tasted stale to me I felt bad cause I told my wife about it and knowing she likes eggplant she ordered it to but didn't care for it! Ordered a mix plate with BBQ chicken and kalbi. Everything tastes good and is cooked well, but the portion sizes for the chicken and kalbi were terribly small for the price you pay. I literally got one piece of kalbi and 2 pieces of BBQ chicken. They pack it FULL of rice to make it seem like you're not getting ripped off, but that's what it is, a ripoff. For $23, please do better. If you read through the other low star reviews, there are others who also commented on the poor food value. Mama Woo's opened near my home several years ago. I can't remember how far back that was, but I remember wanting to have Korean BBQ for dinner so I decided to try the "new kid on the block". There used to be a hot sauce specialty shop in this place before Mama Woo's took over. That shop was interesting but seemed cluttered. Even with a corner unit with large plate glass windows on two sides, I remember it was a little dark. I was reminiscing as I stepped into Mama Woo's and all the memories I had of the old tenant shattered in my mind. This place was absolutely bright and clean! That was my first impression. Fast forward to today, and the shop is still sparkling-clean, exactly how it looked on the first day they opened! The person at the counter is probably the co-owner because no matter what day, what time I go, she's always there. I credit the shop's immaculate condition to her. I don't know whether it's because she's just a neat-freak or got OCD, every second of down time is spent wiping the counters and picking " strays" out of the side order bins. It's inevitable that a piece of bean sprout might find it's way into the kim chee section but she's not allowing that to happen; not on her watch! The food is absolutely delicious! I have absolutely no qualms about the taste or quality of meats they use. With a choice of four sides, it's pretty filling too. However, in comparison to the competition, the portions are slightly smaller but the price is in or around a dollar more. Cost-performance is a little better if you go to Gina's in Market City. But like I brought up, the quality of the food makes up for whatever shortcomings they have in the quantities they fall behind on. There's nothing like having to eat a plate load of chewy meat jun or BBQ! You get what you pay for whether it be quality or quantity.
