Delicious food and good ambiance. Only gets 3 stars because of the food. Came here on a Sunday night and it does get lit. It gets a more party vibe later in the night. With that, I think the service gets a little hectic. The paella was delicious and flavorful, calamari was great not too chewy. Service does get slow as the night goes on due to people coming in for a more club / lounge vibe. Music gets louder, hookah gets set up. So if you want that dinner vibe, come early. read more

I've been here a few times and realized i never gave them a review. So just went yesterday to celebrate my bday. We had a party of 15, 13 came. This is a place of you love to party. They play all kinds of music. And for the price you get unlimited mimosas or sangria. You get two meals. They do come kinda of back to back. We packed the second meal to take home. They don't charge you for bringing your own cake but they don't cut it you have to do it and they didn't supply a knife. So we were cutting a fondant cake with a butter knife. Besides that the food and drinks are good. There is even like coffee cake on the table when they sit you down . I must say the way they sat us 2 of my party weren't next to us they were behind us which was kind of annoying. Our waitress was Rosa she was great. Will still come again. read more

This gets place gets a one star review because their is a no star review option. I looked this place up online and it says it has no dress code but when I got there I had to take off my hat when I came inside and that's was cool but when I reach inside their were multiple people with their hat on. I put my hat back on because others were wearing theirs plus the person that was with my party. They had a black guy come over to tell me to take my hat off because I'm black as well. I would have respected the wishes but their was a gentleman behind me with his hat on. Amazing service the waitress Celina was on top of everything! She never let my drink get dry! And also the manager Lucas makes sure the bathroom has toilet paper and clean! This place is a vibe! I just felt like they do not give you enough food for the price. That mini Mangu BS needs to be stopped. It was literally three spoons of Mangu.. The friend I was with told me brunch is usually that way, so don't go for brunch. We had to order 5 dishes for 3 people because everything was so small. Drinks are excellent but prices are high. I recently visited this establishment because of their reputation for good music. They had a famous DJ that kept the crowd alive and dancing all night long. The drinks were also pretty good, I ordered a margarita and two mojitos. They also have hookah which was great. The service was pretty good, Cindy (manager) was making sure everything was in order and always paying attention to everything. The security from this place was also good, this place closes at 3:30am but they do not allow anyone from outside after 2am to ensure the safety of everyone inside. Bonus: the brunch here is the best in town! If you're looking for a good time, delicious drinks, and hookah, this is the place to go. On 7/12/25, a group of us decided to go to the restaurant, after an event we were promoting in the Bronx with a number of recording artists and politicians who showed up. To our surprise it was the worse experience we had. We all sat down while the waitress was very friendly and taking our order. As we waited for our food we heard 4 pop shots followed by two more pop shots, thinking it sounded like gunshots inside, everyone was running and going under the tables and many ran out to their back patio, running for their lives and screaming. Some tripped over each other and slippers were left behind. People were running for their lives. It appeared that all this was because a drink was dropped on someone's foot, as we had heard. We did not stay around to see if it was actually gunshots or not. The cops did arrived but we did not stay around. Many left and left their food behind. We decided to go to another restaurant to eat. I Will never go back to this restaurant again. People do not know how to act. If I can give a zero I would. What we can say is, at least many of our lives were saved or spared. read more

Your Local Fat Guy here, I went to this place for a friend's birthday celebration a few months back for my first time. It is a very lively place for Brunch as it has a a DJ and entertainment for guests. Definitely a great place for parties/celebrations. The enviroment keeps gues lively and happy. The sheer amount of people lined up befor opening game the the impression of a frequented restuarants with loyal patrons. Once inside, it was well decorated and the the staff is always on their toes ready to help at any moment. The food portions are very healthy and satisfying. The bottomless mimosas and sangria is great. Only loses one star due to how crowded it does get which is part of the fun but it does become a little of a chore to get to the bathroom when needed. Otherwise, I can easily recommend this place to family and friend sto check out. read more

The presentation was beautiful but a teaser so if you are hungry you will have to order more than one item from the Brunch menu. Came here on a Thursday night after work without reservations and was able to get seated right away. In the past, I've always enjoyed my time here specifically on Thursday nights because of their happy hour specials and free hookah. It was a different experience this time around. They seem to have opened up the back parking lot and turned it into a outdoor dining patio. The tables seemed to be placed at a good distance (keeping the 6 feet distance rule). The staff were all wearing masks and disposable silverware was provided. Ok, let's get to the food ! Drinks: I ordered their passion fruit margarita and my date went with their passion fruit mojito. No complaints ! Both were tasty and delicious. It did take a while for the drinks to come out but we didn't mind. Food: For starters, we ordered the empanada trio which was supposed to be a mixture of chicken, beef and pepperoni pizza but instead the order came with just beef and chicken. Nonetheless, they were a good start to our entree and very appetizing. As for our main dish, I went with their classic "Hamburgesa Mamajuana" ( a burger) which was pretty standard. Asked for it to be well done and midway through found it to be a little too pink for me. My date went with their mofongo de puerco which translates to fried mash plantains with garlic and pork, served with pork belly and creole sauce on top. I was lucky enough to get a taste of the mofongo and I can say that it was pretty tasty and flavorful. I know better and we had a choice, but for convenience sake we forged ahead anyway hoping to beat the odds. To me it seems so lame to want to copy other NYC establishments by having unnecessary blaring music when the atmosphere calls for a smooth upbeat, chill afternoon. Not sure what they're trying to prove blasting the music to the point that you almost need earplugs. I ask, 'do you see anyone dancing?' 'Are there people dancing on tables and having a brunch dance party?!' To answer, no! There isn't any of that going on, and to add it's a local family restaurant with kids, not a brunch spot or club in the meatpacking district. I will say that I get it, honestly I do, because I know this place carries a rep for that Friday/Saturday afternoon/evening hot fun. But your decibel range was a tad bit over and warranted it lowered a smidgen. Not adding much to the positive side of this review, picture a now near empty, brightly lit restaurant, music still blasting unnecessarily, a group of middle aged dinner patrons walk in, waiting at the hostess stand, no one to greet them, staff walking around not acknowledging them and the music still blasting. Certainly not the right tone or an inviting atmosphere. Needless to say, they walked out. The sad part is, the restaurant itself is aesthetically pleasing and has potential. I can't even freaking formulate my thoughts on this one...... Brunch for $24.95 consisted of Unlimited Mimosas (maybe Sangria?), appetizer and an entrée. My salad with Roasted Cashews and Queso Tropical, was good and different and the best part of my Eggs Florentine (without Hollandaise) entrée, was the Spinach and perfectly poached eggs. Music was dreadfully loud, to the point that I was screaming, my jugular vein almost popped and trying to carry a conversation with my friend, was unlikely. Service was terrible and honestly think, the most heroic move came from Brandon- a 20something young gentleman who although wasn't our main server, was very pleasant, well mannered and looked out for our Champagne and Mimosa beverages. (While our main server was lost in limbo and inattentive throughout our meal). I was giving Mamajuana the benefit of the doubt and thought that maybe this was an 'off' day, but it's just how they do. It would of been no stars if I could. The customer service is HORRIBLE. It was a private event from 6-8pm I was traveling from Jersey and she told us the event would be over by 8. We reached location @8:10 to give enough time for the party to end. I stood outside and noticed it was 8:45pm so we went inside to ask for and update and the aggressive manager Carlos had an attitude. My cousin asked to go to bathroom because she was pregnant. He firstbsqir he didn't have a bathroom. Then he said only for paying customers. Then Spanish girls asked the same thing and they were allowed to stand inside and wait for table. Not to mention they wasn't social distancing and doesn't have mask. He said he refused to serve us. And called his friend (who was a cop) to escort us out. They came and doesn't understand why we were being kicked out.. I been to the one in dykeman and love the food but this location put a bad taste in my mouth. Carlos is very HOSTILE AND TYRANT. Bad customer service. How you make reservations @8 can't get in. Ask @8:40. And refuse service. Currently filing a complaint for racial profiling. If you don't speak Spanish, be careful. Got the menu (only brunch) and no other options, its either all included or nothing but we were not aware of it. 3 adults and a child 150 bucks for brunch, that's crazy expensive. Food is not bad at all with with such bad service why on earth are you coming to eat here. Not to find excuses but the bajdeja paisa was just rice, beans and meat with 2 eggs. The mini 3 golpes was mangu with fried egg and s small bite if cheese and salami.. Over all the food gets 2 stars from the 5. Now service, since they are sold out inside they don't really care about the rest of the diners here. Tables, dirty so we had to tell the guy how to clean the table. Even the security guards had to pitch in to serve water. We asked for a sprite 3 times and after 20 minutes the 4th person got it for us. A table of 3 adults and 1 child got charged for gratuity mandatory on the bill. Definetly will never, ever, forever ever come back to this lowsy place. Even the manager is lowsy, she came out 2 times in 2 hours to see if we were OK but didn't do anything to the fact that we had been waiting for drinks for a while. To the food: new asked for a menu besides the brunch and were told that they didn't have one. We then asked for what they had for kids and they said chicken fingers fries and something else. The chicken fingers are actually chicken wings, fries were good and I mean really good. Overall it was a really bad experience from the service to them closing the shades so when their party started at 3pm nobody seating at the outside tables could see inside. Friendly staff but the lack of professionalism was unreasonable. We went for Sunday brunch, which includes (unlimited mimosas, sangrias, and/or rum punch) and 2 courses. We waited 45-60 minutes for our main course (appetizers never came) which was subpar-I took 2 bites and was done! After an hour (and requesting the appetizer) the 1st course arrived, my friend took a few bites into his salad when he noticed a large piece of cardboard, we immediately notified our server and requested a manager. According to the hostess Tianna no manager was available and she would assist us. We showed her the cardboard, told her about the delays, and told her I wasn't pleased with my entree and sent my (untouched appetizer) and entree back, along with his half eaten entree and appetizer, the resolution was 50% off the bill...for basically the mimosas; we declined. read more

My gf wanted to bring her sister here for a birthday celebration so I made an 11:45p reservation for a table for four for my gf, her sister, her sister's friend and myself. My gf's sister and the friend arrived first and we stood outside, catching up for some a few minutes. It's no secret that I'm in the final weeks of pregnancy and I came out, solely for support and to help celebrate a friend's special day. I am very obviously pregnant and despite the bouncers seeing me in plain view, no one approached us regarding the fact that I'm expecting. We finally started to walk towards the door to show our identification for entry and the bouncer at the door checked my gf's sister's ID, then her friend's and when it was time to check mine, he simply pointed at my belly and shook his head, telling me that would not be allowed entry. I asked why and he told me that it was for my safety because I'm very pregnant. Never having ever been refused entry in a bar/lounge my entire pregnancy, I proclaimed that I'd never heard of such a policy as just last week I patronized both, Plunge Rooftop at the Gansevoort Hotel AND Down The Hatch in the Village with no issue (follow me!). He then stated that it was the sole policy of Mamajuana and that I would not be allowed inside. I asked for management and Carlos came out to speak to me, basically echoing the same thing the bouncer at the door said. I asked him if he was the manager and he said that he was head of security so I asked to see the literature regarding said policy because I was perplexed as I've never heard of a policy in NYC where pregnant woman have to, either sign a waiver in order to gain entry to a bar or not gain entry at all; the waiver, he explained, they did not have on hand. I again asked for a manager of the establishment and was told that there was only a general manager on site so I requested to speak to him. The man came out with an attitude from the beginning and I immediately asked his name because I knew he was not going to be very helpful. He answered with, "What's YOUR name" so I bypassed the nonsense and just read his name tag; Mairobin was his name. My gf's sister was a little upset that they would not let me in, especially since at this point, her birthday was in a few minutes because it was close to midnight and she was vocalizing her discontent to her friend within earshot. I'm assuming the Gen Mgr did not appreciate her disapproval. After asking Mairobin a few times for something in writing that stated their policy on serving pregnant women and allowing entry of pregnant women, he turned right around on his heels and said he would not speak to me. Honestly, I can't tell you if he even had eye contact with me from the moment he came outside. The head of security (Carlos) tried to persuade him to stay and speak to me because I was calmly asking him questions regarding their policies but he was not trying to deal with any customer service at all. I took a few pics of him because I wanted to make sure I had a reference other than a name, especially with his behavior towards me and I really did not understand why I was being treated this way. I requested to speak to someone else in management but was told he was the only one on site. After a few moments, Mairobin came back out and told me that he would not speak with my gf's sister talking over him. She was not even present so I did not understand why he was bringing her up to me and I told him, I'd rather not speak about her and that I want to know about their policies and why I am not being allowed entry. He got upset again and said that I was doing the same thing and, again, walked away. At this point, I was just waiting for my gf to get there so I could leave. I held it together for the most part but to have a crowd of people, likely judging me, just because I'm out with girlfriends for a celebratory event made me want to crawl into a ball. It was embarrassing to be turned away just because I'm pregnant, made to feel as though I can't be out with friends and that I was somehow putting my unborn child in danger. It made me feel like they were insinuating that I was being irresponsible by wanting to be in that type of establishment when I was only there to be supportive and celebrate a friend's birthday. Not to mention that, nowhere on their website does it say anything along the lines of limited entry due to pregnancy because that is just as utterly ridiculous as it sounds. I feel completely discriminated against...all because I'm with child. They operate as a restaurant that turns into a lounge and my question is, had we made earlier reservations for dinner and stayed after they converted into a bar, would they have kicked me out? I mean, where would it end? This can't be legal and I'm determined to make sure that no one in my position ever feels as though they are being shamed for partying (responsibly or otherwise), while pregnant. read more
