Sunday Brunch - 3:21 PM Ambiance: We were greeted by a pleasant host who thoughtfully seated us based on our preferences and made sure we weren't placed near a speaker. That attention to detail was appreciated. The crowd was mature and respectful, creating a comfortable atmosphere. The music selection offered a nice variety and complemented the brunch experience well. Service: Our waiter was friendly and attentive. When I requested lemon and an additional brunch menu so my husband and I could each review the options, I learned that only one menu was provided for the table. Since I tend to take my time deciding what to order, having a second menu would have made the process much easier and more enjoyable for both of us. I asked for the menu and lemon he said he would come back and he NEVER did.. we had to ask for it twice . And at the time of ordering our meals it's then when they beamy us the lemons to squeeze into our glass of water. Food: I had the chicken and waffles . Nothing difficult to put together. However if you are going to state on your menu that it's chicharrón de pollo was bland no taste I had to ask for lime to give it some salty mess to it. My husband steak and eggs which came with rice. Had a business meeting there today and loved the atmosphere and food was great. Even grabbed something to go for my wife.

I purchased $123 worth of food and all of it was horrible ! I don't know if there is new management or different chefs in place. The previous location was on Castle Hill Avenue and the food was excellent. However, the food at this current location at E. Tremont Ave. Bronx NY is not worth the money. Food was hard and flavorless. Will definitely not go back. Very disappointed ! read more

I can't say I've ever been to a Cuban restaurant before, but this cafe in the Bronx introduced me properly! It was my first night in the Bronx and we feasted on dishes that I can't remember the name of, but boy do I remember the Cubano sandwich. It was well cooked and had that traditional mustard taste. We ate here for the first time with our cousin who lives in the Bronx. The service was ok! They were on top of making sure water glasses were kept full, but it took them a bit of time to come check on us after we got our food. I ordered the salmon dish with fingerling potatoes and sautéed spinach. I added a Thai chili sauce on the side because I don't like coconut sauce. The fish was perfect but the sautéed spinach was extremely salty! The potatoes were luke warm. I also ordered a side of maduros, but they were cold, too. My husband ordred the shrimp enchilados which came with rice, black beans and two pieces of maduros, that were cold as well. Our cousin ordred the shrimp mufungo appetiter as his meal and enjoyed it. Always a favorite. I go to this location at least a few times a year. A couple of friends and I decided to get a couple of drinks for Super Bowl Sunday. A couple of drinks turned into a few. The DJ is always a vibe, the bartenders were the bomb and the food was good. I ordered 3 rum punches, tostones and the vegan quesadilla. My friends ordered the Palomilla, white rice and black beans, one had 4 coconut mojitos, my other friend had 3 rum punches and then we finished off with lemon drop shots. read more

Went today for my girlfriend's birthday brunch. The DJ was awesome, he played a little of everything and it was the best! Had everyone dancing and singing in their seats. The pre fixe brunch menu was perfect: had the pastelon for appetizer, the churrasco w/scrambled eggs and for the drink: the passion fruit sangria which you have to get!!! Came back here again just tonight along with 2 friends (there first time ) and my wife who is more of a regular . Our waitress was Karen . She was excellent in every way possible. I had an incident with the salt shaker and the way it was handled is why the management and the staff here deserve all the success they have achieved. The food is consistently good which is extremely difficult to do in any restaurant. All the staff that touched our tables were , "service with a smile " . The drinks here are consistently good and well balanced . You would be surprised how many places wanna skim on the alcohol like people won't notice . The ambiance is always lively and the energy is contagious. It can be a bit too loud for some depending on where you're seated but many of the locals and regulars come for exactly that . The DJs here are always friendly and really know what they're doing . The bathroom is always clean. They just check all the boxes for me and there's a reason why so many people frequent this place even when there is so much competition. I baptized my God Kids today and came here after for a lunch celebration. We went to Made in Puerto Rico and couldn't be accommodated because we didn't have a reservation. Mind you the place was empty on a rainy day. Dime??? I also noticed the Brunch Menu was super limited. We headed on over to Havana Cafe and Im so glad we did. Large selection and not at all stand offish The service, food, music, ambiance was everything. They had me at old-school salsa and R&B. I ordered the picadera parrillada, picadera regular, wings, ribs, and everything was absolutely perfect. I cant wait to go back. The coconut mojito was deliciousness in a glass. On Friday May 22, I chose to go out with my best friend to eat at Havana. I frequently establish this restaurant. I'm highly upset with how the waiter treated my friend and I. He was rude and impatient. At one point he even told us the kitchen was going to close. Mind you it was rush hour. We had ordered appetizers, drinks and a main course. I even ordered food to go. I've been there enough to know that he was lying. I personally felt that he didn't like us from the moment we sat down. This is a business and you should treat your clientele professionally. This was my first negative experience at Havana. My friends and family were astonished to hear how my friend and I were treated. The food is really great at Havana and I truly hope that Leo does better going forward. The ambience was awful because the server made us extremely uncomfortable. He ruined the experience for my friend and I. I was afraid to complain to the manager for fear of reprisal. read more

Wow !! Glad my brother took me to try Havana Cafe for lunch. Upon entering it had a great Cuban vibe, salsa music was awesome and ambiance was soothing. Hostess took us to your table and within a few minutes our order was taken. Excellent menu and service. Our waitress was Maddy who was attentive with our order. The food came relatively quickly and wow delicious! Didn't have any cocktails but plan to come back with my wife to try the Mojitos. Hopefully they're strong as we like them then I will revisit this review and up the stars to 5. The only con was the empanadas in my opinion. Ordered chicken empanadas but instead of getting 2 or 3 empanadas, we only got a few on a plate. They were little tiny what looked like pellets. Chef, please find a way to make these like original empanadas and place 2- 3 nice size empanadas on a plate especially for $13. Ventured out to this spot while visiting family nearby. I went with the Shrimp Mofongo, and it really exceeded my expectations (I'm a Mofongo snob!) The texture of the Mofongo was rich; filled with crunchy chicharonnes, and topped off with a delicious creole sauce. The only thing I have to say wasn't that great was my cocktail. I had a great experience here from the venue to the server to the guys on the front they were very nice helpful and attentive. The only thing me and cousin thought was for nearly 50 dollars for a plate of antojitos not once slice of limon lol that we agreed should have came on plate. In all honesty Havana Cafe's food hits, but there workers and service make the environment poor. Security always has an attitude and is bored with their life, just like the servers and hosts. Been coming to Havana when it was under different management an and it was cool. But I think I will not be returning again. I went for a late lunch with my best friend to celebrate my daughter's 32nd chapter in heaven. It's a lively restaurant even early in the day. The ambiance is chill with Latin music playing in the background- not so loud that you can't hold a conversation. The menu is plentiful and mouthwatering. The food does not disappoint! We both had the pollo guisado. I had the white rice with maduros and my girlfriend had yellow rice with maduros & aguacate. For appetizers we shared bacalaitos. It was very different from our typical Puerto Rican bacalaos but then again, we were in a Cuban restaurant.... The service was great. Giving this place 3 stars because my party of 7 came here on a Saturday 2pm & were told we had to wait 45min for a table. That's fine but & the wait wasn't the problem. When we walked in to use the bathroom we counted 6 large tables that could easily accommodate us. Not sure what the problem was but they employees did not try to accommodate us in anyway. We had to wait outside & couldn't even get drinks at the bar. It was way too cold to wait outside with our 4 kids so we left. Great first time here. My server Larry was fantastic and the rest of the staff was amazing as well. Super friendly, patience and helpful since it was our first time here. Good sized restaurant, not super crowded even though it's Super Bowl Sunday. It was clean inside and out and outside there as well. Food: We had the Palomilla with rice and moro ($27) and Churrasco with rice and beans ($36). The chimi sauce was very creamy. We also, had the Pastelon Cubano (de rope vieja) $18, which was delicious. It had a sweetness from the plantains and a juiciness from the slow cooked shredded beef. Drinks: We had the cuban side cars ($14 ea.) and peach lemonades ($12 ea.) Both very good as well. I would highly recommend coming here and I'll definitely be back. Next on my food list is the Cubano and the Lechoncito. Next on my drink list is the tropical mojitos, macho and le grand fizz. We were celebrating one our Sistha's birthday....La Unica 42nd Bornday!!!!. The drinks were...were!!!. How can you order a Long Island Iced Tea and don't feel any of the long Island..just the Tea.....this is just my opinion. The pernil for our main course was ...was!!!! I don't think I was hitting for greatness. The music, the music, the music!!!!! It seems like allllllll the Spanish songs were up to date, but the African American songs were back in the days. I even asked the Dj can he play some (black) up to date songs. His response was to have to give it some time!!!! I forgot that it depends on where you go. Havana Cafe never fails me. I have been coming here for years and the food and drinks are consistently good. I am in love with their Alitas its always crispy and tasty. I tried the El Grande which is a lobster crab cake. It had a nice crispy crust and was delicious. I'm also hooked on their rum punch. I'm not sure of the ingredients but its a perfect blend. You should also try their homemade sangria which is not too sweet just a nice mixture. Since we are still in a Pandemic Havana Cafe is doing their part to keep everyone safe. The staff wears their mask, they check your temperature and they also get your contact information. They also have a beautiful outside dining area if you prefer to sit outside.
