I'm amazed at some of these bad reviews and how dumb they are. I'm half Dominican and grew up in New York. I married a 100% Dominican woman from the island that lived in Washington Heights after she left DR. This place has great food. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Some left a bad review because they said they ordered a quesadilla and fries that were OK. If you come to a Dominican restaurant and order a quesadilla and fries I'm sorry you are an idiot and know nothing about the culture or what to eat. So the ambiance. Is it a 5 star restaurant? No. Stop complaining about what they have to wipe your hands in the bathroom. If you are looking for a fine dining experience then go to Midtown. It's small, the music is LOUD at night and it gets crowded. If you don't like that vibe then go somewhere else. I've been to eat during the day when it's pretty empty and at night when it's packed. Service has always been good with longer waits if you go when there is a concert or an event at night. The food....very good. The only Dominican food I've had that is better has been food my wife cooked, my mother in law cooked or food in the Heights in New York. Definitely the most authentic Dominican spot here in Atlanta. The picadera is SO GOOD. Their beans taste just as good as what I get at home. My wife loves the Mondongo which is hard to make. Rabo is good so are the bistecs, the chuletas and the chicken I've eaten. I haven't tried the Mangu but my wife says it's good and she makes it AMAZING. I've said this before on reviews and will say it again. You have people expecting to get food like DR. Sorry people but we aren't in DR. We aren't in Washington Heights. I'd love to have it that good here but it's not going to happen. It's still doesn't make it bad. The food here is consistently good and I go often with my wife. Get the Picadera Dominicana. Had sooo much fun here! Came around 9:30 with a few friends and it was very calm inside, then 30 mins later after 10 pm the lights went down and the DJ came out and the party started! Overall experience was cool. The food was the best. Waitresses don't speak English, so ya better know some Spanish. There's no "specialty drinks" which I was expecting. Margarita it is...! Brought my 6yo & husband so, yeah, they're cool with family night. Ordered the fried pork chop w/ onions, stewed whole fish and the goat stew. Each dish came with rice alongside lettuce, cucumber slice and tomato. My daughter had the wings and fries. EVERYTHING was good. I truly disliked my experience at Mamajuana's. I showed up during the afternoon hours and although I appreciated the emptiness of the establishment the food still took some time to make. I ordered a pastelito and it was still cold in the middle. For you to get the most out of your time and money you must know exactly what you need to order. We ate at an odd time 4:30 pm so no one was really there, the server was so kind and recommended the specialities: rabo guisado, oxtail stew, polo guisado-chicken stew, and sopa de Mariscos. The rice and beans were huge portions! My oxtail soup was delicious... And so was the chicken stew! Seasoned well but we haven't tried it before so don't know what to compare it to..... Formerly Quisqueya Restaurant. Simply put? Loved it. First off, it's inside of a shopping center. So you have to go behind the gas station & into the shopping center to find the place or you'll miss it. It's a small place but very welcoming. My companion said that he felt as though he had just stepped back into DR. Now when we walked in the music was pounding but in a good way. It made you wanna dance immediately. I'd say the music has a mostly dominican flavor. They play salsa and merengue, but it's mostly Bachata. No complaints, that's what we were there for. The dance floor is small but it fits the atmosphere of the club. People didn't really start dancing until after midnight even though the DJ was wonderful. There are tables to sit at. If you call ahead, they will reserve one for you free of charge. There's no cover fee which is fantastic especially on a Saturday night around ATL. We decided to try the menu. I can't remember all that we got but trust.... The food was delicious and the portions were enormous! The bar was on point with the drinks. They weren't watered down at all and the glasses were a nice size. The waitress checked back with us frequently to make sure our drinks were steady flowing & to see if we needed anything. We were there for five hours. We had appetizers and meals and three or four drinks a piece. The whole night cost a total of $65 including the tip. We had a great time. Danced to great music. Ate delicious food and had done tasty drinks. I recommend this place to anyone for a truly fun night. read more

If this place wasn't so far from my apartment and their food was cheaper , I would go back. I went here because I had a scout mob coupon. Come to find out this place was more of a bar/lounge than the usual Mexican restaurant atmosphere. Based on the experiences here vs other places, I do believe the food was good, just a little on the high side of prices though(11.99 for fajitas). My husband, son and I were in the Lilburn area Saturday afternoon and I used Scoutmob to look for somewhere to eat lunch. Mamajuana was the closet so we decided to eat there. I'm so glad we did. The food was wonderful, especially the mofonga and my husband had the spaghetti & shrimp and it was great. Nice portions, reasonably priced and the service is steady. Not intrusive, but they are attentive to you. I was so satisfied that I forgot to use my Scoutmob coupon. But we will be back! read more
