Can't ask for a better day!

Really great course! The greens were phenomenal, and they are currently in the process of re doing their front nine so we will be coming back to golf that. It is loud (planes and helicopters and lots of wind) but it totally adds to the ambiance and makes it really fun. Can't be mad at a golf course for embracing its surroundings! Carts were great, prices were great, pace of play was nice. Customer service was great too! The only thing I docked a star for was the bathroom, it feels like it's in the middle of being renovated but there is no work being done. The women's room could use a little sprucing up! TIPS & TRICKS: * Be sure to take a look in the pro shop for some nice shirts or ball markers the commemorate your time here!

This course gets a ton of play on it and is in very good condition. The bunkers are some of the best I have played in Hawaii. The views are wonderful with many holes along the ocean and also for all the aviation geeks like myself the views of the planes on the runways and taxi ways are so much fun. The negatives there isn't a cart beverage service and on busy days the play is super slow. Tee times are must.

Being a fan of aviation and golf. I really loved this course. Everything about it was so relaxing. My son and I really enjoyed our time. Course was well taken care of care of. Pricing was good. Weather was beautiful. If I had any recommendations, I would say to have a snack car running. I plan to come every time I visit.

Been playing here for years every time I visit Honolulu. Charlie takes great care of us in the pro shop always smiling and enjoying life. The course is well kept and manicured. And the views! Wow! Several holes Border the ocean and on a few you get to see take offs and landings at the Honolulu International Airport as well as F22 Stealth Fighters practicing take offs and landings at Hickam AFB. Great golf in a gorgeous setting.

Quick bite to eat between an all day training. I have never even set foot on this golf course property and I am disappointed it's taken this long. The views are amazing and the simple snack bar style menu is perfect. Its simple and the food hits home. I ordered the burger which was delicious and perfectly sized. My coworkers had the pancake, fried rice omelet (I love this too!), and the egg & bacon sandwhich. We all collectively agree this place is great and definitely will be back!

Played here twice so may update later. The fairways are nice and flat so your ball rolls out much farther than at the other places I play at. The holes are very long...which is nice because I feel like I get my money's worth the airplanes are Really close, it feels like you can see the people in the windows...but I dont ever remember looking at golfers...it's a bit hard to find from the gate so I only go with my girlfriend who has a pass to us there. Too bad they dont have a civilian program like the Klipper course.

Mamala Bay is STILL our favorite once-a-month course to play. We always eagerly await our tournament and sometimes we'll try to get in a round or two extra within the month. We look forward to its challenges to our abilities and the lovely scenery that often distracts us. It's awesome to watch the commercial and Military planes takeoff and land. The course is always well-maintained. There's a new golf pro who has taken over the management reins and is committed to continue the smooth operation of this recreational service.

Played here several times over the past few months w/friends, but yesterday was the first time I played the twilight and was paired up with 2 other unknown golfers (thanks that they were cool dudes to play with since I am still learning the game). The twilight play is half price and starts at 330pm on the weekend (230 pm week days). Unfortunately the group ahead of us was really slow, but we were patience as they finished their round and our back nine went faster so we were able to get all 18 holes in. The staff was friendly and the course is decently maintained (some areas have been neglected and needs improvement). The view is great and the planes landing/departing in the back drop adds a unique experience. I don't mind the noise either, since I've worked around aircraft for the past 24 years. The overall golf outing at Mamala Bay is very good and I shot the best score yet.

Aloha Golf fans! Went to this course for the 1st time yesterday and loved it. Although it was burning the neck HOT!...we all had a great time. Beautiful course along the water and so near the airport runway, I waved at the pilot as he was taxing and he waved back. I different experience and if you haven't been all the way out there, you might want to consider driving out there so you know where you're going. It's reasonable, affordable, got a tee time immediately, staff was courteous and friendly and the snack shop was pretty darn good :) Great atmosphere to relax in after a HOT round of morning Golf!

On the day I went, they didn't have French fries as an option that is listed on the menu. If I recall, that was the case several months ago when I went there. But not to be at all disappointed when I was given a really delicious mixed green salad with fresh strawberry slices and craisins with a very yummy salad dressing. It was the more nutritious choice, so even though it was my plan B, it'll be my plan A option next time! Back to my entree. I had the loco moco. It came with a generous hand-made burger with brown gravy and a scoop of brown/white rice. The sunny side egg was perfectly cooked. I had some of the fish sandwich too. It was just as delicious as the last 2 times I got it. The fish was a thick slice that was lightly egg battered. The brioch bun was so soft and tasty. I loved that there was tomato and lettuce on it. A deluxe fish sandwich! I really like it! They were setting up for a private event with cloth covered chairs. Maybe a good idea to look into that for a future event. The restaurant is set up with a few chairs, a side room that was set up with long tables with chairs, and there's a bar with several bar stools. I've not ever seen the bar empty. Next time you're in the Moanalua Valley area, check it out!

As the fates would have it, I am lucky enough to return to Oahu each year and stay for extended periods. They say everyone yearns for their childhoods, and that you can't really go back. Smarter people than I have said we all do this on some level, because yearning for those simpler times offers emotional comfort and safety. (*Read this next part like a nerdy social scientist: "The childhood home often represents a place of unconditional love and safety, a stark contrast to the complexities of adulthood. The feeling is that of, "going home" to a sanctuary that cannot be found elsewhere. " This place... Moanalua Golf Club, is a place that matches pretty closely to my romanticized memories of my youth. My time there yesterday was a "time-travel-reconnection" to how I recall a more-simpler time growing up in Hawaii. In short...I loved everything about my visit to Moana Golf, and savored each special layer of Aloha that revealed itself to me. The course is the oldest in the Hawaiian islands. That, in itself, makes it worthy of placement on a golfer's bucket list. But in addition to its history, the course was fun. It's 9 holes, but I played it twice and on the 2nd trip around, with my knowledge of the dangers that lurk on each hole, I navigated the course, "mo-bettah, dis time." (that's the pidgin English, that I used to speak fluently, starting to come out.). The green fees are very reasonable, and the putting surfaces were really well cared for. The fairways have suffered from the recent drought and are dry, but they turned my 200 yd drives into 240 yd drives--so, "No monku frum me, Brah. Bumbai, my scoar-card...all choke wid da kine pars, yah?" (translation: "I'm not complaining, brother. By the time I finished, my score card had quite a few pars."). Not a speck of trash was to be found on the course. I always see this as evidence that the people who are involved with such places make the effort to give, "special-kine care" to keeping a place as nice as possible. In my memorized version of Hawaii, this special-care for places was part of one's kuleana, (Hawaiian for responsibility) and it results in a reciprocal love between places and its inhabitants. The best part of my visit here revolved around the people I encountered. The pace of life seems to be one from a by-gone era. It felt like coffees and da News-pay-pah were enjoyed before heading off into the day, Kindness and friendliness, in the form of the Aloha-spirt drips and flows here. It is not un-like the deep and velvety aroma that rises from pikake garlands. I would quickly find out that the hole* place was filled with a positive vibe.(*I intentionally misspelled, "hole" as an inside wink/playfulness. Translations of, "Moanlua" say that it means, "a pocket or hole". It can also mean a place where travelers can rest.) My visit here made me feel like I had found a pocket of, "1970's-style/ easy-paced/ old-school Hawaii-hospitality and vitality". As soon as I popped the trunk to grab my clubs, I started to feel the aloha energy that sits in this "pocket" of specialness. While pulling the trunk down to close it, felt a cool breeze pass. The course is located in a wide valley, and a gentle flow of cooler air seemed to always be on tap. I heard the waitress from the adjoining diner laughing with a patron. Apparently, something had been left behind on the diner's table and she was returning it. They carried on a playful conversation using the local dialect of English. I smile every time I hear it spoken. Hearing it brings me back to younger days. The starter was hilarious (he was professional and caring, but he splashed in a playfulness that got the round off to a good start). The golfing members of the club whom I interacted with on the fairways and near the club house shared a welcoming energy.--cracking jokes and speaking to me like I was Hoapili (close friend). The grounds-staff who were mowing and cutting shrubs were helpful and almost-overly respectful (more than once, they stopped their tasks, moved way-off the course to ensure they were not in our lines of sight, and then they gave, "shaka" signs and sincere smiles after our hits. "Oh, da kine, good wan! Chee hoo!". One example that kind-a stands out for me happened when I pulled into the parking lot's driveway. It's a bit narrow, and as fate would have it, a car was attempting to pull out, just as I was attempting to pull in. The driver, (who, I could not see, for the sun was shining on his windshield) without hesitation, pulled back to allow me to pass. We exchanged side-window shakahs of thanks and, "Aʻole pilikia" ("No big thing)... but, these kinds of small gestures can be a big thing in our lives of fast-paced living. I have a feeling that this is the norm in this place of refuge. In a word, this place is: Puanani.

We had to call multiple times to let him know we were still out on the course and finishing hole 4, he instantly acted annoyed that he had to turn the lights back on an hour before they closed. When we were in the middle of hole 6 at approximately 9:05pm, Gerry walked out to us and told us that our group of 6 with need to split into two groups because of "pace of play" . I would normally understand however there was absolutely no one else on the course and it would have taken us longer to finish waiting for half our group to finish each hole before the next half started because we had been hitting a few people at a time when we could. After he told us we needed to split up, he proceeded to say "you guys need to hurry the lights turn off in less than 20 minutes" which would be approx 9:20 pm. I proceeded to let him know online says 9:45pm and that never in the many times we have played have they turned off prior to that. His response was "okay 40 minutes then". While walking off he actively signed and let out a "whatever". We decided to skip a hole so we could have extra time to speak with him about the issues. We took our bags out to our vehicle at approx 9:35 pm after finishing hole 9. When we were getting ready to walk back in he already had the course and shop closed completely and was walking to his vehicle with his wife whom had been waiting on him. He was leaving before the course was supposed to even close. This was the absolutely worst visit, and we'd love the much older gentleman who use to run the pro shop back!

One feature I really enjoy is being able to track my stats and review my swing analysis videos directly in the Golfzon app on my phone -- something I can't get at a regular driving range. I also enjoy the flexibility of having private late-night sessions after a long day at work. It's a great alternative to the gym and a fun way to switch things up. Venue in Honolulu, Hawaii…read more.. I've been to Honolulu Country Club many times over the past years... From wedding receptions and baby showers to Junior Chamber of Commerce banquets and - most recently, a medical seminar... this place can transform according to the needs of the hosts! There are movable dividers that can change the size of the room, depending on the number of guests. This property in the Salt Lake district is well kept because of the members of the golf club, the housekeepers, and the groundskeepers. Outside, the grass is green and the plants are healthy. Inside, the decor could be updated, but it's functional. We parked in the members' area for free because security said no members would be coming at this time. We explained that we were here for the seminar and the gentleman was very accommodating. We were able to view the PowerPoint presentation easily because we arrived early and selected the best seats. Luckily, we brought jackets because the air-conditioning was on full blast! We helped ourselves to soft drinks in cans, ice cubes, napkins, and glassware. Later, the hot entrées, fresh fruits, cookies, and green salads were ready for us. The steamed fish, BBQ chicken, white rice, Sautéed veggies, and asparagus salad were delicious! Our used plates were taken away efficiently by the polite staff! It was nice to be back! This was a pleasant trip down memory lane!

Spicy chicken bites- the sauce with this is delicious. Seafood gyoza - good! My husband got the loco moco with fried rice and kimchi. Very delicious just wish had more gravy. I got the hamburger add cheese. Big Patty so I only could eat half. The fries it came with were crispy yet soft inside, my favorite. Would come back again to try their sandwiches

Easy and fun course, they aren't as strict on rules either. I've seen people in tee shirts, people…read morewalking their dog along the course, and a bunch of boys that just love being out there but hate maintaining the pace of play. Honestly though, every time I golf here I have a blast, I just go in knowing it's going to be chill chill! Easy and short course, if you want to play 18 your just do the nine holes they have twice. No front or back nine. Grateful they keep their water jugs filled and although I walk, I have used their carts before and I love that they have both ball and club cleaners attached! Nice touch. Cheap for military and civilians, I'm pretty sure if you're a civilian you can still get base access and play by yourself. Ask the pro shop for assistance there. There isn't a restaurant or clubhouse with snacks, so bring your own. But there is an awesome chipping green that is easy to get to and practice on! Putting green is available behind the tee blocks on hole one. TIPS & TRICKS: * Pack a raincoat and umbrella, it tends to drizzle up here more often than other courses.

We play here almost every week. Discourse can be challenging because the greens are fast. This is a fun nine hole only golf course or you can sharpen up your skills. Also, sometimes you can see some wild pigs running around.
