We went in for lunch on Monday, the atmosphere is very nice, the server we had was excellent, wonderful personality, very attentive, and the food was so good, we had chilaquiles with black beans. We will go again. The one draw back was the bakery, we purchased some to take home, the empanadas needed more filling and seemed to have been left from yesterday would not buy again but the cheese cake on top of brownie was very good. read more

An old famous location (Cake Lady) sporting a. new business. This place is maybe the second or third attempt to revive this location into a viable restaurant in Friendswood. I don't think you will be wowed by this place, but I think you will find the food is good. You order at the counter and they deliver the food to your table. Like I said the food is good, not exceptional, just cafe in south Texas good. Waitstaff consisted of one young lady (Maya) who was very good at her job. She was friendly and professional. In fact she was the only thing we found that was exceptional. The bakery is in full swing. And although we didn't have any sweets, we plan to give it a try. I think these folks will have to "up their game" to be successful around here. But we wish them greatness and will come back by in a few months. read more

The atmosphere was nice -- you grab a menu yourself, sit down, then go back up to order. There's no table service, which is fine, but for the fairly high prices, I expected a smoother experience. The food itself was okay for the price, but it came out before the drinks, which was a bit odd. The coffee wasn't good; it tasted like the grounds were burnt, and they forgot to bring out the iced coffee I ordered along with a pastry I had gotten to go. The cashier was polite and friendly, but seemed new and more focused on the current promotions than on making sure we received all of our food and drinks in the right order -- or at all. Overall, I would not recommend coming to this place, as it appears that management is not doing their best to ensure a well-run and satisfying customer experience. read more

First time going on a Sunday afternoon around 1pm to celebrate a friend's birthday (8 people), only 2 other tables occupied, it was so disappointing! One person in our group had to ask about her food that was ordered way before others placed/received their food, along with having to ask for so much like syrup/napkins/straws/where's the drink that was ordered, to my biggest negative in the experience... I ordered a Frappuccino, which cost $6.75, I asked the server what flavors, in which she just told me the different milks and caramel and chocolate in which I ordered the almond milk and I asked if I could have caramel and chocolate, I was never told that it would be an additional three dollars when I ordered it, so to my surprise I was about to pay over $9.65.for a small Frappuccino that should've been no more than four dollars total, I was completely shocked and let the server know I was not happy about the shocking total, she walked away and spoke to whoever and they took off the additional three dollars, I thought $6.75 was still pretty high to pay for the mediocre drink which wasn't sweet at all. I'm giving this a rating of a one star because I think the place is literally overrated, I absolutely will not be back and if anyone ever asked me about the place I will definitely tell them it's not worth it based on my experience. The atmosphere was OK, but it could use some work. read more

Our family of three visited this restaurant today . The blueberry muffin had been microwaved and was extremely hard and tough . The chicken nuggets were over microwaved and dry and hard . The Greek salad had head lettuce a few small tomatoes cut in half and green and black olives only no Greek dressing no feta cheese nothing else big disappointment . The green sauce was definitely homemade and the cashier/server was incredibly kind and helpful. its just the cutest little cozy place to take time out for a fresh homemade breakfast, lunch or dinner. Incredible experience.. Needed a cake for an Engagement Party without a lot of time.. I messaged and sent a picture of a cake I found that fit our color scheme.. Rustika owner replied promptly and was more than accommodating.. Everything was handled by phone and when we picked up it was EXACTLY what I wanted and it was perfection.. Best looking and best tasting cake I have ever had.. There was not one drop of cake leftover. I would highly recommend this company for any cake or dessert need you may have.. and I will make sure all my friends know about this wonderful establishment... Came to this place to get a pastry Togo, I was hoping for a cherry turnover but they were sold out. I settled for a chocolate croissant and it was fabulous. The perfect amount of chocolate ratio to croissant. Light and flaky the way a croissant should be. They had a pretty good selection of stuff to chose from. Went there for Valentines breakfast with my husband. I was expecting a waitress. When you walk in and you pick up a menu and sit anywhere you want. Then you have to get up and go to the front to place your order. you have to get your own coffee and your own water. I ordered the Rustika avocado toast. It was very pretty and Tasted OK. My husband got the chorizo and eggs. It came with a piece of toast that looked old and black beans that were flavorless. I had ordered the white chocolate raspberry 6 in cake that everybody raves about. It was $40. So our breakfast and cake for that morning came to $75. Will not be going back. read more

My wife and I stopped in for breakfast this morning.  They have a variety of delicious options for breakfast.  We ordered Huevos Rustika (ham quesadilla topped with fried eggs and homemade red salsa) and a Rustika Combo (Two eggs, two pancakes, bacon).  Both were accompanied by their excellent coffee.  On our way out we grabbed a couple of pastries and a fried hand pie to enjoy later. This place is adorable! I had the huevos ahogados and it was delicious, spicy, and the poached eggs were cooked perfectly; they also cooked my bacon to absolute perfection. Their honey wheat toast, while simple, is outstanding. And the black beans... well, they have customers that buy them by the quart and I'll probably be on that list too. They were the best! Service was great as was the atmosphere. They've got a lovely little bakery area too where there were many varieties of decadence to choose from. We will be back for sure. read more

I ordered the Texas Crepe and it was very good. It had a lot of different meats in there and they all blended well together. The second time I ordered the lunch chicken sandwich and tomato basil. It was different because it had a mango in it. The tomato basil was really good as well. I have tried a couple desserts too: merengue, empanada, carrot cake, and others. We went for the first time this morning. We got the bacon & cheese omelet +onion. It was quite good. We also got a slice of Italian Cream Cake which was also excellent. I use to go here with some frequency when it was The Cake Lady. This seems to be one of the few (only?) breakfast place in Friendswood, so they should do a good breakfast business. __ We've eaten out every meal for 30 years not counting a year of COVID. read more

I purchased a custom made cake for my daughters birthday 9.10.22. The cake was BEAUTIFUL, unfortunately the taste was not what I was use to from Rustika. The cake was very dry which was so dissapointing as I know their cakes to be fantastic. I could not beleive what I was tasting. This was my first tiime using this location. I usually purchase from the location of off 59. I am dissapointed in the quality of the cake itself, if only it could have been just a good as the quality of the decoration...I will think twice about ordering again based on the huge difference in quality of taste. I was here on their first day of opening and ordered the Flourless Chocolate Cake,1 Apricot Jam Cookie and 1 Raspberry Jam Cookie togo. All 3 were fantastic. The Flourless Chocolate Cake is my # 1 favorite menu item here. It is so delicious and full of creamy rich chocolate. It is a chocolate lover's dream dessert. It has thick layers of both dark and milk chocolate. It has a soft mousse texture to it, but it's not fluffy like some mousse and not too solid like some flourless chocolate cakes can be, but like a dense chocolate cream in a rectangular mousse cake form. The cookies both had prominent fruit filling flavors, powdered sugar and a buttery flaky cookie texture to them too. Both were delicious. The absolute most disorganized service I have ever seen at a restaurant. We were there on Thursday morning at 11:30 AM before the lunch rush, and that's when everything fell apart. The restaurant was not full. We ordered two plates and 45 minutes later we received half of the first plate. I started to notice that other tables orders were coming out in random pieces just like ours. My father received is eggs and bacon but not his hashbrowns. I never even received my plate. The tables next to us received a few of their plates but not all of them. It seemed that the cook was just outputting food at convenient intervals instead of full orders. The two girls running the cash register and serving food were lost and useless. They didn't know where to go or what to do as they received food from the kitchen. The food looks good, but be aware that you are probably going to get a single plate as a multiple course meal while others in your party may or may not receive parts of their meal. If you're on the schedule, go somewhere else. We asked for our money back and left. read more
