Food - 4.5/5 Service - 4/5 Ambiance - 3.5/5 I had only heard mixed reviews regarding this place going in, so I figured my experience was going to be the same, but it was an overall very positive one. The ambiance was nice as we walked in, and after being quickly seated next to a window, the atmosphere was nice. They did end up covering the window before we started eating, and the little bulb way above us and candle did not really provide light enough for us to eat (I get it is mood lighting, but I like seeing what I eat). The food was really solid, though. A few times I've been in the past it was all too salty, but this time around it was much better. I got the Farm Bird, and it was very juicy and had a very nice crunch. The Fish and Chips were nice and flaky, while the Pork Chop was extremely juicy and rich. The shrimp in the rigatoni was definitely oversalted, as well as the broccolini greens in the pork chop dish. The appetizers we got (Brussels Sprouts and Spinach Artichoke Dip) were both okay, though I prefer garlic bread to the chip for the dip and the sprouts were a little one note. The whiskey cake itself was very good, though I recommend only one plate for a group of 6 or less because of how rich it is, especially if you get the ice cream addition. I am writing to share feedback regarding our recent Valentine's Day dinner at this Whiskey Cake. We have always enjoyed dining here until this dinner date we experienced. Although we understood it was a busy holiday evening, the overall service felt extremely unorganized. It was very apparent that employees were rushing, and the atmosphere felt chaotic rather than coordinated. My drink was made incorrectly twice. We ordered the same dishes we typically enjoy, but this time the plate presentation was noticeably different and appeared rushed, as if the food had simply been placed on the plate without care. Additionally, we chose to take a slice of cake to go instead of dining in for dessert, yet we waited over 25 minutes just to receive it. Limited Pleasure! Allow me to start off by saying it was delicious fulfillment and they never seem to fail. This location near the Baybrook Mall is perfect for shopping and dining. Plenty of room and fast service. The severs are amazing and work to get it right for you everytime. The noise level is always pleasant and you can actually hear the music as well. First up is the Farmers Market Soup. Initially, I thought a cup of this would suffice and I was gravely mistaken, so I ended up ordering a bowl, after finishing the cup. Simply said a sweet potato has been transformed into an such an array of flavors that your palette begs for more. Next up will be the Fire Roasted Veggies, who stand firm and flavored coming straight from the grill to you plate and then your table, only to be found by your fork to be appreciated by you. I wanted to add an update to my review. I visited yesterday to celebrate my brother's birthday and I will say that they have revamped the menu included more vegan options. There was one vegan salad and hummus plate. I didn't have to get something off of the sides menu. I ordered the hummus plate with vegetables and pita bread and the farm salad. Now I would add an extra star if the portion size of the salad was the same as the hummus plate. It was a very small bowl of leafy greens with a few grape tomatoes. The hummus plate was huge for it being an appetizer, I didn't expect for it to be bigger than the actual entree. I think next time I come, I'll stick with eating only the appetizers to make it into a meal. You get more of your money's worth (especially in this economy). The service was great! Our waitress was attentive and we didn't even know she was training. She did very well! I love the ambiance. I love vintage and antique things, but never been a fan of farmhouse vintage decor, but Whiskey Cake does it so well considering there's no musty odor of the old stuff. We really enjoyed this nicer sit-down dinner spot next to Baybrook mall. Menu was upscale American fare with pretty reasonable prices. Service was excellent and we were seated promptly despite it being a busy Friday night. We got the crispy cauliflower and crab fritter bites apps and went with the French onion burger with fries for my entree. The portions were decent and quality was great overall between food and drinks. This was so disappointing! We stopped by for drinks and light bites before going to the movies. It took almost fifteen minutes to get the margaritas we'd ordered, and they had salt on them even though we had asked for no salt. We did not send them back, as we did not want to wait another 15' to get the right drinks. The crab fritters were okay, nothing memorable. The burger was totally underwhelming and overcooked, but I did like the fries it came with. The ambiance was laid back, and the decor very pretty too. Parking was abundant. As expected, we came back and again had an amazing meal! For cocktails, I got the American pie and my partner had the bohemian raspberry. Both were delicious and on the sweeter side which I enjoy. For food, I got the French onion burger. This was very good, but a little on the wet side - this was to be expected based on the description, but I may opt for something else next time since it left me feeling a little greasy. I came for brunch with my girls. And OMG, I was not expecting this. It's true, never judge a book by its cover. I've always seen this place, decided to look at the menu and figured, nah. Then the girls decided to have brunch here. I ordered the Chicken and Waffles which is what I usually get for brunch. Idk what that waffle is made of but TRY IT! Came here for a brunch date. Whiskey Cake is one of many restaurants in this general area. One thing about this spot is it consistently stays busy. It is not connected to the mall but it does share a lot with other businesses. Parking can be hard to find in their lot, especially at peak times. They do take reservations through OpenTable which I wasn't aware of, so we did have a slight wait. Customer service was great from start to finish. What Whiskey Cake is known for is that they are farm to table and use the freshest ingredients. They also make everything from scratch and made to order. We started off with a couple of cocktails. How can I come to a place with whiskey in the name and not get something along those lines. I went with the Cold Fashioned. The name alone spoke to me. I love coffee and I love Old Fashioneds. The bourbon and cold brew conconction was absolutely tasty. My dining companion had the mimosa flight. I tried a sip of all of them and they were good. They have quite an impressive whiskey selection if that's your thing. They also serve cocktails, beer and wine. Something for everyone. For food, we started off with the goat cheese fondue. I am not even much of a goat cheese guy, but this was actually pretty tasty. The garlic confit really made it extra tasty for me. When it comes to brunch, I am almost always going to get a breakfast dish. Breakfast is the best meal of the day! I went with the Farmer's Breakfast because I like a well rounded breakfast. This dish had eggs, millionaire candied bacon, potatoes, a jalapeno cheddar biscuit and grits. Kind of basic yet elevated because of the quality of the ingredients they use. I really didn't have to do anything extra to the dish because everything was seasoned just right. The best part was the sweet and savory bacon. One final thing about Whiskey Cake is that you can not come here and not get their namesake whiskey cake for dessert. I have come here just for dessert before. I am a sticky toffee pudding fiend. It's probably one of my favorite sweet endings to a meal and if a menu has it, I'm getting it. They do it very well here. They had a different type of fries than what we had last time so we wanted to try it. But honestly, if I were to order it again, I'd get my sandwich with chips instead of fries. I would say this is THE place for Bourbon/Whiskey fans and enthusiasts! They have a huge selection of bourbon/whiskeys including hidden gems (aka the hard to find bourbons). My hubby and I have been on the bourbon hunt and were so happy to find some bourbons we've been searching for to try. We were able to get a pour of Stag, Eagle Rare, EH Taylor, and Four Roses! Our bartender was awesome, she even let us take pictures of our drinks with the bottle! What would have made our experience better would be for them to have Glencairns for the bourbon, instead I think they have whiskey tasting glasses. We were mainly there for the bourbons so we sat at the bar and ordered some appetizers. Highly recommend their Butcher Board which is their charcuterie board that includes cured meats, cheese, grapes, and bread. Also ordered the Roasted Garlic Hummus, sadly could not taste the garlic and the added spices and seeds wasn't for me. Because the name of the kitchen/bar is Whiskey Cake, you gotta try it! The cake was nice and moist, not too sweet, and the pecans balanced out the sweet bourbon anglaise. It was a pretty big cake so I would recommend sharing it with someone. Overall it's a good casual bar for sipping bourbon, if you're not into bourbon neat, I saw a lot of people ordering Old Fashioned, not to mention they have different kinds of Old Fashioned. Went her on a Sunday afternoon, the food was incredible.. we had the humus, Brussels sprouts, the rotisserie chicken that was SLAMMING with flavor, my mom and aunt had the salmon which they enjoyed and my sweet pea really loved her Mac and cheese kids meal.
