We had an engagement dinner here with about 20 people. The food was out of this world. We had a plethora of seafood, pasta, meat and cheese boards and bottles of wine. The server was very sweet and as attentive as she could be for a party of 20. I'm giving this 4 stars because even though everything else was great, it's pretty expensive. As always, this place hits! I took my mother here for the first time for her birthday and she absolutely loved it! Everything came out so well done and the bread was fresh too! We were among the very first people to walk in the doors as they just opened and food was just so on point. I had the garden salad and my mom had the short rib over risotto special and it was delicious! Whether we come here for a quick slice of pizza for lunch or a nice sit-down dinner, the food is always excellent. My favorite dish is the chicken Parmesan. The portion is more than adequate. I usually end up taking some home for lunch the next day. The quality of the food is also excellent. The chicken always tastes fresh and I absolutely LOVE their garlic knots. Mama's is perfect for large parties as well. We have had a group as large as 12 people and had no issues getting seated within a reasonable amount of time. There is usually a slight wait on Monday and Thursday when they offer special discounted dinner menus if you don't get there early enough. However, the turnover is usually a steady pace. I'd definitely recommend Mama's if you're looking to have a great tasting authentic Italian meal. read more

CHECK YOUR BILL!! Second time in a row with 2 different waiters that I was way overcharged. Party of 2 we each ordered the lunch special at $12.95 with 1 soda and 1 water. I was charged for 1 soda with 3 refills at $3 each and a milk at $2.50. I hate to pay for refills at a restaurant so when I was overcharged by $11.25 on such a small bill, I think that's ridiculous. Last time we ordered 2 sodas and were charged for 8. Two different waiters. I spoke to the manager who said he would speak to the waiters. When I explained that I thought $3 for refills is a little excessive, he said "you're not at Taco Bell who can do that because they are owned by Pepsi". I heard really great things about this place from my bf and his family so I decided for my graduation day, which was a Sunday, we would go. There were 7 of us and the place was packed, but luckily there wasn't much of a wait. The service was great and the food was fantastic. Top notch. I even took home a doggie bag of leftovers which says a lot because I'm known to finish everything on my plate. We got the appetizer sampler, I got the gnocchi with meat sauce and we all had garlic knots and salad. The only thing that I would say was odd was my aunt who walked in a few minutes after us said the hostess was sort of short with her and had a little attitude. We stopped here on our way out east on a Friday night at 7:30 after trying to get into several packed restaurant's along the way. Although they were very crowded they greeted us kindly and assured us they can seat us right away. The service we received was so terrific. Everyone was so pleasant and on their game with speedy service. The hostess and waiter and buss-boys came by during the delicious meal (with hearty portions I might add) to make sure we were satisfied with everything. I was so impressed with the food, portions and quality of service which seems to be so rare to see these days that I had to take the time to write about it in hopes that the proprietor of this restaurant will know that they have the right recipe to make a great successful restaurant! Have been coming here for many years. Hands down my favorite Italian restaurant. The portion sizes are hugee and come with pasta or salad. If you dine in, you will also receive a basket full of fresh hot garlic knots. Get the balsamic dressing for your salad, it is made in-house and is just so good. Trust me. Mondays are pasta night and thursdays are chicken night. Have been to both many times, and the deal is so worth it. Many options to choose from, you'll probably make yourself confused. If you want pizza or a quick bite for lunch this place has so many amazing specialty slices. They're on the pricier side but it's double the size you normally would get. The dinner menu has a great selection of anything you'd want. I always try a new appetizer with my family when we're there, and no one has ever had something they don't like. Came here for a date night with the bf and also to celebrate an occasion. The place was crowded inside which was a little surprising considering COVID restrictions and the option for outdoor seating but we still felt safe. We went on a Thursday night, which was Chicken Night! Where you can order a chicken entree that comes with either penne or linguine, a salad to start, and a slice of NY style cheesecake with a cup of tea or coffee for dessert all for about $18-$19! I was worried it'd be expensive but we ended up having a nice Italian dinner without spending a ton of money. They get 3 stars for their customer service. The guys attending me were really nice. However, if it wasn't for them I would have given this place ZERO STARS. How do you mess up a plain pizza slice? That is beyond me. The quality used to be pretty good. I would not recommend grabbing a slice if you feel adventurous. I also grabbed a sweet and spicy sesame chicken slice and it was horrible. I get it, it's not a Chinese restaurant so I would not expect sesame chicken to be their strong point. However, I tried the crust to see if I could justify spending the money, but it was terrible. I really tried to eat the food because I don't like spending money on things I am going to end up wasting. However, I left the experimental slice alone and sadly ate the plain slice. I want to blame this on Covid. Hopefully if I ever decide to visit again in the future you guys will get the trusty plain slice right. Stopped by for a quick pizza slice Saturday night 8/25/2018. Pizza was burnt - see picture below. I politely informed the guy behind register about the problem. He seemed not to understand at first then I showed him the slice. He said to give him a few minutes. After about 25 minutes and 15 customers served a servant guy asked us what was the problem. We explained that to him as well. Still nothing was done. Not willing to wait any longer I returned pizza to register saying thank you for a 'nice' pizza. People behind register stood silently without apologizing as if it happens every day and they were used to it and did not care. read more

If you want Italian food then this is the place to go. I've never had a bad meal here. It's not cheap but you get what you pay for! The one thing though is that you'll pay through the noise if you want a soda. They're $3 a glass and no refills. I just left the place spending $12 for soda. This is their one downfall and they don't say a thing, the waiter will just say" would you like another " and you nod yes and bang another $3 soda appears. But at least the meal is good. The bald headed counter guy Sal (I think that's his name) has the personality of a dead snail. Not a pleasant guy. Actually he seems quite miserable. From the moment you walk in you know you're in a classy place. From the decor to the food's presentation, everything is spot on. The pizza is some of the best on the Island-so I figured I'd try a meal. My first dinner was seafood with pasta. It was almost too large of a portion and the taste was top of the line. After a good-five minute discussion about the wines, the waiter brought me a taste of one he suggested-which I then ordered. It pains me to write this review as I have been coming here since they were just a small pizza spot as a kid. Mamas has been my go to for Italian dinner and take out for years now, usually every Sunday and even once during the week as well. Usually the food is amazing and the service is great as well, however last week an experience prompted me to write this review. My mother and her friend had gone in for dinner on a weekday night and sat on the left hand side ( pizza side ). The server proceeds to the table and makes a comment to her friend saying "how nice of you to take your mother out ( referring to my mother )" , even though my mother and her friend are only a few years apart! Following this comment my mother asks to speak to the owner or manager and after speaking with him and telling him what the problem was, he just walked away and paid no attention to it. The servers behind the counter even had a chuckle at the comment. I can't believe an establishment would 1) make a comment like that and 2) go about the problem as if nothing happened. All of my family and friends used to go to this restaurant and now they will not after the details I have told them. I wish I could leave 0 stars. read more

So i walked into mamas to pick up pizza. The food is good never had too much of a complaint in that area. But the woman owner/manger black haired lady is so disrespectful and nasty. This is the second time in two months that i have gone there and she is berating her employees in front of customers. The first time i said shes just having a bad day and its busy... (still no excuse but hey were all human right?) I walked in a few nights ago and there she is again completely yelling at one of the employees AGAIN! THE EMPLOYEE WAS BASICALLY IN TEARS! The way she spoke to them left such a bad taste in my mouth that i will NEVER go back! These waiters and waitresses are where u make your money. The are front of the house employees that upsell and bust their tails to make sure your customers COME BACK by giving them great service. This woman should be ashamed of herself for treating anyone like that let alone the people that are helping you RUN your business! Ive worked in restaurants hospitals schools a jail and yet i have NEVER been spoken to like that by any employer! Do better as a human! You are whats wrong with this world!
