Two words: Pasta night... Two more words: Chicken night. Every time I eat at Mama's on either one of those special nights it is ridiculously hard to choose from the list of delicious entrees on the menu. It dosn't matter, though, because while you decide what you are going to order they leave a delicious basket of garlic knots for the table. I've been coming to this place for years. My husband and I had been coming to Mama's for years. Their food is always good although it's become expensive lately. That said the owners are extremely rude and refuse to cater to the customer. In their minds, "the customer is always WRONG." We came in on a recent Saturday evening (approx. 6:15). In true Mama's fashion, we waited about 30 - 45 min to get seated. When we were finally seated, it took longer than usual for our waiter to come to our table but he eventually did and took our dinner orders which were just two entrees (no appetizers or anything extra). We waited and waited and finally they brought our salads (but no garlic knots - our waiter said " they were in the oven"). At the same time, we noticed that the other tables around us were getting their food (and their garlic knots). So we patiently wait and wait....after half an hour (it was already 8 o'clock) we still had not gotten our entrees (although the garlic knots finally arrived). During our wait, no one came over (not even our waiter) to tell us the status of our order. At this point, we got up and and decided to leave the restaurant. As we were leaving, I told the owner what had happened and in true Mama's fashion, she argued with me and a confrontation ensued. We will never go back. We will find another Italian restaurant to go to without the hassle and aggravation and hopefully we will be treated like human beings. read more

Chicken night is where its at! I eat for 2 nights!! Food delicious! The balsamic dressing is to die for!!!!! The chicken in vodka sauce is the best! I think ill be there this week for chicken night!!! Only downside is no American express but i get it! read more

The service was excellent, Dan was the waiter, one of the most professional I have encountered on Long Island. There has only been one other in all the dining experiences that equals his caliber The meals were well above average and the portions were good sized. We each had a chicken platter and each one taste unique and was served hot. The desert was delicious and the coffee fresh, well balanced and tastey. First of all, I only gave the one star because our server was very sweet. That being said, our experience at Mama's tonight was, to put it mildly, horrible. My mother's dish came out cold & while mine was less than hot, I did not want to send it back & have to wait while the rest of our party ate. However, the dish had no flavor, so our server said she would take it back & have it made with a different sauce. Over 10 minutes later, the owner/manager Grace came out with the same dish that the server had removed & proceeded to argue with me about its lack of flavor. Based on her behavior & her lack of respect for both our party & our server (who supposedly got in trouble for bringing it back), I was turned off to the entire situation. In addition, by the point she came out, the rest of my party was done eating. As a result, I wound up not eating anything. We had picked Mama's based on prior experiences there & because it was my birthday. Given the horrible experience of tonight, I won't be returning. Thanks for making my birthday, Grace!!! read more

I went here with my husband and my daughter on a Friday night and it was AMAZING! It was a little crowded, but got seated right away. The portions are humungous and so delicious. Waiter was all over the place when telling us the specials, he came over when our drinks were empty and didn't offer a refill, we asked for the bill and he came back to every table surrounding us with their bill and continued to take his time with ours. Told us $30.95 for one of the specials so we ordered it but on the bill it was $44.95 and he just said "oh sorry" and walked away without a care. We then asked for the manager who was equally as useless, telling us the waiter would not have said $30.95, maybe $39.95 so that's what she changed it to. Would never have ordered a steak with a small size of potatoes for $45. read more

I'll start off by saying I haven't visited this place in a while, I think since before the remodel however I feel that I must've gone to a complete different Mama's Pizzeria than most of you. The staff was not pleasant at all, the food was mediocre at most and this place is more often than not overly busy especially on the nights they have specials. Yes the portion sizes are very generous but I much rather have a normal sized portion with great taste than to have a meal that compensates flavor with size. Although I cannot comment on their pizza I must give credit where credit is due and that is that their garlic knots are nothing short of delicious. On the other hand their cheese cake is out if this world but I then came to find out it is purchased from a third party, so I can't really give them that. But what really gets me is the fact that they do in fact treat their employees with very little respect and do not pay them what they deserve. Wow. I can't even fathom to count how long I have been coming here. The hubbs and I first started coming here when it was nothing than a simple pizza joint. We fell in love with their free garlic knots that come free with any dinner order. Now the place has spruced up a bit, and I come here maybe twice a month for their pasta night Mondays!! (A girl gots to treat herself sometimes). I usually order something different every time, and while I don't have an overwhelming fave, I can tell you the portions are huge!!! Enormously so! When I was younger, I may have had the metabolism to eat it all, but now that I'm wilting away, the "to go" boys are my swiftly quick friends. Leftovers are enough for the next day and possibly the day after that. The hubbs always gets his Gorgonzola creamed sausage with pasta (Abruzzi?) and he's happy as a clam. They also have chicken night Thursdays (yummo), but because of work restrictions, I am content with my pasta Mondays for now. We also love their tiramisu!! Hands down the bestestestestest (;-) I've had. But, we usually get a free cheesecake with our pasta night anyway, so it's all the desert we can muster for the night. See you guys soon!! I have only ever visited Mama's on a Monday night during their $9.95 pasta special. The food is usually very good. For $9.95 you get fresh, hot garlic knots, a side salad, your pasta dish (which is always enough food to take home for dinner the next night and sometimes even enough for a lunch after that), coffee, and cheesecake (excellent cheesecake). Where Mama's falls short and makes me decide that the very inexpensive $9.95 and good food is just not worth it is how the wait staff treats the customers. Over the past 2-3 years I must have visited Mama's about 6-10 times, and each time I probably have had a different waiter/waitress. Each one either rushes you right out the door, or is too busy and forgets you're even there. Usually I feel rushed out the door. I remember several occasions where my wife and I were still eating our salad when the main course was already served and then the waiter asking me if I'm ready to pack up my leftovers while I am still holding my fork. I believe the waiters/waitresses treat the customers like this so they can squeeze in some extra tables during the night and obviously some extra tips from those extra tables. I even once had a waiter bring my wife and I our salads before we even ordered any food so that he could claim the table away from another waitress. Bottom line is that the food is good, cheap, and plentiful. The bad is that you'll usually be treated as an assembly line, not a customer. The times you won't feel like an assembly line are the times the staff is too busy and forgets you altogether. read more

When Tropical Storm Sandy hit, they were the only place around with electric! Obviously they were smart enough to invest in a generator. That alone earned them a star in my book! :-) Pizza: The pizza is good. It is just like most pizza places around. The guys that make it and give it to you aren't the friendliest but they are civil. I guess they are a little more no-nonsense than I prefer. Sit Down Service: Very pretty atmosphere. Service has been consistently friendly and good. My friend and I went on Monday night. Little did we know that is the FAMOUS night around here. IT'S PASTA NIGHT! We didn't know what exactly that meant but when we saw the crowd, we knew we wanted to find out. We got there about 6:30 and had a 15 minute wait. Not bad at all. The waiters were very efficient so we weren't there very long but we also didn't feel rushed through the meal. We felt like we were there for as much time as we needed without overdoing it. When we were seated, we asked the waiter what pasta night consisted of. He handed us each a menu with what had to be 30 or 40 choices...any of which were $12.95 each. In addition to each entree, we got: garlic knots, a salad, a piece of cheesecake and coffee or tea. My friend ordered a seltzer and they charged an extra $2.25 for that, which I thought was steep considering water is free and they are just adding a little CO2 to it. The food itself on pasta night: The servings were HUGE. Like REALLY HUGE. They brought my meal on a platter! I took most of it home. The flavor was excellent. We were stuffed and happy when we left. There is a sharing charge if you share a meal. I can't remember how much...$3 or $4. I've had about 6 meals there over the past year and a half and I haven't been disappointed. This place is hands down one of the best Italian eateries in Long Island. Mamas is known for their Monday night specials. Every monday night there is like a Saturday night, full staff full house. Their bread and salads are very good. Their baked pastas like ravioli, manicotti and lasagna are legendary. I've been coming here since I was a young girl back before the renovation. This place will always be my favorite Italian restaurant the food is simply to die for the fried calamari and The chicken Parmesan are by far my favorite and don't forget the garlic knots. The staff is always friendly and the owners are amazing. When my mom had passed right after the wake me and my sister called an explained what happened and that we were going to come in with a large group of family. Me and my sister were so distraught over the loss that we just explain to grace that we were coming with family and that was all, she did everything else and the food was amazing she treated us with such kindness and made sure everything was good for our family. Been coming for years and will never find a better more delicious italian meal on long island. The portions are almost family style and the pink sauce is to die for. Over stuffed baked clams are thr most delicious things youll ever eat. Roman ravioli is unique and UNBELIEVABLE. Never a problem with any staff or waiting. Absolutely delicious food. I have been here twice so far and each time the food was delicious and large portions. I had the spaghetti and meatballs the first time and it was almost as good as my grandmas. Then I tried the chicken parm flatbread. Mama's is awesome for sit down and take out. A little bit more on the pricey side but worth it. The staff is always very attentive. The healthy person in me always want to order a salad but once you look at the menu that person gets sat on by Bolognese and gnocchi that will blow your mind. The restaurant it self is beautiful, they have a small bar in the back. They have the dining area and the pizza counter separate which is nice because then you don't have to see people in their pjs while you're trying to have a nice romantic night. I'll start off on a positive note. You get a lot of food for your money. I ordered chicken parm and it came with spaghetti, salad and bread. It was $22. This is the only reason I even give one star... I would give 0 if I could. On to the food. It was gross. The chicken was soggy... and tasted like it was pre-made definitely not made fresh. Almost tasted like frozen chicken cutlets or something. There was almost no cheese on the chicken it wasn't even covered so half the meal with just soggy chicken in sauce. Stopped for lunch, haven't been there in a long time, everyone waiting in front of counter, had to ask every one if they were in line, they all said no there waiting, the people behind the counter never said Hi can I help you; just what ull have? I ordered, waited with the rest, and when my pizza was done they just called out what kind of slice I ordered; took the money and that was it. Never said THANK YOU. Pizza is not that good; but slices are big, don't know if i'll go back and I grew up in Copiague. I remember when they first opened and they were in the little store 3 doors down and you would walk in and they said Hello how can I help you and after you paid they said THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!! Went here for date night, the hostess sat us at a table right by the door on a freezing cold night in January. When we asked for a new table they told us they would check on it and they never came back. Our waiter was awesome, gave great recommendations - Calamari to start, chicken Parmesan and the ricotta stuffed rigatoni vodka- delicious!!! It is not just a pizza shoppe- they have the best pasta dishes you can ever imagine. Get the penne alla vodka, it's a local favorite and you will not be disappointed. Mama's is home to the best salad dressing i've ever had. You will be missing out if you don't try their balsamic vinaigrette. My best friend Tammi and I often say that it should be a food group within itself. All of the pasta dishes are amazing and the staff is always friendly.
