Grilled Pork Vermicelli
Julia M.

Not edible at all. I wouldn't recommend anyone to eat here. I've been very sick since my 1pm lunch here hours ago. My brother finished his pho which he said was bad, but he was starving. After 3 bites of my pork noodle salad bowl, and a drink of thai tea, I was very nauseous. As soon as the flies started hovering over my table that was it, I put the bowl of fish sauce over top of my meal and let me brother finish. Other cons: Dated interior Young staff gathered around the register Dark and sticky ambiance Warm water served in old red plastic cups which melted the 4 ice cubes within a minute

Pho Tai Puyallup is a place for you to have a quick lunch or casual dinner. It isn't a fancy place for you to dine in, but it's obviously the place for you to cure your hangover with. The young lady that provided me with service on that day was fine. She was fast and efficient in handling all the tables during lunch hours. I ordered fresh spring rolls and large pho bowl (steak, brisket, tendon, and stripe). While the pho broth wasn't as flavorful as the other Pho restaurants I've tried, it was still tasty when I added Hoisin sauce into it. The spring rolls were great, too.

Food: the food is really good. I've ordered here a few times already. Anytime I want to get my pho on this is one of the places I go. The portions are big even when you order the small. Service : service is dependent on if it's busy or not. When there's more customers it's a bit slower but that's ok it's busy so it's understandable. Ambiance: I like their jams, they always play good music. It's very casual

Number 15 (after I added toppings, hosin, and siracha). It's supposed to come with tendon, there was no tendon it either of our two bowls.

The server was kind and they did the bare minimum. Take orders and bring food. Not checking in on how the food was, no asking if drinks needed refills. Extra meatballs is an absolute rip off. You get three halves of meatballs in a small bowl of brother for 3.59. You can buy a pack of pho meatballs for around that price. 1.5 meatballs for 3.59 is wild. We ordered two number 15's and one number 17 all of which are supposed to include tendon as a meat in the pho. NOT A SINGLE ONE of our bowls had tendon. If they ran out it should have been vocalized. It wasn't. Another rip off. Number 22 was great! Mother said it was a 5/5. The side of soup that she got was okay but it wasn't great. The broth was kind of lacking flavor. Cafe Sudan was a 3/5. Number 15 pho was rated 3/5 by my father. Number 15 was a 3/5 for me, broth was lacking flavor. Number 17 was 5/5 even though it didn't have the tendon per my sister. Number 25 was 2/5 per my partners. Bland. First bowl of sauce came with a hair in it. New bowl was fine (I personally really liked the sauce though!). Bathroom floors were sticky. Honestly the place is just cramped but the food isn't bad. They just could make some changes to make experiences better and food quality better. Note for restaurant: Please tell customers if you don't have something because it feels very dishonest when you just don't provide the thing and hope customers don't notice. Just from that I wouldn't come back.

Pho Tai Puyallup has taken a plunge. First, service is SLOW Refills come when you ask BUT... they expect to be tipped?

I'm super disappointed in this last visit I had with Pho Tai. Pho Tai is basically the fast food of pho restaurants and I shouldn't have expected much, but it was Sunday night with two tables that had already been served. I came in with my boyfriend and after a few minutes, we got seated and then a server brought us drinks and asked to take our order. I got the combination order of a large #17 pho and spring roll with an iced milk coffee with light ice. I was expecting to get my drink but it never came until I went to go pay which was weird? They never asked if I wanted my drink after my food? It seemed really odd and I just figured they forgot. My food came out not too long but the pho was super sad as it had nothing inside. The noodles were short and clumped together. Broth was super salty. My spring roll looked great and tastes great until like three bites in, I noticed a small black hair. The server never came back to check on me and we had to ask the busser to let our server know. The busser told us that he could either have them remake it or take it off my tab, I opted for the latter as I had already lost my appetite. Overall, I won't be returning to this Pho Tai or others as I am moving back to Federal Way and there are plenty of late night restaurants with quality food and service.

Deliciousness! Go ahead and try the pork bbq spring rolls and multiples because you won't want to share. I should apologize for not taking a picture but the brisket and meatballs pho was on point as well. Great service and attention to detail. neat decoration with warm lighting.

This is the seafood pho.

I love this place. I always get the seafood pho. The portion sizes are large and the price is pretty low. The food itself is delicious and I love the variety of seafood they put, clams, mussels, squid, shrimp, and crab. The servers are super friendly. The atmosphere is nice as well, they play popular music and while the building is small it doesn't feel crowded.

I'm back! Had the sweet beef Banh Mi sandwich (B6). It's got a really good flavor and a little kick with fresh jalapeños! Great flavor combo.

The vibe is perfect for that--low pressure, relaxed, and easy to just sit down and focus while you eat. One thing I really like is that you can order right from the kiosk at your table. The staff still brings everything out and makes sure you're taken care of, but there's not a lot of back-and-forth unless you want it. After talking to people all day for work, I honestly appreciate that more than anything. That said, if you prefer a more traditional experience, they're happy to take your order too--I saw them do that for another table with no problem. I usually get the brisket pho, and it's always really good. This time I also tried a fried roll that came with this super pink sauce that I was honestly a little skeptical about at first--but it was so good. I ended up dipping everything in it, even my brisket. Definitely getting that again. Overall, it's just a really solid spot with good food and an easy, comfortable atmosphere. I'll definitely keep coming back.

YESSS!! This is THE place for Vietnamese food! They are indeed authentic!…read more I have been missing the smell and taste of staple Vietnamese dishes ever since I moved out of California a few months ago. I used to receive Mom's vietnamese home cooking frequently and I lived near the Asian hubbubs with easy access to all the cuisine, but now I have to discover new places here in Washington to satiate my taste buds. Everything I've tried so far has been good. I've been content. But here!! I ordered takeout through Doordash, and as soon as I picked up my food, an aroma of so many flavors filled up my car. Parking is kinda annoying since it's on the street but I arrived within 30 mins of opening hours so it wasn't terrible yet. The restaurant already had at least a table or so, with customers, so I wouldn't be surprised if it got busier later. There's a fair amount of space and tables for hungry stomachs! The food was about ready by the time I arrived, and the 30 min drive home left me feeling famished and ready to dig in. Thankfully, I was not disappointed. Everything was packaged well so that nothing spilled during the car ride, and everything was so yummy! I ordered more than I originally intended... I was craving com tam (broken rice) and couldn't find a satisfactory place near my residence, so I drove all the way here to Tacoma.. and then I figured, I might as well order their Banh Xeo too! The photos online made it look so good, and it ended up tasting amazing! Slightly crispy and stuffed just enough with bean sprouts, meat, and other goodies. Perfect after drizzling some of the sauce over it. The Com Tam was also made well, and definitely hit my cravings with its classic ingredients. I ordered a Large Pho Bo Vien (meatball) for my son, and was sooo tempted to eat some myself. The broth smelled fresh and the noodles were cooked nicely. Decent portions for everything, too. I definitely need to return to try out more of their food. So far, it has made me one happy Viet gal :)

We were headed to Tacoma and I came across VK Viet Kitchen on Yelp. Food looked great and reviews were plenty enough. Table is free for all as long as it's available. Once we sat down, the owner came to talk to us pretty quickly. He asked if we've eaten at the restaurant before and how we found out about them. They're a long time standing business around the area, so even on a random Wednesday lunch hour, most of the tables were full. The menu is extensive! There's a lot of menu items that are new to us, but between the three of us, we got the Green Apple Salad with Tofu (S1) and Crab Meat Fried Rolls (A18) to share. My partner got the Bun Rieu Tom Cua (V4) and my brother got the Bun Bo Hue (V3). I opted for Hu Tieu with Soup (P15). The green apple salad was pretty good. It's got a lot of tangy flavor to it because they used green apples and they mixed in a lot of apple slices. It also goes surprisingly well with the tofu and it's nice that they cut up the tofu into bigger matchsticks to match the apple slices. As for the Crab Meat Fried Rolls - these were really nicely fried. Nice, crunchy outer exterior and lots of crab meat in the inside. The pickled veggies was a nice palate cleanser. Finally, for my Hu Tieu, the soup was amazing! It's a nice, light, clear and nourishing broth. It's comforting for the chilly day. They provided a lot of pork liver, kidney, shrimp, squid, and even a quail egg in there. I like the addition of chives as well. Awesome Vietnamese restaurant to take a lunch break at. Employees were friendly and efficient. It was also really nice of the owner to talk to us and just get us comfortable. I've bookmarked this place for the next time we come visit Seattle!

I don't live nearby, but I ended up grabbing a stamp card, so there's a good chance I'll come back eventually for the drinks alone. I ordered a chrysanthemum tea with boba along with a banh mi. The drink was probably the highlight of my visit since it was super refreshing, flavorful, and made pretty quickly too. Definitely quenched my thirst. The ordering process was a little awkward though. There was one guy working the front and I had a hard time hearing/understanding him at first (maybe he was speaking too quietly?), but it became easier once we switched to Vietnamese. He also didn't seem to recognize the drink I wanted even after I gave the menu number, so I had to point it out on the menu before he could ring it up correctly. I'm guessing he might've been new. The banh mi took longer than expected considering the place was empty, probably because from what I could see, there was only one lady in the back making food. Taste-wise, it was decent but nothing especially memorable for me, and the size felt smaller compared to other places I've ordered from. I think the banh mi only came in one size. Usually, I'd order a Large so maybe that's why this one seems small. There were at least a couple tables inside so I could sit and wait. I still had a good experience though and would come back mainly for the drinks because that chrysanthemum tea was genuinely really good. They have tons of options so I wanna try out their other drinks too.

Food: I'm an American born Chinese kid from California and the food here could go head to head with anything in San Diego or LA. The broth is clean and simple Chinese style soup, not too salty and perfectly reduced. They load the bowls with tons of protein and are very flexible with whatever combination of proteins you want. The cha sui is perfect with just the right amount of sweet glaze and a touch of char to keep it interesting. The roast pork has one of the crispiest skins I've had which you can just let soak in the broth to your desired consistency.
