I've never been to Mama's Place, but came to Angola to help my friend. Her dad Loved Mama's, so we went for lunch. Her dad highly recommended the taco salad, but I found several things I wanted to try. The menu is very appealing, promising homemade bread. With that attention to detail, I ordered a patty melt: homemade rye, swiss, brisket - I was stoked. First, the bread wasn't rye, and the swiss was pasteurized imitation. It had one crunchy ring of an onion. I couldnt eat it. I picked the beef off my non-rye bread, ate some cold, homemade chips... Use Real Swiss, saute those onions, make sure the bread is correct, and find a way to keep those chips warm, and Then your food will align with your menu. read more

Breakfast was ok. Nothing special. If you're looking for good breakfast food, go to the Village Kitchen. Trust me.

I can't review the food since we didn't stay long enough to eat, or even see a server. We walked in and sat at a booth in the front of the restaurant, only to be stared at by employees passing by, but nobody greeted us. My husband waited about 5 minutes and then decided to set a 5 minute alarm to see if anyone was coming to take our order. Another 5 minutes had passed and all we got was looks from servers walking by, but no one greeted us. We had arrived 45 minutes before posted closing time. After acknowledging that we were clearly noticed, but being ignored we got up and left. The entire time we were in this restaurant not one person said a word to us. We will not be back EVER and the Pizza King down the road got our business. read more

EXCELLENT food and service!!! My husband had the biscuits and gravy and they were the best I've ever had. The hot cakes are huge and fluffy, and Julie was a fantastic waitress!! We weren't able to try lunch, but they have a tenderloin that looks great and delicious cheesecake. read more

We stopped in here for breakfast after the Angola Balloon Festival Sat. I had to get the biscuits and gravy to see if their sign was true. It's True and the biscuits are HUGE. I wanted a cinnamon rolls and was hoping they had some, but was told it is a specialty item and the waitress suggested we try the cinnamon roll pancakes. OMG very yummy. Our bachelorette weekend extravaganza came to an end with breakfast at Mama's. Julie was our waitress and she was amazing. I had a cheese omelet which was delicious. Other girls in our group ordered the biscuits and gravy. I recommend getting the half portion because they are huge! I'm not really a big fan of biscuits and gravy but these were amazing. Plus any breakfast place where you can walk in on a Sunday morning with a party of 11 and not have to wait for a table is magic. read more

We were in town for work for a few days and decided to give this place a try. I tried the turkey club and cup of stuffed pepper soup. Both were very good. The next day I tried the patty melt with tater tots and Cole slaw. The slaw is excellent and obviously homemade. The patty melt was nothing to complain about at all. Don't let the decor or atmosphere take away from the great food. It was also very affordable. read more

The best breakfast place I have been to in a really long time! I had the farmers omelette and it was incredible! My brother would recommend the skillets with "mama's good gravy." The atmosphere is exactly what you would expect in a dive place like this. The staff is friendly and helpful. Had breakfast thinking thats hard to get wrong, wow was i wrong. Hash browns were horrible, eggs were blan food was cold. toast was ok but jelly packets were old. Coffee wasn't very good either not worth the 20.00 i spent on the meal. Waitress could of cared less but i still gave her a good tip. Wount go again..... read more

Out of towners looking for somewhere to eat, usually these little diners are our jam!! They always have the best food. I didn't get to try the food, or experience the service. Instead we sat there while 4 waitress stared at as us and acted like we were not there. I get it I've been there I worked at a restaurant but we had an hour before you closed! If you always wanted to experience that scene in the movies where the music stops and everyone turns around and looks at you, then ignores you. Come to this place! To the owner: its customer service that ruins business. You have major chains that are down the same stretch you are. Unfortunately your servers fail to see that. read more

I stopped in to Mama's Place a few weeks ago, one auto outside, only one couple inside . I walked in, no waitress or hostess to greet me. Sitting myself down in a booth, I waited several minutes before a waitress appeared. Her greeting , Oh! you sneaked in on me! No Class here. I asked if I could order 1/2 order of beef manhatten. She had to check in the kitchen, she should have known. The order came in a few minutes with mashed potatoes that were really boiled potatoes mashed with a fork& very little meat in the sandwich. When I mentioned the boiled potatoes to the waitress, she answered that the cook in the kitchen had to improvise. A few minutes later , she brought the check, For my 1/2 order of beef manhatten and coffee, I gave her $20.00, she gave me &9.00 in change. Ridiculous charges. read more

I like Mamas because it's not a chain restaurant. It is just your typical breakfast restaurant. They do serve lunch and dinner.

Oh my goodness....several months ago my husband and I happened upon this place while we were shopping in Angola and wanted breakfast....it was awesome. Then yesterday I took my mom for lunch and was even more impressed. We both had the homemade breaded tenderloin sandwich....it was really homemade...it was huge, crispy, and real tenderloin. And it was just as good as a leftover today. I highly recommend this place...it is an old Mom and Pop shop - great menu, great food, great prices, and great service. I am only giving it 4 stars because it could use a little updating - the bathrooms were pretty old and worn out. But a definite step back in time to when things were the real deal! read more

i was there for my 28th birthday, worst mistake ever.....one, they interrupt like every five minutes to see how it was...ok i get you want to make sure we like our food, which food, was great, but we asked what pies they had, they listed us a few , oh, and when i say they, i mean she, thats right no manager, no sign stating whether or not to seat ourselves or, wait to be seated.......and one employee....anyway.... she charged us for pies like she was supposed to on the little paper thing, well when it came time to pay, we get charged a mysterious $8.00 more, turning a $46 total to $54.......turns out the "pies" were actually cheesecakes, that were way more.....let's see, lied to, not able to eat in peace....oHHH and she didnt even ask if we were done, just in the middle of our main meal, she decides then to hand us a check, roughly place MY plate down in the middle of grace......this place has no respect, and misleading signs and/or menu, on the building there is a pink sign inside that says..."everyday free coffee" but the menu reads Cup of coffee....$1.79, with Sunday bring a free coffee day............am i the only one that finds that a bit wrong read more
