I love their dish names totally Dominican relatable names, I get a kick out of them as they make me laugh every time I read them. Their drinks are strong so make sure to have a driver if you are planning on having a couple of drinks. We had dinner on Friday to celebrate our coworker visiting NYC. This was my first time in this location and I had a great experience! The drinks were tasty, the sushi and dumplings were delicious, the music was everything I needed and the hookah was amazing. The service was fast and they have a great turnover rate. I absolutely love the rolls here and the food is just amazing. I took my parents out for dinner here and the energy is great. The only downside is the location because parking is not the best. Service is good and the drinks are great too. They also have hookah that is available so that's a nice touch for people that like that. It is very loud and they do play good music :) read more

Mamasushi gives all the vibes no matter the day you go. This was my first time visiting the Bronx location so I was unsure of what to expect. I popped in on a Thursday night & baby it's the sameeeeeeee vibe as the Harlem location... PARTY-TIME. As soon as we approached we were first greeted outside by who appeared to be a bouncer and manager. Upon walking in we were greeted by the hostess and seated towards the back area. This is also where the DJ was set up! Hookah smoke in the air, music turnt up, drinks flowing, lighting dim.... I almost forgot I came to eat. For dinner I had the hanger steak with mashed potatoes. The food was served luke warm BUT came extremely fast (odd to say the least). I requested the steak to be cooked Medium which it was. The wine reduction sauce the meal was served in was very good. I saw my waitress two times throughout my visit.... When she took our order and when it was time to pay the bill. She did not check on us as we dined. I went there with my sister & we got spare ribs for us to share with oiur drinks and they were very good so next time we were together we decided to get an order to take home , when we opened bag there was about 4 ribs and trhey were burnt so bad we just threw them away we never went back there again. read more

The sushi was actually horrible. I do not recommend at all plus the manager is a huge gas lighter. Every time I tried to correct their mistake with my order he said it was the "standard for all their locations" so I called another location and they said the opposite. I went in for a pick up order - I food i ordered was the $55 sushi tray pa los tigueres. I asked for not that much seafood as I would rather some more Latin sushi options. I was given push back - had to wait a while and essentially I didn't feel I got my moneys worth. I go a lot to the 145st and dyckman locations in Manhattan and I feel there I get my moneys worth when I order this tray. I recently visited this restaurant and was impressed by the unique concept of incorporating Dominican flavors into sushi. The atmosphere and music were great and the restaurant was packed, which is always a good sign. Although my waitress wasn't the friendliest, the rest of the staff were. The menu was well-designed and offered a variety of options. I ordered the "tres golpe" which is a known Dominican dish Although I wasn't pleased with how it was prepared since the sushi itself was a bit cold and this dish is usually eaten hot it was still a great dish. The guavate sushi was the start of the show perfectly made, the sweet plantain in this dish gives it a great flavor. Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant. read more

I've dined in the original Mamasushi's in Dyckman. My only complaint about that location is the sitting. The seats seem so close together. Mamasushi Bronx location is awesome!! The atmosphere, seating, bathroom, restaurant decor and the waitress was delightful. I dined late afternoon. The atmosphere was calm and relaxing. Not crowded at all. I finally made it to this location having been to the other location on Broadway. Can I just say I loved this place. The service was great and the food was delicious. My girlfrends and I started off with appetizers and drinks, we shared crabcakes, vegetable spring rolls and mussels. All three were delicious we couldn't stop eating any of them lol. I had a Honey mojito. It was ok not enough liquor for my taste but it wasn't bad. For my entree I had the Ritchie Rich rolls. They were really good - nice and fresh in fact all of us enjoyed our meal. I know it's hard for restaurants right now but Mamasushi has gotten it right. Exterior Review Only. Who opens a brand new restaurant during a pandemic? Mama Sushi, that's who. Things look pretty orderly, but hard to tell as we were just passing by. From the looks of things, they have a nice setup with a portion of the street, plus sidewalk arranged for outdoor dining. Summer flowers are displayed in planters and patio umbrellas are available to help shade patrons from the direct sunlight. The neighborhood friendlies and others are already onboard and seem to have taken a liking to this new addition. But you know they are the new kid on the block, so we will have to see if they can live up to their name. read more

DO NOT ORDER TO PICK UP!!! The service at this restaurant is awful!!. starting from management that don't know how to handle customers inconvenience!!. Last night I placed an order (sushi tray Pa lo tigre) through their website at 5:52pm to be picked up 7:45pm, which is more than enough time to get my food ready. I showed up 8:11pm and to my surprise my order wasn't ready. The girls at the front desk were very understanding and apologetic about the situation. She tells me I have to wait another 5 min for my order to be ready. I was very frustrated but kept my composure. I asked to speak to the manager to explain to him how this was such an inconvenience for me because after having a long day at work I now had to stand by the door to wait for my food. Imagine!!, placing an order to pick up to avoid any wait time and still having to wait not 5 min but an extra 20 min!!! The manager kept telling me that the restaurant was busy as I could see which is such vague excuse for not having my order ready in time. All he had to do is to acknowledge the fact the messed up and fix it!! He was very condescending while speaking to me which is very unprofessional when he knows they were the ones to make such difficult time for me. I ended up leaving that place 8:37pm!!. Mamasushi is one of my favorite restaurants and they never disappoint me. My go to roll is El Montro. It's a hit every time. I also had a side of chicken chofan but I started to get full off of it quick so I ate some and took the rest to go. The rice has plantain, chicken, and veggies in it so it can really be eaten on its own. I started with the chicken bao bun first and it was delicious. The bun was so soft. My friend had a coconut drink, which I forget the name of, but it came in a cute carved coconut with mamasushi etched on it. I forgot to take a pic of it. This is definitely a spot for any occasion. My only complaint is that the left hand side of the menu is a dark background and given the low lights it's hard to read - eek! Also it'd be great if this were a larger space to accommodate more people but it works nonetheless. So I've only experienced takeout from MamaSushi and it's pretty good. I chose not to add photos to this review because I'm sure there's no comparison to the type of plating you'd see in a dining experience. We ordered three rolls: El Soberano, Mexican and the 237 Dyckman. All of them were delicious. We also ordered a large "adult" beverage called Jack Punch (not sure about the name) but it's good enough for two people unless you got it like that!!! I'll leave out the cost specifics but be prepared to pay premium prices for Sushi which is still 80% seaweed/soy paper and rice, unless there's a wow factor like a Samurai in the kitchen slicing these rolls up. read more
