When I walked in to this store I wasn't quite sure what I was walking into. On the outside it said…read more"Fruitvale Giftshop and More". Also, there was a sign that said "Keys Made", and way up high over the door there were a bunch of hookahs that I could see through the glass window. What is this place? When I went into the store, I was greeted by a friendly man behind the counter. I asked him what he had for sale, and what people really like. He proceeded to show me many of his wares. The truth is that primarily it is a Smoke Shop. So, if you like to smoke or you have a friend that smokes--this is a great shop! There are reasonably priced lighters--I included a picture of 2 lighters that were $20 each--that were very cool looking. There was a lighter that "S" (I couldn't say his name) was excited to show me. It was a large bust of a Medusa--with a large snake on top of her head. That one would really get a lot of heads spinning at a party, and it was only $50. Take a look at my pictures if you want to see some of what all he carries in his store. It was quite educational for me. He even showed me how to fill one of the lighters. As a smoke shop, I would give this store 5 stars. However, because of the confusing sign on the front of the store, and the other items in his store that don't really add to the Smoke Shop--I am giving it 4 stars. I think he would do better to get rid of the clothes and some of the other items, and change the sign on the outside of the shop to read Fruitvale Smoke Shop.

I was always impressed with the selection of cigars in their walk-in humidor, and when I switched to a pipe, their selection of pipes (I bought a couple of pipes, including a very nice meerschaum) as well as tobacco. I recall getting several ounces once, of a dark rope (I'm thinking Samuel Gawith, perhap Gawith and Hoggarth), when the proprietor jokingly suggested I might need a nite from my mom (I was over 50 at the time), due to its strength! I invariably enjoyed my visits, always chatting with the folks running the shop. Unfortunately, I've forgotten the name of the fellow who ran it, who had been a biochemist in an earlier life. He did have a very personable young lady assisting whose name may have been Keely (but I'm bad with names). I moved from the area in 2016, and gave up smoking altogether in 2019, but have nothing but fond memories of the times I visited them.

She asked the right questions and quickly guided me to the perfect cigar. You can tell she's very knowledgeable, and the shop has a great, wide selection to choose from. I'll definitely be back!
