Toast is our Hull hometown favorite breakfast/lunch place. When my mother was alive she loved going to Toast for a hearty lunch & then a nice short walk over to the beach. So many wonderful memories. Now we continue the lunchtime tradition with my sister & sister-in-law every month when possible. I love the Balsamic Chicken & the Smash Burger, such a treat. Crowded, not handicapped friendly, I told waitress I needed a table, she flat out lied and said the larger table had a reservation! I waited outside enough time for the bus to the ferry to know no large parties came in! Then called and asked if they take reservations and was told no!~!!! This makes the entire area look bad!! Toast is a great option for breakfast if you're ever visiting Nantasket Beach. I ordered the hash and eggs which were so delicious! Everything was cooked to perfection. The specialty coffee was pretty good as well - I had the mint mocha and my partner had the salted caramel mocha. Space itself was small with counter seating, a large table for big groups, and a few tables. We got there at 9:30am on a Saturday and it was packed already but waited a few minutes. One of the best options on the South Shore and in the Nantasket area for breakfast. We've visited several times over the years and they are on our go-to list for breakfast and lunch. Consistently every time did not disappoint. Keep forgetting to give them the proper review. So here goes. Cozy quaint and clean located in the beginning of the Nantasket Beach strip. Our server Maria was awesome, friendly, courteous and attentive. Most recent visit for breakfast. Ordered the Irish Benedict, avocado toast and the Belgium waffle. I am still dreaming about my breakfast from here! I love a sweet breakfast so my husband and I decided to give Toast a try based on their menu and it did not miss. Toast is a cozy restaurant located almost steps away from Nantasket Beach. We got there on a Saturday morning around 9am and there was a small 10 minute wait. Once it was our turn, we were seated at the bar. All of their pancakes sounded amazing from the menu and I needed to have them all. The best part? You can with the Pancake Taco Trio. The dish came with a chocolate chip cannoli pancake taco, a s'moreo pancake taco, and a pancake taco stuffed with Nutella. I am not exaggerating when I say this is a MUST order. I loved all of the pancakes, but my absolute favorite was the Nutella one. Please be aware that Toast makes everything fresh and there are signs all around the restaurant explaining this. Because of that, you should have the expectation that your food will not come out immediately. Since we were heavily notified of what to expect, we didn't mind the 25 minute wait for our food. It was well worth it. Our server was great and always made sure to refill our waters. Toast is a small restaurant with a handful of tables and bar seating, so I would suggest coming early if you want to avoid a long waitlist. They do have a free parking lot outside the restaurant, but it is shared with other businesses. If you can't find parking, you can pay for beach parking right across the street. Try the new Le Crookie but make sure to order it first as it takes 15-18 minutes to bake the croissant with cookie dough baked inside and on top with chocolate drizzled. Watch out for unknown fees added to your bill. I recently ate a toast and when I received my bill, there was an additional $3 charge added with the description of "administrative fee". There was no mention on the menu of extra charges. I was paying cash and didn't understand why I was being charged extra. The owners response was that this fee is stated on the bill as well as on the door. I understand that the extra fee was stated on the bill. But that's after the fact. Upon looking at at the doors, there was a very small note posted to the right of the door, below eye level stating the extra charges you should expect. See attached photo. No one walking into a restaurant would notice that tiny note. Regardless, a restaurant shouldn't be charging you extra fees. When I eat at a restaurant, I expect to pay the menu pricing for food, tax and tip. The owner also responded that these fees are common with restaurants. That is absolutely false. I eat at restaurants in and around Hull all the time and this is the only location the charges administrative fees. I once encountered a restaurant in Boston that had an extra fee during Covid. But this was clearly listed on their menu and website. If restaurants want to charge more they should simply raise their menu pricing. Don't surprise customers with an extra fee on their bill. Food was good, but not great. I would suggest Star's at Hingham Harbor or Stevie G's in Cohasset for a better overall breakfast. read more

I love this place. I used to live in Hull, so I could go there frequently. Now it's more of an occasional occurrence. My favorite thing on the menu is Burnt French Toast. You've got to try it to believe how great it is! Crispy on the top, tender inside. The top is best part of crème brûlée, in my opinion, and that's the top of the Burnt French Toast at Toast. The service is attentiveand it's always nice to encounter employees who seem happy. The management must be good. The restaurant is on its second owners, but you can't tell any difference from the original ones. The ambiance is fun. There's a ton of cute, vintage items to entertain your eyes while you wait. I particularly enjoyed all of the magnets, especially the one with a picture of Jesus leaning around a corner saying "I saw that." Sometimes I question people who have the expectation that every meal should be an "experience." However, breakfast at Toast was truly an amazing experience. The server was extremely welcoming and attentive, always keeping our mugs full of delicious coffee, made from freshly ground beans. I have never had to wait for my breakfast to cool down before I could eat it, before! Five minutes later and my home fries were still steaming - that's how quickly the food comes from kitchen to table. My wife's omelette was so fluffy and filled with fresh veggies. Time for another update for this longstanding breakfast/lunch spot on the beach in Hull. Ownership changed hands in the fall of 2019...and as we all know just a few months later Covid hit and everything closed down. Fortunately, the new owners were able to hang on and we have been there now twice this past week for breakfast. My initial review and other updates will spell out the challenges we had with the previous owners although the food was always quite good. I am happy to report that with two breakfasts under our belt, the food still seems good and also important: the vibe is much lighter and happier than in the past. Both mornings we arrived just as the place opened which is 7am. My husband and I are doing daily early morning exercising and long, vigorous walks these days as part of our getting into better shape routine. Arriving a few minutes after 7am last Monday, we were surprised to see as many people already seated. Early birds unite! From the conversations the wait staff was having with some of the patrons, it was clear many were regulars. By 7:30am the place was full on both occasions. Clearly, Toast remains popular....and is a welcome addition to an area with not many breakfast options. The menu is very similar to what it had been under the previous owners with a couple of tweaks. It is standard American breakfast fare of eggs done any which way, various types of toast and bagels, waffles, pancakes and the like. There is also a lunch menu (They are open 7am-2pm daily). The food is simple yet prepared well with reasonable prices. This morning I had the breakfast sandwich which was two eggs, cheese, sausage (you have a choice of meat or no meat) on a toasted English muffin. It comes with home fries or hash browns. Tom had the Western omelette which was so big, he took half of it home and had it for lunch. All the knick-knacks from the previous owners have been taken down making the small dining room seem lighter, cleaner and more spacious. My personal gripe was that the previous owners had dozens of crazy signs hanging everywhere inside and out with instructions about what one could or could not do.....the negativity drove me crazy. Those signs have been removed save for a sign on the door reminding people not to bring in any food or drink from the outside. My own tip to the owners: If you insist on having that sign on the door, please have a nicely written one made up and not the sloppy one you have now. This place is good, it's right on the beach (read: casual) with views of the ocean. The staff is friendly, the food is good and reasonably priced and we are happy to have it on the South Shore. Toast quickly became my home away from home while vacationing in Hull. Open 7 days a week and serving breakfast all day, you cannot miss with Toast. I ate here 3 of 4 days and only missed one due to a holiday closure. The Benedicts are wonderful. I tried the Country style (sausage) and the Breakstone (bacon). Their hollandaise sauce is scratch and the poached eggs were flawless. Their Toasted Almond was also amazing if you want something sweet to start or finish. They also make Shirley Temples! Everything came out spot on! The silver dollar pancakes are the perfect size (usually I find them to be served overwhelmingly large). The corned beef hash has a nice crispy-crunchy-salty bite. The toast was fluffy and ample-buttered. The home fries were some of the best I've ever had. They were well-seasoned with a crispy skin outside and a soft inside. They tasted just like a delicious french fry in home fry form. I feel like most home fries lack that "fry" taste and have more of a "seasoned potato" flavor, but not these.
