We love Mamma Lucia's! Our favorite place for pizza & pasta. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Lots of pizza slice options available. The vegetarian slice was packed full of vegetables. The pizza itself was a bit thick and the crust is thick crust. It doesn't have a good chew, the pizza is not like a New York slice. The crust is crispy and tough. You can dine in or take out. If you order slices, you can sit down in the indoor or outdoor dining. The service was ok for dine in as we just got slices. They heated up the pizzas and brought them out. read more

This is the third Mamma Lucia that we have been at in a month. We haven't been at this location in a while. It was renovated since last time we were here with additional seatings outside. Our waitress was wonderful and put up with our quirky humor. On this occasion, we got ravioli rose with chicken, spinach and feta salad (side portion) and a slice of veggie pizza. We've been coming to Mama Lucia's since they opened and I have to say it was very disappointing. Our waitress was wonderful, very accommodating and acknowledging the lack of attention to the timing of the food. We ordered Caesar salad, wedding soup, and fried ravioli as our appetizers. the Caesar salad came out very wet. The lettuce was wet, and the dressing had no flavor. I sent it back for the wedding soup. Prior to the soup coming, The fried ravioli came out and tasted like seafood in which my fiancé does not eat. We had to send it back. It was an edible. The wedding soup took a while, but will it eventually arrived it was very good; flavorful with a nice broth. I recommend putting Parmesan cheese in it and pepper Our entrées were good for the price point ($30.00 each). They give huge portions. I ordered the seafood MARE with vodka sauce. it was excellent. It had clams, shrimp and calamari. My fiancé ordered the chicken special with balsamic vinaigrette on chicken with asparagus and a large portion of spaghetti on the side. I have to say service was excellent. The place was pretty empty on a Thursday night and items arriving out we're very slow. I'm thinking the Fallsgrove restaurant has a little bit more attention to the details. This place is Awful from the door, smells like 10 day old DIRTY MOP WATER! The food is absolutely TASTELESS even the damn Tomato Sauce. The inside smells like that regularly I assume; because the cloth napkins smell like trash too. If you like this place- you are really nasty and don't appreciate food or the taste of it. Mother's Day evening meal. Was very busy. Maybe that was the problem. Kitchen had multiple problems. Our pizza arrived cold and sent it back and returned again not hot enough. My husband asked for extra marinara and we reminded waiter and never received any. Our two other meals had little flavor in pasta. We have gone to this restaurant other times and had delicious food. Another splendid lunch at Mama Lucia. I had what I normally get, spaghetti with meat sauce. It was hot and tasty and the portion was reasonable. The service is always friendly. It's simply a good, solid choice for lunch without having to break the bank. $16 plus tax and tip make it a good value. read more

This is the pizza and salad I received tonight. My first time ordering from Mama Lucia. Totally inedible. The best thing was the spaghetti bolognese, which was definitely not what spaghetti bolognese is supposed to be but at least it was edible. I think the photos speak for themselves. read more

I have been looking for a good Italian restaurant in Maryland for years. Every one I have tried has been eh. I went here for lunch today. My friend ordered Shrimp Alfredo and his first comment was "Wow, it is salty." He can tolerate salt better then I can. My linguine with white clam sauce was so salty it was inedible. The broth was way too salty but an actual clam was like gulping sea water. The waitress offered to remake it without salt, which is not how one makes a delicious dish. It isn't no salt or too much salt. No Manager approached us and the waitress acted like it was overly generous of them to remove the cost from the bill. I hate 2 strands of pasta and one clam. With so many people having health issues why would a kitchen so badly oversalt the food? It was worse then Red Lobster, which has always been way too salty. So disappointed. read more

Went here for a late lunch & we had such a pleasant waiter. The kids enjoyed their dish so much. The calamari we got as an appetizer was surprisingly good; it was lightly breaded which is nice vs having so much oil with each bite. Their Cesar salad is also pretty good there. As well as the pasta dishes. They were definitely big portions. The area was clean and the music wasn't too loud which I can appreciate. read more

nothing to go crazy over. the food is good, not mind-blowing. the penne vodka is typically a fan-fave but my boyfriend had it yesterday and afterwards was sick with nausea, vomiting, chills, diarrhea, etc. he was the only one in our party to order it and the only one with this reaction. he also said there was hardly any prosciutto in it. the portions are pretty huge, which justifies the price. but if you have leftovers, prepare to see a thick, congealed layer of butter / oil on the bottom of the container the next day. service was fine but could have been better -- often left without water for 15+ minutes interior is bright and clean, there's a private room for parties, and there's a pizza counter where you can watch them make the pies. large parking lot. read more

Wow, shocked to see only a 3.5 star review on Yelp. I give this place a 5 star because the food was fantastic! I ordered the spaghetti squash bowl with spicy marinara and he ordered the homemade lasagna. Both of the dishes were incredible. The lasagna was made with beef and pork meat sauce. There was also bread and oil with herbs and cheese. Absolutely delicious! The service was great and it was options to sit inside and outside. We decided to try the pizza so we each took a slice to go. I got the specialty vegetarian and he got the pepperoni. Looking forward to trying the pizza. We dined at the Shady Grove Road, Rockville, location. The waitress was great. The food was not very good. We both got chewy, hard to cut chicken in the chicken parmesan. Did you know you can customize what sauce and shape of pasta you want if you order from the Mamma Lucia website?? I've been obsessed with eating eggplants everything as of late. So for two nights in a tow, I've ordered eggplant parmigiana. How neat to know their website allows for customization to order mine with penne + rose sauce instead of regular mariana sauce w/ spaghetti. Free of charge too and you can even get them with pesto or lemon wine sauce if you feel like it. I loved every bite of it and had absolutely no complaints. I may have found my new favorite place to order tonight!! The penne was cooked al dente and the sauce tasted heavenly. I usually don't like anything pasta that's not cooked from scratch at home. I cook a lot at home so I'm picky I guess. I was really happy and thrilled to discover that the penne was well seasoned and prepared to my liking. Nothing mushy and overcooked. Sauce wasn't greasy or gritty. It was beautifully silky and had a good tomato flavor. The eggplant was also cooked just right. No floating breading or too much cheese or anything. I used to love ordering my pasta from Mamma Lucia for salmon rose but I have forgotten about it. I loved it with eggplant parmigiana even more. The meal arrived with free Caesar salad and bread. I didn't care for the latter but my husband loved the salad. I'm looking forward to ordering more often especially knowing I live walking distance from it. read more

After shopping until we dropped! Well actually sat down we decided instead of a slice of pizza let's dine in. Great idea. The menu has been updated and inside looks updated too. Very comfortable and server was friendly and hospitable. Food was good and atmosphere was relaxing and comfortable. I'm curious to try the thin pizza next time and also some other items we saw in menu. We noticed a table next to us had ordered pasta and I think a meatball sandwich and the portions looked huge. Came on a Monday night, perfect timing for Pasta Night! We ordered 2 chicken pastas and 2 regular pastas. The deal is get one pasta of any kind at regular price, get a regular pasta for $8. This is a fantastic deal! Service was friendly and prompt, but the entrees took a while even though we came in just after 5pm and there weren't many people there. When the food did come, everything was fantastic and perfect. Chicken florentina, chicken brunello, carbonara and baked ziti. All 4 were delicious and piping hot. More people came around 6pm. The only not great were the salads. Either the dressing or the cheese didn't taste right. We have never liked the salads there but frankly you're not really the for the salad so it's not a deal breaker. Complimentary bread and jimmy sauce is yummy! Been eating this pizza for decades but the last couple orders have not been good still trying to get the pizza we are used to. Their pies now have tons of cheese and barely any sauce to the point that it tastes like rubber, threw it away. The new cooks didn't get taught well or something not the same I think I have to take them out of are go to place. What a shame read more

It was quiet when we got to the restaurant and were greeted by Sarah. She was sweet and provided great service. They serve bread with an olive oil mix with cheese. The bread is warm and has great flavor. I order the special seafood but changed the sauce to a Florentine with corkscrew pasta. My scallops and shrimp were tender and cooked perfectly. The crab meat on top was just perfect. Meatballs were large, moist, and seasoned great. Pasta wasn't dry and a good potion with meat sauce. Ordered a calzone to go and was hot and fresh with 3 meats and sauce on the side. Had a cup of great Lavazza coffee as a finale. Really a great dinner and my food was so yummy. I love Italian food and was craving Mamma Lucia's eggplant parmigiana dinner. For Yelp's Night in, I decided to order curbside pick up. Erica was really pleasant on the phone. She took my order and checked to make sure everything was correct. I was told to drive in front of the restaurant in 20 minutes. I called the restaurant to say I was there and they brought my dinner out and put it in the trunk. Since, I had already paid, I was surprised that the restaurant worker handed me a receipt to sign. I figured that was for the tip and I tipped generously. The portion size was huge. The eggplant parmigiana was terrific and they even honored my request for extra marinara sauce for my pasta. The Caesar salad was lacking in cheese, but the dressing was delicious. The one challenge was the garlic bread. It got soggy on the ride home and did not reheat well. I will definitely order from Mamma Lucia's again. There method of ordering and pick up made it easy and safe. I inhaled my eggplant parmigiana and I am looking forward to another visit. read more

Go there all the time. Always great service and food. I know of no other restaurant where if you walk in at closing time they will serve you with open arms. Nothing is ever a problem for them. They'll customize any dish or make you something not on the menu. They should open a side business training other businesses how to treat their customers. The only issue is no matter what we order, the pizza is so good we have to have that as "one" of our appetizers. Then the trouble is fitting out the door when we leave.
