Haven't had Mamoun's since my local spot closed, so I was stoked to try it again after all this time. And I'm pleased to say it was just how I remembered! The wait time wasn't long at all and there seemed to be plenty of seating (though I'm not sure how it would hold up during peak meal hours). I ordered the vegetarian combo plate and it's such a great bang for your buck (not shown: pita on the side, too!). Fantastic falafels, fresh ingredients, and now an even easier way to order thanks to their self-serve kiosks. Couldn't have asked for a simpler fast-casual dining experience. read more

Perfect! I am so glad I gave this place a try via UberEats! I would've never known about this place without food delivery services such as UberEats, since we are from a different town. Tabbouleh salad has incredible flavors. The house salad portion is smaller than most restaurants, but perfect for one person, and it's complete with a cube of cheese, 1pc grape leaves, and loaded with various ingredients. High praises for the falafel and lamb sandwiches! Lots of lamb were stuffed in my husband's sandwich! Love this place friendly staff. I use to go to the St. Marks Location back in the 90's when i was in college. Mamoun's was the best falafel sandwiches. I was so happy to stumble on this golden find in Jersey. This place is a hidden gem. It's still as good as I remember it!!! I've been craving Halal Food for a while, and while my normal stop is Halal Guys, I saw Mamoun's Falafel while I was driving so I gave it a shot. I ordered two items: the Macdougal ($9.79) and a side order of Falafel (4 per order). The sandwich --- by the look of the photo, looked amazing. Added some garlic sauce and tzatziki, it was chef's kiss. Complaint? The sauce to meat ratio --- I was definitely running out of sauce midway through my sandwich. Gyro + Falafel = amazing! Falafels....I love falafels. But look at the picture: don't mine seem to be a bit darker than...usual? I believe so. The flavor was mid --- it wasn't amazing, and it wasn't horrible. It was "fine". I probably would have just gotten normal hummus and pita bread. Service was great, place was clean and beautiful. Food? It needs some more tweaking for consistency...let me know when that happens, and I'll come back. Until then, I'll stick to my normal stop. read more

Stopped in here for lunch today and was very pleasantly surprised. The restaurant is very clean and almost new, they open just before and closed during the pandemic and reopened after. Service was fantastic, the front staff helped guide me through their menu and selections to pick exactly what I wanted and double checked on all the different sides and sauces. And managed to save me some money! The lamb shawarma is some of the best spiced in the area, and pretty close to the version that I had in New York City at their location near St Marks. It's only a little bit different but pretty close, much closer than their Hoboken location flavor was. The falafel is still some of the best I've had in New York City, crunchy and tasty and not bland or dry. And the hummus was great although I wish I ordered a large instead of medium. I also had a mango juice which was okay, sweet as expected, and a good counterpoint to the very spicy Mahmoun's hot sauce! In a relatively new strip mall, and parking lot is only open on one side. Mamouns always hits the spot when I am looking for healthy satisfying meal. Their bowls are a perfect balance of savory and fresh. Order the chicken kebob plate if you have a big appetite, you can add a ton of sides- my favorite is the feta cheese and tabbouleh! The sandwiches are similar to the bowls but in a pita vessel. The hummus and pita is a great addition to any meal. Surprisingly have great lemonade as well! This is the third Mamouns location I try and its my second favorite thus far. What an absolutely phenomenal chain restaurant. Quality, quantity and value is all there. We ordered online and picked up and everything went smoothly. I started with the lentil soup which was amazingly tasty with just a little kick to it. We got the stuffed grape leaves as well and even my wife, who usually doesn't like them, thought they were very good. I got the Manhatten sandwich which was falafal, baba ghanoush spread, hummus, lettuce, tomatoe, onion. Absolutely out of this world. My wife had the West Village which was basically the same minus the hummus I believe. We also both got a side of rice. We couldn't figure it out but it had some type of spice in it which really brought it over the top For dessert, we each got a piece of walnut baklava. It was so moist with a hint of sweetness. EXTREMELY hard to believe it's a chain restaurant. Everything was perfectly on par. Service was excellent. You're able to eat in as well. The scene is very casual. Mamoun's is the bomb, the flavor bomb. Everything I tasted was fresh, flavorful and perfectly seasoned. I placed an order online for pick up which was super easy. Once I got there my order was waiting for me and the gals behind the counter were really friendly. When I got home and unwrapped my feast, I was literally drooling from the delicious smell. To start, their seasoned fries are perfection. They come with a garlic sauce that's really delicious too. The falafels are crispy and tasty. I actually prefer falafels the second day for some reason and these were great, especially dipped in some tahini and garlic sauce. Yum. The tabouleh salad was light but jam packed with herbs and deliciousness. The pickles and olives are great too. The fresh pita, everything comes together well. Also got a chicken kabob sandwich and a shawarma sandwich. Both delicious and hefty portions. Can't go wrong with either. I would love to try their combo platter next time and try the hummus and baba ganoush. Don't skimp on dessert - for a chain this is some killer baklava. Who doesn't love a cheap, filling lunch of falafel, a deep-fried ball of mashed chickpeas, herbs, and spices? Started in a cramped apartment kitchen in NYC, Mamoun and Maria Chater immigrated from Syria in 1969 and started refining his mother's falafel recipe after working at several restaurants to make ends meet. Since 1971, the original Mamoun's Falafel has been serving Middle Eastern cuisine to patrons in Greenwich Village and is considered the oldest falafel restaurant in NYC. Today they have expanded to several establishments, where I grabbed a bite for lunch as a first-timer. Located off of Route 17 North in East Rutherford, upon entering the restaurant, it was clean and spacious, with large black and white historic pictures of the original restaurant and surrounding area as well as ethnic music playing in the background. At this particular location, you can order from a screen, and it's super cool with pictures or with a staff. The menu consists of vegetable and meat sandwiches and platters, along with a selection of Mediterranean sides and desserts. I decided on the stuffed grape leaves with white rice and spices accompanied by spiced turnips and the falafel sandwich served on a pita with lettuce and tomatoes, opting out of the onion and tahini sauce. The sandwich was neatly wrapped, served warm, and exactly done as specified. They actually mashed down each of the pieces of falafel into the sandwich, so that each bite you're taking with this sandwich. Everything is made from scratch using the freshest natural ingredients, and the food is tasty, flavorful, and delicious. One of my fave cheap eats is Mamoun's on Macdougal. The falafel sandwich was the best in the city IMO. I was excited to see Mamoun expand into NJ but was unsure if they can recreate the secret sauce in the suburbs. I went for the Classic sandwich that simply has falafel and hummus and all the veggies. The sandwich is still messy to eat and the falafel has the same great taste and texture that I remember. The hummus was a bit too saucy and reminded me of a yogurt sauce instead. In some other reviews I've poked fun at the original Mamoun's in Greenwich Village that I used to hit decades ago.  (But I was excited to see their empire expand with a location close to home and even happier to give them a shot recently...  and found myself here again a week later.) The falafel was, no duh, delicious.  (Just for the sake of being a brat on the first visit I would've complained that I wished there was one more deep-fried ball in the pita and that the pita itself had kind of deteriorated on me while mid-munch.  But on my second visit - everything was flawless.)   And that packed pita (with that rich tahini oozing everywhere when you bite in) is deceptive because it doesn't look even a fraction the size of Chipotle's burrito a few stores down but the falafel was really filling.   Those seasoned fries?  Whoa.  Crispy and packed with flavor and I'm not a condiment kind of guy but the gal sold me on the garlic dipping sauce and I gotta say: it made those fries even better. Really solid pricing.  The restaurant itself has a cool look (a lot more personality than their neighbors like Jersey Mike's or SaladWorks) and the staff were incredibly friendly and efficient.   Methinks this'll be a place to hit pretty regularly from now on.  (Especially now that I'm walking around with their Rewards Card in my wallet.) read more

I'm driving to Lowe's and thinking I miss New York Falafel and bang I see this sign with a guy that looks like Einstein; Mamoun's Falafel I walk in and there was a no line, it was FAST and CHEAP. I got the falafel plate for like less than around $8. it comes with lettuce, tomato, onion, tahini white sauce, I think like 6 Falafels, and pita bread on the side. I was outta there in less than a minute back in my car rushing home to stuff my face. Oh is was sooooooo damnnnnnnn goooooood, Falafel was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside unlike some other Falafel that is mostly just chickpeas, Mamoun's has lots of parsley, add onions, garlic, and spices and you got Mamoun's, bust one open and it's more green than brown. I forgot about Lowes, oh well tomorrow is another day and maybe another Falafel. read more

I can't even express how glad I am they're finally open! It's been a long wait, but as expected, I knew it would be worth it. Given the circumstances I had to get picked up but it was a super easy, contactless experience. I ordered on the app for pickup and was able to pick up the food pretty quick. I got the lamb shawarma sandwich and a side of falafel. The portion size here is great and the sauces are packed separately to prevent the pita bread from getting soggy. The staff work pretty quickly. We ordered catering from Mamoun's for an informal baby shower. Amazing! I was so happy to be able to provide a halal option to my closest friends, and the vegetarian platter was a hit. It was such a great way to offer something "different" since where I'm from, most baby showers offer only pasta/chicken/fish dishes. We did three types of sandwiches - falafel, shawarma, and chicken. I think the shawarma was the most popular among my guests. One word of caution: Delivery is through DoorDash and unfortunately DoorDash backed out of delivery on the day of the event. The folks at Mamoun's tried really hard to locate a driver and I appreciated their effort and updates regarding the status of our order. We were lucky to be able to drive over easily and get the food ourselves. If you can do the pick-up yourself, I'd suggest planning on it. Logistical issues are happening everywhere, so remember that while planning your catered events. Luckily - the food was marvelous!! Folks were going for seconds and thirds. Highly recommend. read more
