Jjajangmyun bowl was as wide as a tire - slurp up the noodles and all that sauce cuz the taste is so damn good. Yes, the juices might wind-up on your face cuz you going down-down on it good like that, but who doesn't bask in wet, juicy glory like that, just wipe the collateral-damage off. Jjambong had the haemul (seafood) overflowing like the organ between my loins, but damn - what a bounty of seafood. Squid was also sitting up top like the jjambong bowls back in Korea. Broth was good, noodles were green - brb, throwing my glasses at the wall out of pure joy and disbelief at how damn good it was. Tangsuyuk? oh my word - just the right amount of crisp. Not so damn deep-fried like other places to the point of when you put it in your mouth, it scratches the skin off the roof of your mouth and cheek-walls like a blue-dolphin does (iiykyk). Just the perfect ratio of frying AND pork - I just rabidly shoved the whole piece in to my mouth, so damn good. I visited Man Chun Hong in Atlanta and overall had a positive experience, with a few reservations. The interior was clean and well maintained. Being able to see into the kitchen while the food was being prepared added a sense of trust and transparency, which I appreciated. The service was very good. The staff checked on us regularly and brought what we needed quickly. Everyone was friendly and attentive. As for the food, I usually tend to be fairly generous in my ratings, but on the day I visited, the dishes were noticeably salty. The seafood noodle soup, jajangmyeon, and fried rice were all saltier than expected. I'm not sure if it was just an off day, but this part was a bit disappointing. That said, the overall experience was still decent, and I hope the seasoning is more balanced on my next visit. read more

This is like the OG spot for Korean Chinese food. I really think it's been around the longest too going on nearly 25 years. I e found the food to be of much higher quality than other spots in Duluth and Suwanee. I also like that they have lots of wine and beer options as they try and brand themselves as an "Asian Tavern" on their website. We had a large group meet here for dinner. I am not sure if we got lucky or someone had made reservations but we got the space in the back corner just for us. We got seated as soon as the majority of the table arrived and there was enough space for a stroller too, which is a plus. We shared a variety of their dishes including the Shrimp, Mongolian beef, pan fried dumplings, pork dumplings, seafood noodle soup, black bean soup, salad & pepper fried squid. Flirted with some other places but..end of day...Man Chun is my Man...it has always been my standby for black bean noodles, Jjajangmyeon 짜장면 and Jjamppong 짬뽕. My wife and I went on an excursion to Buford Highway. We ate an amazing lunch here. This is the most flavorful Ja Jang Myun that I've ever had (granted I'm not a connoisseur like some of you may be), and the tempura batter for the sweet & sour pork was excellent. The hot & sour soup also exhibited great depth of flavor, though I have to say that I'm not used to black pepper being so prevalent. Inside, the restaurant is clean and modern, and the facilities are well attended to. Our server made it a point to constantly pass by to see if we needed anything, but in a way that was unobtrusive; to clarify, he passed by quietly if my wife and I were talking, then responded quickly if we tried to get his attention. A really solid place if you're craving both Korean and Chinese food! Plus the portions and huge and the staff is really nice. And they put a lot of effort into packing your stuff for takeaway like only closing certain containers when you arrive so nothing is soggy and making sure everything is stable which I loved. As for the food itself, everything was delicious. The tangsuyuk was crispy and hot and the sweet and sour sauce was so good with it. The broth for the sizzling rice soup also really hit the spot but the rice puffs were ok. We ordered the boiled dumplings & they were good with a nice dipping sauce, The mongolian beef was outstanding & like other reviews have said - not your typical americanized version of a classic. We had 2 other pork dishes....one we thought was going to be 1/2 fried rice 1/2 glass noodles but was all noodles. the pork was like a julienne cut with tender veggies. The other pork dish was also julienne cut with red & green bell peppers with a nice black pepper kick. This dish was served with 4 sweet buns. As a first generation Korean, it is rare for me to be wowed by any Korean or Chinese-Korean restaurants in US, but Man Chun Hong did it for me and continues to wow me each time I visit. Their seafood Jja Jjang Myun takes me back to Korea and the fact they have spinach noodles makes it even better!! On our most recent visit, I was too busy to take pics of the food alone, but luckily, I have a couple of photos from that day and you can see we had a feast. Oh BTW, if you want the regular Chinese dish, pls do not miss out on Mongolian Beef; the quality of the beef is incredible and it literally melts in your mouth. The service was fantastic, the ambience of the resto is so modern and clean and they even have a very affordable yet great tasing wine menu! The service is okay . The food came out within 15 min, but that's on the weekends. We ordered the classic black bean noodle (jajangmyeon), sweet and sour chicken, and spicy seafood noodle (Jjampong). The noodles were chewy and freshly made in the kitchen. The spicy jjampong was on fire . I could literally breathe out fire and my eyes were watery after a few bites. Our search for black bean noodles in Atlanta is over! Man Chun Hong sits in a small, nondescript complex on Buford Highway, but we were somewhat wowed once we got inside. Not only was there soft jazz playing, but the decor was bright and clean, along with a walled-in display of wine bottles at the entryway. It's a far cry from most Chinese-Korean establishments I've been in, where black bean stains from years of historical meals decorate the walls, booths, and menus. The dining room has a glass window that looks into the kitchen, allowing curious minds to see their meals being prepared. Chinese-Korean food can be considered a select cuisine unto itself, originating from ethic Chinese once immigrating to Korea and developing their own hybrid dishes. One of these is the epic jjajangmyun, or black bean noodles. There are a few varieties of jjajangmyun offered at Man Chun Hong (regular, spicy, seafood, and a 'special' type that I didn't even get to ask about), but most of them seemed to contain pork. Thankfully, the server offered a vegetarian version that was chockablock with diced onions, zucchini, and carrot. Though meatless, the taste was outstanding, especially when paired with the fresh noodles. It should also be noted that the noodles are green because of the spinach incorporated into the dough. For diners averse to any verdant fare, I promise you won't taste it. It simply adds a pop of color (and hidden nutrients) into an already incredible dish. Jjampong is another dish that's commonly ordered at Chinese-Korean restaurants. Jjampong is a spicy noodle soup, which comes with a variety of seafood, such as shrimp and mussels. My husband couldn't decide between this and black bean noodles, so he went with the helpful combination bowl, which serves up a smaller portion of both in a specially divided bowl. In the interest of frankness, I feel the need to share that after trying both, he proclaimed the black bean noodles to be "far supreme". The single dud of our meal was the garlic string beans. I love to order these at Chinese restaurants to get a little more green in our meal. In my mind, I imagined snappy green (or long) beans with a savory and possibly spicy sauce. Instead, we got a plate of unfortunately flaccid string beans, mixed with an impossibly generous portion of onions. The taste of ginger muted any other flavors here and we didn't bother packing these to go since these were too overdone to last another reheat. That aside, we enjoyed our meal quite a bit. These were the best jjajangmyun dishes we'd sampled since arriving in Atlanta a few years ago, and the service was excellent. We landed on the sizzling pepper chicken, the firm tofu with bean sprouts and a creation of our own and they were all great. To start off the service is full of hospitality and class, something you would expect at a more expensive restaurant. We tried Spicy Beef Shank & Tendon app with Peppercorn (beef shank and beef tendon with szechuan peppercorn, onions and cilantro - cold dish), Liow Sansy (shredded pork, scallops, and shrimp with enoki mushrooms, bamboo shoots and imitation crab meat mixed with garlic, ginger and oyster sauce), and chicken with vegetables. The app arrived at the same time as main course and was quite oily for my taste. I did ask the waiter about it prior to placing the order and he assured it was not an oily dish. When I heard that this place made their noodles in-house, and it's GREEN (Spinach, I think?), I knew I had to check them out... First of all, the restaurant was surprisingly nice. Very clean, sleek...upscaled. The service was also good...very quick and courteous. As for the foods, I came for my fave combination, of Jjajangmyun and Tangsuyuk! Well, I hate to say it, but it was a disappointment. Theirs just didn't taste authentically Korean. But then this is a Chinese-Korean restaurant, and I guess they did it more Chinese style? Not to say that these items tasted bad, but just not the taste that I qualify as "authentic" Korean-style Jjajangmyun or Tangsuyuk. Not enough soy sauce, not enough sugar or something!! What I had recently in Utah, at Paik's Noodles, now THAT was the all-out authentic taste that I've grown to love...totally different from what I had here. The Green Noodles used for Jjangmyun tasted fresh, but actually looked better than they tasted, I guess. It's a shame really. They were very generous with the portions, and everything looked delicious...but again, just not what I had anticipated. Normally, when I'm THIS disappointed, I go down to at least 3 stars, but I just can't...given their level of service, not to mention their overall ambiance. first of all, the jajang-myun noodle is not the typical yellow noodle. it is made of spinach and it is GREEN color. which makes me feel like throwing up. imagine having black noodle sauce with the GREEN noodle. FOOD: Jjamjjamyun - Half an order of Jjajangmyun (noodles in black bean paste) and half an order of Jjampong (Korean spicy seafood noodle soup). The jjajangmyun was good but definitely not up to the expectation I had. It was definitely savory and a little sweet, but it didn't have that deep rich umami that I'm used to. The Jjampong was not spicy and had a decent amount of seafood and vegetables for the size of the bowl it was in. Sweet & Sour Pork ($18) - A bit disappointed when this one came out. Portion size was a bit lacking for the price. They got the crispiness right, but the smell and taste of the pork meat was really strong to the point where I could notice it even when it was dipped in the sauce. Special course menu A for four easily fed five people. Switched out imperial chicken with imperial shrimp. Found out when paying it was an extra $6 charge... Ordered seafood jambong and they gave us seafood jja jjang mien ... it was okay, a bit watery. Szechuan shredded pork was the best dish. Enjoyed the jellyfish salad.
