Well here's an unenthusiastic update to my last review, so pardon the lackluster vibe. The food was so-so this time around. We ordered pan fried buns and instead received Chinese donuts in the bag :( I didn't realize it until we got home, but I never had an issue with this place so it didn't occur to me that they prepared (or packed?) the wrong thing. If I ever return, I'll know to do better than expect the correct order and check everything before heading out. The crab rangoon was still flavorful but whatever dough they wrapped it with this time was so freaking tough that it cut the top of my mouth. My jaw should not get a workout from eating crab rangoon of all things. Another disappointment in the bag. But the beef entree we ordered was good, yet overshadowed by the other letdowns of the night's visit given that I can't really remember what exactly we ate. I'm going to remove another star for the unhygienic practices I witnessed that I was perhaps blissfully ignorant of my last time visiting. It's hard to look past a server comfortably coughing into their hand and proceeding to handle multiple patrons' plates and orders without as much of a squirt of sanitizer. I will say though they are quite dedicated to the customer. As I was sitting in the parking lot waiting 10-15min for my order to finish, someone clearly forgot their food and the same hacking server ran out to give it to them. Oh wait! Turns out that was actually our food being jostled around as he ran through the parking lot searching for the owner. I was watching the time and planned on returning but maybe I wasn't moving fast enough for this guy lol. He did all that just for the order to be wrong.... Damn bro. I prayed he didn't box the food. I guess we didn't come on a good day? I really don't know what happened but the entire experience was off. Based on the night's events, I don't know if I'll return. No pictures this time... I was too pissed off. Didn't fight the incorrect order either as I was too tired and really only ordered here because Northern China Eatery was closed. At least the food was decent. Overall One of the better dim sum and Cantonese style Chinese food experiences I've had in the Duluth area. A few standout dishes were so good they almost carried the whole meal to a 5. Best dishes (the reasons to come) 1) Salt and pepper squid This one was excellent. Fried well, not greasy heavy, topped with plenty of fried garlic, plus cilantro and fresh cabbage to balance the richness. Super satisfying and well executed. 2) Dried chow fun with beef Also a standout. Great texture and temperature, well seasoned, and the ingredients felt evenly distributed instead of clumped or uneven. This dish was done right. 3) Eggplant in a small pot Served in a small pot that keeps it warm for a long time, which makes a big difference. There's a lot of sauce, but you can reduce how salty it tastes by how you scoop and serve it. Comforting and flavorful. If you ordered just these three, you'd already have a great meal. Other dishes (good, not amazing) Coconut shrimp The shrimp itself was cooked well, and I appreciated the broccoli on the side to balance the heaviness. The issue was the sauce: way too much. It got soggy fast and leaned too sweet and too salty. Next time, I'd ask for the sauce on the side so you can control it. We also tried a vegetable dish and a fish dish. Both were decent, but not particularly memorable. Tea They serve tea if you order it. The chrysanthemum tea was pretty good, and I liked that it was loose leaf. Atmosphere and service [[HIGHLIGHT]]We went around 2:30 to 3:00 pm, so it wasn't crowded. The vibe felt very local and family friendly. Was excited to try the peking duck with buns but were really disappointed in them. They were quite dry - both the duck AND the buns which should be fluffy and moist. Won't be getting that again. They seem to excel in the claypots - the eggplant and xo egg tofu dishes were AMAZING. I plan to come back to try more of them. The walnut shrimp was pretty good but a little too saucy for my liking. After a group activity, we longed for some dinner. I absolutely looove Bo Bo Garden! There was about a 2 month streak where my husband and I would go every weekend. Pretty sure they know us by now lol. The service is great and very fast! I typically order the Singapore Noodles, House Lo mein, or some other type of house rice noodle dish. I've also ordered Chinese broccoli and it was fantastic! Looking for another excuse to celebrate Lunar New Year, my friends and I made dinner reservations here on a Sunday. There still looked to be plenty of other tables available but they also quickly filled up so I think it's always better safe than sorry. Parking was a breeze since they have their private lot with a fair amount of spots. Some of my favorites were of course the lobster, the egg tofu, beef stir fry, and pork chop. Everything came out in a flash and they were very on top of cleaning off our table and refilling our tea kettles. Overall, I had a wonderful experience. Our bellies were full, our cheeks sore from laughing, and we were able to get in and out especially for being such a large group. Three of us just went to eat at Bo Bo garden cuisine. We ordered orange chicken. I loved how they cut the chicken thin. But the food is really good, reminding me of a taste similar to what you can get in Southern China. The prices are also very fair, with decent portion sizes. This is also one of the only places I know in the area that has clay pot rice, so if you ever want to try clay pot rice, this is the place to go! One of my favorite Christmas traditions involves abandoning every notion of Christmas and going out for Chinese food instead. Not as a protest. More as a quiet, personal achievement. Because we're a blended family, we do Christmas morning on Christmas Eve morning. Then we release the children back to their respective homes and traditions, which means that by Christmas Day our house is empty. No wrapping paper. No jingle music. No one asking where the scissors went even though they are, and always have been, in the same drawer. It's glorious. At that point, going to Buford Highway feels appropriate. What better way to celebrate than strip-mall lighting and a menu thick enough to stop a bullet? Most years we go to Gu's, because habit is comforting and their crispy beef has never once betrayed us. But this year we branched out to Bo Bo Garden, which I am fairly certain used to be a Korean restaurant thati went to in the 1990s. Apparently it has been Bo Bo Garden for quite some time now, and I'm just late to the reunion. The food was really good. The service was friendly. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The atmosphere was fine in the way that says, "We are here for the food, not the chairs."[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Along one wall, live seafood stared out at us from lucite tanks, judging silently. I pretty much almost exclusively come here on Christmas or a holiday because it's open. I never had a bad meal here. There are some things I like more than others but I always leave full. We came on Christmas and had reservations so that makes things easier. This place is always packed on Christmas and a little less so on Thanksgiving. My favorite dish in this restaurant is probably the xo tofu. The fried eggplant, steak and peppers, fried chicken, pork were all good. The only thing I didn't love was the lobster. I realized that I actually don't love lobster more than I love butter and the lobster was just a excuse for me to eat butter. I can also be a lazy eater. I think between the 6 of us and 8 dishes, we were pretty full. The total came out to $50 a person but that because the two lobsters ran for $80. Would I come here again? Yes. If you want authentic Cantonese Chinese food, look no further. This spot is absolutely it. My family came here for dinner and ordered a slew of dishes, all which were truly incredible. My dad has been a Chinese chef for over 40+ years and he agreed that this spot has all the flavors spot on, without any dishes being too heavy or Americanized. I will personally say - do not come here expecting incredible service or Americanized dishes like Orange Chicken. My husband didn't like all the bones in his chicken and mushroom rice casserole and my daughter didn't enjoy her beef and egg rice casserole either. Both dishes lacked of seasonings and flavor. First time trying this seafood heavy Chinese restaurant and I will definitely go back again. The only negative thing I can say is that our waiter spoke no English, so he was not able to help us with the menu. I ordered a grouper dish with Chinese veggie and it was delicious and for lunch it was very reasonably priced! Lunch comes with choice of soup or egg rolls. Egg rolls were very so-so. Have the soup instead. My wife enjoyed her Mongolian chicken, which I finished for her. Yummy. Service was prompt. Restrooms were very clean. Price was very reasonable.
