For this visit, I was craving meat. So I decided to try this place which has had a few good reviews on Yelp and had the food I wanted to try. Service is almost self serve with the exception the skewers are brought out as they are cooked. Different items take longer to cook, so they will bring out items in the order in which they need to cook. So you can stagger different types and eventually you'll get the skewer you want. The location is small and has a very pretty mural along the wall. Definitely feels like a mom and pop shop. The door needs to be fixed though. Seems the doors hydronic was broken so each time the door opened it slams after. :/ I ordered Beef and Sauerkraut Dumplings Beef Scalded Aorta Kabob Chicken Heart Pork Intestine Taiwan sausage Rice They split the hearts in half to grill, so they ended up being dry and crispy. Depending on how you like heart, it's not juicy or cooked medium, they are pretty well done. I thought it was beef. The flavor was great and had their mala spice mix which was tolerable. The Scalded Aorta was basically eating cartaledge. I didn't like this as much. They were not flavorful and just powdered with their seasoning. The real wonders here was the Pork Intestine and Beef Kraut Dumplings. I'm really glad I got the dumplings. Some of the better dumplings I've had and much better than what Ive had at some top dumpling places. The Taiwan Sausage was hot, sweet and flavorful. If I were to reorder, I probably would leave the heart and aorta out. Get more Intestine and more dumplings. I'm primarily plant-based now, so I had the Stinky Fried Tofu (for the first time!). Crispy on the outside, custard-like on the inside, creamy and salty sesame sauce, topped with delicious chili, cilantro, and spring onions, with a slight fermented tang. A lot of spicy options for food. Squid was not labeled as spicy but was too spicy for my partner. If you can't handle spice be sure to ask the server to tone it down. Aside from that, everything we ordered was good. We both LOVED the sweet and sour chicken. You order from a QR code which helps with the timing of food. Came here because of the smell that was coming from the building. The place is described as a Korean street food where most things are served kabob style. The food is appeared to be cooked over an open flame this smell is all through out the restaurant and can be smelled outside. Service time was appropriate. This is the best restaurant in Atlanta and honestly, it's a travesty the Michelin guide didn't name drop them. I've done the Little Bear, Lazy Betty, Omakase Table, Georgia Boy, Southern Belle etc. etc. but this place has the best food of all of them, not kidding an inch. The food is astonishingly good and consistent. We've been more times than I can count, and it's ALWAYS incredible. Their chicken skewer is the best chicken I've ever had, and I'm a chicken fiend - I always go for chicken over other meats. I'll have my "usual" of chicken and a half order of stinky tofu then try something new every time and it's always mouth watering and delectable. Whatever the new thing is, it's the best version of it - smoky, salty, bright, pickley, cheesy, sweet. From the pork belly with sauerkraut to corn cheese - all phenomenal. Would highly, highly recommend the shredded potato cold dish as a respite of refreshing-ness between unctuous and salty bites of meat! My partner loves the lamb, special lamb, beef, and Taiwan sausage skewers so having something cold, sharp, and a little tangy works very well to balance it all out. But no worries for the vegetarians in the parties - there's SO many veggie options. You could eat twelve feasts just based on the veggie options, and it's so varied! It's all amazing beer food, and for sober folks or a sober dinner a Jia Duo Bao works just as well - it's a sweet herbal tea that's absolutely fantastic to pair with the salty barbecue. The stinky tofu I also have to shout out - it's one of my fav things on the menu, only beneath the chicken because that chicken is so trandescent. Even if stinky tofu doesn't sound like your thing I'd still 1,000% recommend trying it. It's some of the best fried tofu you'll ever have!! So crispy on the outside, then inside is this creamy, soft tofu that has its own mild flavour. The sauce on top is funky and delicious, with tons of umami and salt and a little bit of sour - imagine how delicious and mildly funky a good mac and cheese with super sharp cheddar is. That's this tofu, but then adding cilantro and chili on top that make it so refreshing despite the savouryness underneath. Such an incredibly balanced dish with all the textures and flavours you could ever want. It's perfect and unique. Try it and you'll thank yourself later! This is all not to mention the place itself. It's adorable. There's a few tables and we always manage to snag one despite it always being busy enough. It feels homey and real, not manufactured and corporate. I always know they're handmaking the food from scratch, and not just because you can see the kitchen. Also, they have the napkins hanging in bags on the ceiling which is a game changer for food like this. It's so brilliant, I keep wondering why other restaurants don't do that when I go elsewhere. The managers/owners/front facing folks are so lovely and nice. They're super friendly and always happy to answer questions. I adore them and I'm always so happy to see them!! We actually had a horrible experience here--but I do feel for the employees. They were severely understaffed; there was literally 1 person running around playing host, cashier, server, etc. and she was trying really hard to stay afloat. People were all just waiting around and it got to the point where everyone was seated waiting, then people were still popping in to get seated and waiting, then people started trying to pay and there was a line for to-go....it was a clusterduck to say the least. We actually gave up on our order and just tried to pay for whatever we got/was ready to-go. Food started out yummy and appetizing, but felt bland, chewy, and not very appetizing later on. I think it might have something to do with the sudden drop in staffing. I'll need to come back at some other time and try again--but I sure hope they've resolved whatever the staffing issue was because they probably lost a lot of customers that day. Depending on what you like they are either really well seasoned or overly seasoned. Those who had the beef agreed the seasoning kind of made it taste like chili. The lamb eaters said it was okay. I also ordered beef dumplings and was surprised that it came out in a tray of about 12. They were tasty. We've had really good experiences at skewer places in the past, so we looked forward to trying this spot. Unfortunately, it didn't live up to our expectations. The service was decent. The staff is pleasant and friendly. The restaurant itself is clean, and cute inside. The issue we had is that everything, with the exception of the Garlic Scallop, had the exact same seasoning. The soup, the skewers, and the chicken skins were all pretty much one note. I also didn't enjoy the chewy and oiliness of the chicken skins. Your mileage may vary - some of our friends love this place too while others haven't been so impressed. So, I'm just adding my opinion to the Yelp review pile, again. I guess the mixed reviews about this place show, based on Crazy Skewers' 3.5-star average rating with 48 reviews (at the time of writing this review). This place serves Chinese skewers (chuan or chuan'r) in the same style as 90 Kabob (https://www.yelp.com/biz/90-kabob-chamblee), Beijing Kabobs (https://www.yelp.com/biz/beijing-kabobs-doraville), King Skewer (https://www.yelp.com/biz/king-skewer-doraville), and Kochi Maru (https://www.yelp.com/biz/kochi-maru-doraville). All of these are on/around Buford Highway, Doraville, and Chamblee. Based on my experiences, Crazy Skewers compares favorably to the competition. Among this group, Crazy Skewers and Kochi Maru are my favorites, followed closely by 90 Kabob. I don't think you can go wrong with any of these. Admittedly, I do have a slight recency bias for Crazy Skewers. During our visit, Crazy Skewers offered well over 30 different kinds of skewers from Beef (5 skewers for $8.99) to Taiwanese Sausage (1 for $5.99). Overall, the skewers were savory, flavorful, and addictive. The different meat textures were appetizing. The manager warned us that the Oysters were huge, so we ordered only one. She wasn't kidding. The Oyster was ginormous. I believe it was baked with butter, garlic, and spices, and topped with a bit of cilantro. Yummy. The manager recommended the Potato Noodle and said it was something the restaurant is known for. We really liked it. It was a filling, spicy noodle soup packed with flavor. Ingredients included tofu, fishcake, baby corn, bok choy, and cilantro, among other things. The noodle texture was delectable. The noodles had the same thickness as udon noodles (relatively thick). Like everything else, the Grilled Eggplant and Chives were just full of flavor. If you like eggplant, I highly suggest ordering Crazy Skewers' version. They split a whole eggplant in half and then season and cook/char it. It's mouthwatering. The Chives were quite chewy, but strangely still quite good. Maybe they should cut the Chives into smaller pieces or serve it with scissors or a knife. The ladies who served us - the aforementioned manager and a lone server - were both great. They were nice. It was busy when we visited on a Wednesday between 6:30 to 7:30pm. Despite how busy it was, our entire order came out fast. This is a small, but not tiny, restaurant. I estimate they have seating for about 30 customers, all movable tables. The atmosphere is casual. Conveniently located right next to my favorite bubble tea place, I've always wanted to come here to eat whenever I pass by. Today was finally the day! We got the 30 boiled skewers set, 10 beef kabobs, bacon and enoki mushroom kabob, and roasted eggplant. I really enjoyed the beef kabobs. We had the grilled eggplant, chicken kabobs, grilled king oyster mushroom, and lamb kabobs. The chicken was kind of lightly teriyaki flavored with a sweet herb on the surface. It was ok, but I'd have preferred a meatier piece of chicken and more pronounced flavor in the sauce. The eggplant was the same way. I know the flavor, but can't place it very well because was such a lightly sweet sauce- duck sauce? Not sure. The king oyster mushrooms were spicy and juicy. Pretty good! Then there's the lamb kabobs. These were fantastic! They were just the right size for being charcoal grilled. The flavors worked perfectly together. They looked like they had too many seasonings on the outside, but the seasonings turned out to be an amazing match- sesame seeds that gave a wonderful crunch and fennel seeds that offered a nice sweetness and crunch as well. The only real problem we had was with needing a knife for the eggplant. The agh plant was impossible to remove from the skin because they didn't cut it away from the root section and too much came out when we used our fork/chopsticks to grab some. They didn't have a plastic fork, so the kind lady at the counter let us use the knife you see in the picture. She also comped us the bottles of water we ordered. So that was sweet. I'll definitely be back to try some more kabobs, but I'll bring a knife next time- never know! read more

A nice spot for skewers. Our server was very prompt and helpful. Aesthetics are fun and vibrant. The skewers were fine - no real complaints, just wasn't wowed by them. The duck blood pork intestines pot was good, but lacked a certain spice I expected. Squid and shrimp skewers were great in my opinion. Lots of options on the menu, but some were unavailable. I think there is a lot of potential here for a 5-star spot with a little added spice and nuance to the dishes! I would return! read more

We went on a Friday night and it was packed. If you don't mind a small table (for 2), there is a small room in the back with two small tables, which is a bit more secluded and quiet. Food overall was decent but I would say overall the skewers really add up price wise. Def worth trying though. We had the spicy fried tofu with pork floss, Chinese style kimchi (really liked this), special beef skewers (nothing too special tbh), pork belly skewers (good- thin and crispy), shrimp skewers, king oyster mushroom skewers, and bacon wrapped enoki mushroom skewers (pretty good!). read more

I always see Crazy Skewers when I get my groceries so I decided to drop by to try it out for takeout. After asking for some recommendations, I ended up getting the beef and lamb skewers (5 each, $7) and stinky tofu. The skewers were super delicious - pretty tender with a bit of spice. Reminded me of the skewers I would get from China. Each stick doesn't have a lot of meat, though, so you definitely need to order multiple things. The stinky tofu was okay - the peppers and onions added to it were great but were kind of separated from the tofu so I had to just scoop some on top of each piece as I ate them. Overall - yummy skewers but a little pricy. The skewers taste really good but expect to spend a bit of money if you want to get full. Really nice as an appetizer though. Just wow. easily the best skewers I've had in Atlanta. Everything was hot, tender and you could actually taste the Smoke from the charcoal! Cold import beer that you pull right out the fridge yourself, a vast -delicious- menu and a charm that you can only get from these small "ma and pop shop". It's a hole in the wall so if you don't hit the corner you just might miss it. I got the skewered chives, bacon wrapped enoki, and spicy seared buns. Also an ice cold Cass beer. It also helps that the server was friendly and even pointed out some recommendations. I could EASILY see myself coming here with a few friends and dropping a hundred bucks on cold beer and a mountain of food. Next time you want to get chicken wings and beer, scratch that and get skewers and beer! -Service: 10/10 -Food: 1000/10 yes, it's that good. -Ambiance: Chill and nothing fancy. Purely food based review: "Premium" Beef Skewers (5pc) - Tastes really authentic, wish it was a bit more thicker meat. However I don't think it's worth the price ($10.99) over the normal $8 ones. "Premium" Lamb Skewers (5pc) - Really good! Would definitely come back for this. Perhaps getting the normal one would be better value. Chicken gizzards - Not a lot for about $6.
