The food is fantastic - I've tried several dishes off the menu and have yet to be disappointed. My favorite is the grilled octopus appetizer, which is perfectly cooked. The pork chops are also absolutely amazing, full of rich Greek flavors and very generously portioned. The service at Mána is excellent, with an attentive and knowledgeable staff. The drinks and cocktail menu are great, too. The overall vibe of the restaurant, both inside and on the outdoor patio, is incredibly inviting and enjoyable. If you're craving authentic, high-quality Greek cuisine, you have to check out Mána. It's an outstanding dining experience that I can't recommend highly enough! read more

Went for a b-day dinner. It was hard to find any faults. Service was quick, friendly and attentive. Cocktails (Negroni) were refreshing. Apps were delicious (the trio spread with the most delicious pita bread) and the entrees (shrimp pasta and wagyu gyro) were spot on. Great food with a management problem. We had excellent starters, drinks, and main courses for my birthday dinner. Then the server offered a complimentary dessert for birthday, but that unfortunately they didn't have any that didn't contain my allergies. He suggested a drink instead, and I agreed, and then he said he would "confirm with his manager" first. Five minutes later he came back to tell me that his manager said NO. Such an awkward ending to an otherwise great dinner. The four of us spent $400, you'd think I'd be worth the extra $4 difference between the cost of dessert and a cocktail. Ambiance was 10/10 Service was normal. Although the water bottles they used and refill service was messy. I had more water on the table than in my glass. We had a table of 9 so we ordered pretty much everything on the menu. EVERYTHING was bland. Well, the wagyu meatballs were super flavorful but they were overcooked. Everything else was lacking in any seasoning. The drinks were better than the food.....but wouldn't go out of my way to get drinks there. They started us off with some olives and bread which were both good to indulge in throughout the meal. The wine we got was Florina, Greece and felt like it would go well with what we ordered. For starters, we got the village greek salad, and I loved the delicate flavors mixed with the bold and briny feta. The zucchini chips were crispy, however my favorite appetizer was the octopus. It was lemony, juicy, and had a earthy fava spread. Continuing on, we did the wagyu wood-grilled yeeroo's. It was fun to assembly one yourself, and the wagyu meat was tender. You can't go wrong with their salty and perfectly pan fried saganaki. The pastitsio layers of wagyu beef, kefalotyri (kefalotiri) cheese, a smooth béchamel sauce. The lamb chops were succulent and my favorite entree. The white wine came in handy for the wood grilled whole main lobster pasta. The pasta was in a creamy garlic and ouzo sauce with cherry tomatoes. The lobster kept up with the theme of being light and accompanying the dish well. for dessert, we had the kataifi galaktoboureko that was creamy and had a shredded phyllo pastry on top. The pistachio gelato was unreal, rich and creamy with a sprinkle of black volcanic salt and drizzle of extra virgin oil. I was really excited to see that a new restaurant was moving into Monk's space, and the overall aesthetic during construction seemed promising. I've gone with friends twice now, and unfortunately don't know that I'd return. Each time the noise level was out of control - between the really loud music and everyone else's table yelling to their friends, the only way to communicate is to yell. This also makes it hard to hear the servers and waitstaff. I understand the vibe that they are going for, but I think it can still be achieved at a lower decibel. The food was better the first time I was there. Nothing to write home about, but a different offering than what currently exists in La Grange. We tried the spreads, octopus and something else I can't remember. The first two were good. The second time I went we tried the meatballs, which came out looking like three dried hamburger patties. There was a side of tzatziki sauce, which was very much needed. But the food didn't resemble a meatball and was very bland. Cocktails have so far been the best part of both dining experiences, so my recommendation to anyone that's asked is go for a drink at the bar, then have dinner somewhere else. I really want them to improve both the food and noise level, because I think the space has potential and it is really pretty inside and out! read more

We just moved to La Grange from Chicago, so my husband and I get the vibe they were going for, but wow. This was over the top. Couldn't hear one another at the table to have a conversation. The venue is beautiful and welcoming! I was so excited when we entered and was looking forward to a delicious meal! We were seated at a small table near the entry way -----no problem. The hostess and manager were very welcoming. Noise level is very high. We really had to talk more loudly to have a normal conversation. The trio of spreads was very good ----- good amount to be shared by four people. We both had chicken dishes. We were so disappointed that each dish had the driest chicken ever! The kebabs were not seasoned well ---the chicken was not at all juicy. I was so disappointed. I took my leftovers home but they held no appeal for me. The wine that I wanted for dinner was not available. The waitress suggested another; it was good. The outdoor seating area might be good for a drink and appetizer; it looks very inviting. Such a great place for dates or girlfriends get together. My friends and I shared a few of their appetizers - meatballs, beets, crispy potatoes (omg so good), and the spreads - everything was delicious. We had a few pregnant girlies with us and every mocktail and cocktail were amazing. Last we ordered dessert (this incredible lemon cookie with ice cream on top) and the waiter said it was on the house for the birthday we were celebrating! Also was out on a Friday night, and yes, they had a DJ playing cool Jazzy music and a guy with a saxophone (not a trombone) walking around once every half an hour, really added to the atmosphere, not too loud but definitely loud, but then again the entire street was loud because of a summer fest up the street (live band). Make reservations because it was crowded, walk ups had to come back in 90 minutes. Also two sets of out door dining, one on LaGrange Rd, one on the side road, we would have considered them except the noise from the fest. Menus are not available online yet so we went in blind. They said entrees are large portions designed to share, they are or the are not. We had a group of 4 and split 3 appetizers, meatballs (which are actually larger, more like fat burgers), the spreads (tzatziki avocado, hummus and spicy feta) and saganaki. The meatballs and spreads came for three people it looks like (three meatballs, three pitas) and since we were four we had to cut up to share. I always thought apps should be offered with a sliding scale, so if there are four people you upcharge 30% and make it for four (hint, hint). All were excellent and I recommend, of note they don't bring the saganaki lit and it is larger than most we get. Two apps for four people would have been plenty. Entrees we tried the prawns (two giant prawns, heads and everything which were delicious but were a chore to take apart, plus the eyes stare back at you ;) ) the chicken skewers and the seafood pasta (I can't remember the exact names). All the entrees were good, plan to go back to try the salmon and one of the two lamb dishes. They also had a lot of chilled seafood appetizers and salads that looked good, and some sides that sounded good but we had figured we had too much food already (we were right). We did not try the wines this time, went for the cocktails. I don't recall them all (post a menu online!) but the blackberry gin drink was phenomenal (top of the list). At the end we managed two desserts, if you are full then 4 people can split a dessert, we split two by couples, one got the rice pudding (which they felt was more like tapioca, but I don't know enough to comment) and came with a brulee type caramelized sugar crust, and then we got the mango and chocolate mousse, which was good but we felt would be phenomenal with raspberries instead. Overall i give them 4 stars, not because they are not good enough for 5 stars but I want to visit them at least twice before giving them that last star. New location, lots of staff hustling, not perfect yet but definitely worth going for. Looking at about $70-90 per person with the whole apps/drinks/entree/dessert route. I could also see us coming in and getting all apps and sides and doing this tapas style. Also of note they have a 3% service charge, as that is a growing trend I note that for people that adjust tipping accordingly (tip creep is real). read more

Loud. Way too loud. This isn't Randolph Street, it's La Grange. People like to talk to each other. I shouldn't have to yell or point to order. Flies. There are things you can do about this. Please do them. The space is beautiful. Servers are friendly, and very attentive. Wine list is tops, and my companion said his cocktail was excellent. Spreads plate was wonderful. So was the saganaki. Entrees were OK. I'd come back again with friends for drinks and apps outside (where it's QUIETER-on LG Rd!). I really hope this doesn't slide into the same bro-ish vibe that Wild Monk had. That would be a shame. Greek cuisine is so wonderful, that should be the focus. read more

The greek band is so loud that conversation is EXTREMELY difficult. We went with some friends who we hadn't seen in some time. It was a very poor choice of restaurant to catch up with old friends and enjoy a nice dinner. A small item I noticed the morning after going there for dinner is that on the bill, they sneak in a 3% service charge. What is that all about? We reserved a table for 8:00pm for our 10 year anniversary. We got there early at 7:50 to be seated. Another group came in after us and was seated before us. We waited until 8:40pm. As we watched food not get served and people wait in a very beautiful renovated place we decided to leave. When we left at 8:40 the server came out to tell us our table was ready. My question is who left to open up our table? I didn't want to make a scene so I kindly said we are going somewhere else thank you. It's difficult and I know they are working hard but something is not alright and I could tell something was wrong. Large volume of people going in and small volume of food output coming out. It's a pretty place and maybe the food is good, it looked good. Game plan needs to change, prepare to wait if you planning to go. read more

This restaurant doesn't know whether it wants to be a restaurant or a nightclub. Ridiculously loud DJ music with a musician on a horn in a small space. No possible way to have a conversation with you dinner companions. Staff acknowledged the music was too loud but shrugged their shoulders. Food was under seasoned with a lack of flavor. Staff and kitchen unable to clearly communicate ingredients when a guest has a food allergy. Will give them credit the decor of the space is inviting and if properly run as a restaurant could have a chance. Fix the food and the sound level please. read more

Whenever I see pastitsio in a Greek restaurant, I'll order it. The best I've ever had was in a long-gone lamented cafe on West Lawrence Avenue in Chicago. That is, until it arrived at before me at Mana. Crisp, wonderfully spiced and textured, and served in circular form that is an inspired departure from the usual quadrilateral. Our party of 5 was interested to see what the owners of Prasino and the former Monk's (nee Wild Monk) had done with the place. What we found, as others have noted, was a nicely redesigned space reminiscent of a Mediterranean Hamptons Social. A very Insta-ready space. But man, was it packed. And LOUD. They had so many tables crammed into the place (many more than shown in the photos) that the center of the dining room had taken on the appearance of a giant communal table, running the full length of the floor. Servers struggled to communicate with their diners over the Greek music while bussers and expeditors shimmied past them with wobbling platters of food. We were told by a smiling hostess it would be a 25 minute wait for our 8:00 reservation. Since the bar was stacked 3 rows deep we decided to take a walk down the street and grab a drink. The only other option was to stand outside on the sidewalk. Five minutes later as we had just sat down at Milk Money they texted that our table was ready. We hustled back to Mana, were shown our table and greeted by an unhappy server a few minutes later. I can understand why working in a chaotic, over-crowded restaurant would be unpleasant but she really wore her feelings on her sleeve. Never cracked a smile or even told us her name. My wife asked for a glass of wine, explaining she liked 'light reds' and wanting a recommendation. Our server mumbled something like "OK, let me see" and glanced over at the bar. Hmm. OK. My daughter asked for a Shirley Temple and was told "we don't make those". Huh? Your full bar doesn't have Sprite and Grenadine? She offered no alternatives or suggestions, just perfunctory responses like a jaded server at an all-night diner. Similar lack of help with my wife's preference for gluten-free meals. After fumbling with a folded cheat sheet that she apparently couldn't decipher, she told my wife to just tell her what she wanted and she'd tell her if it was GF. OK. How about this one? No, not GF. OK, maybe that one? Still No. This one? No. After 4-5 rounds of this my wife suggested she ask the kitchen, which she obliged. She came back with two options, and choosing one my wife wondered why she didn't just give us the 2 choices to start with. All of this would have been forgivable with even the slightest bit of friendliness or even initiative taken to do better. But the entire vibe was that she gave zero F---s. Food was OK. Lamb Fricasee was half tender, half dry. The sauce lacked seasoning and was too sour. Wife's whole Dorado looked well cooked but had a mealy texture. Girls had the Moussaka and Pastitsio, which they enjoyed. Both examples of Greek comfort food, like a vegetarian shepherds pie and Lasagna. Not a lot of culinary skill required to make it tasty, but they did a nice job with these. The atmosphere was overwhelmingly loud and chaotic. They had a belly dancer wandering the floor, performing for guests who alternately seemed uncomfortable or super into the live entertainment. The dancer was very professional and friendly, but unfortunately her performance and the really loud accompaniment just added to the feeling of chaos. Mana is only a short walk from our home, but we won't be back anytime soon. They need to re-train the front of house and stop trying to squeeze every penny possible out of their new business by filling every open space with more tables. It kills the ambiance and ruins the experience for their guests. read more

On a mid-afternoon Sunday, our party of 3 arrived directly from the movies next door and asked to be seated outside in the couch area on Cossitt, which is beautiful and very comfortable. Inside is pretty chic. We were all looking forward to trying Mana for the 1st time. Cocktails were great. Our 4 appetizers were pricey and lacked flavor/sauce/seasoning, at that point we decided to not order more food. Staff was very nice. Notice the 3% service charge, which states we can ask it to be removed, so the restaurant is asking us to make an awkward request, so guest and server part on awkward terms, IMO. No thanks. We adjusted the tip. It seems bad form to state "for increasing costs" when you just opened. I'd go back if friends suggested meeting up there, but I will not initiate it. read more

The restaurant is beautiful; a huge improvement on monks. None of the staff seemed well trained... they all looked in over their head and as a result came off as cold and unfriendly. We only tried two cocktails... they were beautiful, but very much on the sweet side and lacking in balance. The shrimp cocktail was overpriced for what it was and the sauce lacked any sort of spice or flavor. Serve without anything like to eat with it... it also lacked flavor and was just kind of meh. read more

An amazing addition to downtown la grange! Went here with my family of 5 and we had the most wonderful time. My family eats a lot of Mediterranean and Greek food so we were very happy with this menu. The Saganaki was the best I've ever had, and the octopus was simply amazing our waitress violet was absolutely wonderful and the atmosphere and ambience is spectacular. Even though the restaurant is still in the early opening stages, this was such an impressive experience! Wait staff, bar tenders, food, all great. Felt like a city quality restaurant right in our local La Grange Neighborhood! We got the dip trio, calamari, moussaka, and gyro. Classic greek with great portion sizes. finally decided to try mana in Lagrange . upon walking in we noticed how beautiful the place was and inviting it seemed but that's probably the only thing special about the place . the manager (man) who was by the door when we walked in did not even greet us or smile he seemed annoyed and angry. when we sat down we were greeted by our server who was very knowledgeable and gave us great service. the food was ok i would give it a 3/10 nothing special for the prices. we sat near the bathrooms so although it was loud from the music we overheard some very loud screaming from the kitchen . As i walked to the bathroom I could see a man in a black who I presumed was the chef screaming and swearing at everyone in the kitchen . it was such a classless act on his part because im sure i wasnt the only one who was able to hear that . The manager was very mean to his employees and the atmosphere just felt very toxic and tense this rally ruined my night. so we wrapped our food up, paid and left . will never be returning . read more
