Had a wonderful brunch at Prasino in La Grange with my family! The restaurant is clean, chic, and welcoming from the moment you walk in. Our waiter, Matt, was friendly, professional, and quick. I had scrambled eggs with hash browns and upgraded my crepe to the Bananas Foster, which was amazing and definitely worth it! I also tried the Blondee juice, it was a little bitter for my taste, but still went well with the meal. I found street parking right in front, and there are also free parking garages nearby. We had dinner at Prasino a few weekends ago and would highly recommend it to others. Located in the middle of downtown Lagrange and has a wonderful / large outdoor patio (if the weather cooperates). Inside the restaurant was lovely to sit in. Tables were not that close to each other so you felt you weren't on top of the next couple. Also loved the ambience / feel of the inside. For drinks - we loved our wine (Aviary Birds of Prey) and had several glasses. We started with the Mussels and devoured them. Large mussels - and good sized portion to share. For entrees - we got the Kale / Spinach salad and the Mediterranean. Both very good - but I loved the med salad the best. Menu-wise, they have a large selection of salads - which is what interested us the most in the restaurant. Several other entrees / sandwiches we will try a different day. Was in the area so my friends decided to stop in to get some food. It was pretty quiet and empty in there so we got seated extremely fast. The staff was nice and pretty attentive. My friends got I think it was a pizza and then a beef or something taco. Since I'm Vegan, it was nice to see that they had a vegan item on the menu though I didn't like the black bean burger from what I tasted but the potatoes that came with it were extremely good and fulfilling so I wasn't complaining. I did send the black bean burrito back, cause it wasn't up to my standard of what I thought it would taste like. So if I go back, I'll probably try The. Fried rice that they have that can be vegan. But my friends really enjoyed their food. They said it was really good very tasteful. If I lived in the area, probably a place I would come and work during like a lunch hour if I had spare time if it was as quiet and empty as it was when we went in. I've been to this place several times, so I'm surprised I haven't done a review yet. Service: IMPECCABLE! The staff is welcoming, engaging, and attentive. Any time I have questions about the menu, they're able to answer them with ease. They also have great recommendations. Shout out to Mariam - she was GREAT today! Ambiance: It's never too loud, and it's not difficult getting a reservation. There's always a nice crowd, but wait time is very short. Food: In the past, I've had the Fig & Prosciutto Omellete, and I've heard it's a fan favorite. It's the perfect combination of sweet and savory. Today, I finally decided to try something new and had the Smoked Salmon Avocado Toast. I was NOT disappointed. There was a spicy red pepper sauce on the toast that gave it the right amount of kick. The smoked salmon was super fresh. The chef's kiss was the side salad. Adding it to the toast was the perfect bite. Stopped for lunch with friends we'd not seen for a long time. Our order included the Chicken Club, Veg-Out Omelette, Irish Skillet and Mediterranean Salad along with Two flavored teas. I ordered the Irish Skillet which was a corned beef 'hash' sort of concoction and it was VERY good. Not your typical cubed items but big chunks of lean CB. Been here a couple times, for breakfast, and thoroughly enjoyed both times. This is the heart of Lagrange so parking can be difficult, just a heads up. Make sure to enter on the corner entrance as well. Sat indoors once, very spacious and very nice decor on the inside. Both times didn't have a wait, although it's usually pretty busy. Sitting outdoor in the summer is also very nice! The service is pleasant and pretty quick. I forgot the actual name of the coffee but it's a turmeric coffee, it's very interesting and quite refreshing - definitely worth trying and also very aesthetic drink. Prasino is truly a gem among the dining establishments in the Western suburbs. The food is always good - eclectic and innovative, and the service has been good the five times I've been. The chicken Amish crepes are a standout. Probably extremely unhealthy but worth every calorie. I haven't been here for lunch or dinner, but have been so pleased with the breakfast that it's my go-to place despite living in Westmont, where there are probably 20 breakfast options on the drive between where we live and Prasino. read more

Came to Prasino to celebrate two of my friends' birthdays. It's in a great location and the aesthetics are very simple and tasteful. We had a reservation and arrived an about ten minutes early, but were greeted and seated promptly. The server and staff were all very friendly from the get go. The four of us had a lot of catching up to do, some we handsy hung out since mid or late March. Thankfully, the server as patient and gave us lots of time to do so and to look over the menu. All of our cocktails were great! We had one meat eater, one pescatarian (me), a vegetarian, and a a vegan and we all had plenty of options to choose from. Everyone's food was delicious. The only thing that was lacking was that our sever didn't really check up on us much. Again, she was very professional and friendly, but we had to wait a while for things that we needed here and there, like refills on water or an extra napkin, and we did have to wait a while for the check to ask for the check. My sister and I were in the mood for mocktails and my sister recommended this spot because she loves it! We had just eaten, but she said the food is amazing and it looked great too. I love how it looks in here, the ceilings are so high. I got a mocktail called the honeymoon, which had orange, honey, and apple, my sister got a mocktail with grapefruit and I think ginger beer. We used to love Prasino -- both for dining in and take out. Their food was tasty and service great. However our last few experiences there have been subpar. Tonight we ordered takeout and they had a string of misses. The feta spread was literally rotten -- the dairy had gone sour. They also forgot to pack the curry in their Thai curry dish, so it was just undressed rice. I had called about the curry when we noticed and they say they'd look into comp'ing some part of the dish, so we'll see. We found out about the spoiled feta after I had called. At this price point it was disappointing. The previous time we dined in, the service was great but food lacked seasoning and tasted like it was a frozen meal. I just feel a little sorry for this business now. I've been here several times because a friend really seems to like it but I cannot really figure out why. Not too many else seem to as we are always seated immediately because the place is always pretty wide open, inside and out, every time I've been here, around 6pm at different times of the year. The light, bright, contemporary, scandinavianesque-meets mediteraneanish-sort-of decor, supporting the "prasino" concept, is appealing with large panes of glass next to the sidewalk letting in a lot of light but still leaving me feeling somewhat neutral, like the interior color palette, and kind of like a very nice, up-scale cafeteria. It's a setting that reminds me more of breakfast, brunch, or late lunch places. The menu is solidly in the modern cuisine camp, reimagining favorites with international influences but also a variety of options both meat and non-meat based. The dishes are very nicely prepared skillfully fusing ingredients and ways to prepare and present them but still often striking me as just a teeny tiny bit pretentious (which has become the norm in downtown La Grange). Nevertheless, anything I have had has been at least decent but not necessarily delivering on the implied promise of being wowed--especially for what you pay. As a bench mark, you won't find a glass of pretty ordinary wine for less than 10 bucks--and not a large pour. The service is competent though there does seem to be an abundance of busboys constantly removing things from your table which is annoying. But here's why I've started to feel sorry. This place tries really hard. They clearly have given thought and taken pride in the business from concept to delivery, but yet, everyone seems to go to the Americanized, a lot more pretentious, crazy-priced, Greek-based place across the street clearly a favorite of a Polo-and-deck-shoe crowd--with the cash to spare. The places are essentially in the same location on east and west sides of the street both with access to ample parking--but--the other place has this distinct, dimmed light, intimate table (closely spaced by the way) vibe that is just, well, more romantic than Prasino--could that simply be it?! Regardless, the real point being, Prasino is not somewhere I would choose to return to on my own and it seems others make the similar choice. Hey Prasino, seriously though, if you can't beatem' on the dinner field, what about beating them on a different field by really focusing on being the go to breakfast, brunch, late lunch place?!--at some unpretentious prices. I'm really never disappointed with the meals I've eaten at Prasino albeit, admittedly, I've only experience breakfast fare. Upon their first opening I thought it a little expensive, but the world has caught up with them, it seems, and prices haven't increased exponentially. The wait staff and hosts are excellent. Very welcoming. I would highly recommend a step up in a gratuity. They're on top of it and deserve the bump. The ambience is simple upon entry but the settings are first class. Tables are set for formal flatware, and cloth napkins. It's rare to find this at a breakfast setting. Good for appearances. It's a large place and one must be ready for a 'runway stroll' to one's seat. It's hard to avoid eye contact and it's difficult to not feel like you're being judged. I do feel I should shower and dress a little more upscale as opposed to the flip flops and pajama bottoms. Although, it's merely an illusion and likely only in my mind's eye. As soon as we arrived, we were taken to our table immediately. They offered both breakfast and lunch at the time we went. It took us a while to order something because there's so many delicious sounding options. Drink: Strawberry mimosa. Very refreshing. Appetizer that we split: Fig and Prosciutto flat bread. It was cut into bite size wedges that made it easy to share. Plus it was amazing!! It has goat cheese, mozzarella, figs, prosciutto, argulla, and a maple whiskey glaze. Entree: Shrimp tacos. It came with three tacos that had grilled shrimp, poblano cream, jicama, cilantro, lime, and pico de gallo. The shrimp was grilled nicely and had lots of flavor. I believe the food is higher quality, not completely "gourmet" but also head and shoulders above a typical breakfast restaurant. I would get a heartache over the slightly inflated pricing if the quality of food was worse. My favorite menu items are the steak and eggs or any of the omelette selections. Food is typically fresh, cooked perfectly and seasoned with a keen eye. The steak and egg plate that I ordered today was a 9/10. Can I tell you how it rare it is for a restaurant to offer "sweet potato hash"? It's extremely uncommon. Eggs were fluffy and warm. Add in fresh, bakery quality toast and I'm sold. Two drawbacks that would otherwise warrant a perfect rating are the inconsistencies in service and quality of food. The quality of food will always average above diner-level, but I've eaten here a few times and left with an air of disappointment over various breakfasts for one reason or another. The staff is typically warm and accommodating, but again, for a five star rating that average experience has to be 9/10, not 6.5-8.7/10. Being inconsistent in food quality or service is a killer.
