I may have found my new favorite Thai spot in Houston in an unsuspecting (tight) shopping center, but whose interior decor is open and bright with just enough seating room so that you don't feel as if you're sitting on the lap of nearby diners. The service was attentive and quick. To start, we ordered the Mana Sampler. The dumplings was the standout; the golden bags lacked any seasoning, but the accompanied sauce helped it a whole lot. My Thai iced latte was well-balanced enough to cool down the spicy-ness of me entree. My only wish was that the portions were a tad more generous; what I had remaining from my shared dinner entrees (yellow curry with beef and crab fried rice) were teasers for lunch at work the next day! Came for a quick evening dinner and was pleasantly surprised by the beautiful interior! Located in Rice Village. There was a good amount of parking when we arrived. There wasn't too many guests when we came and so we were quickly seated, and they immediately provided us with our menu and water! They had a lot of great Thai classics on their menu and so we ordered the pad kee mao, the crab fried rice and chicken sayay skewers. Right off the bat I feel like all three dishes had the perfect amount of spice. Definitely spicy, but not to a point where it was overwhelming! Cute spot nestled in Rice Village. We went during lunchtime on a weekend and we were quick to be seated and served. I ordered a Thai iced tea which was really yummy. Also ordered their papaya salad which was quite saucy but full of flavor with fish sauce and lime juice. We ordered the pad kee mao (drunken noodles) with tofu which was heavier on the tofu, wished they added more noodles as I really liked the wide shape and chewy texture of them. No shortage of decent Thai places around and here's another! Food was fresh and came out quickly. Everything was good but generally not unique. Brand new thai restaurant in the village! So new it's only been here a week and they still have the old restaurants name up. It says Ma Kitchen but the restaurant has changed to Mana Thai Kitchen sign coming soon per the owner. The interior is very nice with a large wine selection it appears. Right now they are previewing their soft open menu! I played it safe and ordered my usual basil fried rice! Service was fast but I was also the only one in there loool. Now the basil fried rice tasty! Not too greasy and the ingredients taste fresh. Not mu favorite of the bunch but i'd eat it again! Overall I like it! I want to try more things on the menu! read more

We had been here before and loved the food, so we decided to bring two guests with us for dinner. Unfortunately, our experience this time was disappointing. When we arrived, the waitress seated the four of us at a very small table. We politely asked if we could move to a larger table, but she refused, saying that the larger tables were reserved for parties of six. Throughout our meal, there were at least six empty large tables available. With four people sharing multiple dishes, the table quickly became overcrowded and uncomfortable. While the food was still excellent, we were unable to fully enjoy our dinner because of the cramped seating arrangement. We truly love the food here, but better attention to customer comfort would have made the experience much more enjoyable. read more

We tried MA Kitchen a couple of weeks ago, and it was OK, not my favorite spot. Here are the items I tried: -Night blossom: We split this appetizer, which included four dumplings, and I was really excited because they kind of looked like the flower dumpling from Kin Dee. While the flavor of the night blossom dumplings was good, the outside was super chewy and kind of stuck to my teeth. Not as good as Kin Dee. -Singapore noodles: I liked the Singapore noodles--even though I ordered without spice, they were a little spicy, which was tasty. Great flavor. Service was nice but perhaps a little too attentive--our table was the only table there for lunch, so I really think our server was trying to do a great job, but it was a bit much. read more

I don't know why this does not have a higher rating. I have nothing but positives. This food is delicious. I really like the papaya salad made with corn. Light and a unique twist. My wife and I recently made our decision to be active in trying new restaurants. Keeper for next visit 2. Singapore noodles upgraded to shrimp protein was also excellent 5/5 . Would have preferred a bit more green onions but my palate on this may be abnormal for the greater population. A keeper as well 3. Roar and sear (tiger cry in other places) 2/5. Not worth $35 imo. Portion was small. Ordered med rare but came out close to well done. Not as tender bc it was over cooked. I like Osha on Westheimer much better. 4. Ma's short rib noodles: 5.5/5 stars. Ambiance/decor was nice and unexpected, as that strip is in need of a refresh. Service was excellent (we were the only table for dinner) and server was very attentive. Food was tasty and special. We tried the chicken wings which I would definitely go back for, saucy, tangy, crispy fried basil was a nice touch. Lamb dish was a little undercooked (lamb was quite rare) but curry and rice were very unique, and dish was pretty. Short rib noodles were also very tasty and unique. My best friend and I were craving Thai and this was the closest to us! We decided to take a leap of faith and try it out and we were amazed at the quality and taste. Everything we had was perfectly cooked with a great range of flavors! Here is a list of what we tried and our thoughts! - Thai chicken wings- the best I've ever had! Crispy with a sweet and spicy tang that left you wanting a million more - pork buns- great meat to bun ratio with an added cucumber and sauce that was delicious - Thai fried rice- got this for our kids and they were eating it by the handful! - pad see ew with chicken- flavor that was unbelievable! We got mild and it was the perfect spice level with a touch of sweet - pad Thai- with a squeeze of lime and peanuts, this was devoured with not even one noodle left - mango sticky rice- perfect palate cleanser in between - on top of amazing food, the service was impeccable! Aliyah was our waitress and she was on top of everything! It's never easy dining with two toddlers and she went above and beyond to accommodate. My friend's boyfriend chose this place to surprise her for her birthday dinner. He figured it was new and we hadn't tried it yet. It was very empty for a Wednesday night, but this place is also new so no one probably knows about it! It was super spacious and really clean. Our host/server was really nice to us the whole time and super accommodating when we told him it was her birthday :) we ordered a beef tartare, which was actually really good and I normally don't really like that. My favorite dish was the pork belly and it reminded me of Indian food because it had like naan to eat it with. The second favorite was the basil fried rice with tofu (there are other meat options if you would like that!). We also ordered a noodle dish I believe that had beef? It wasn't my personal favorite, but my friends really liked it because they reminded them of a Vietnamese dish. We also ordered a sort of duck wrap. Sorry, I'm blanking on the names! Nine of us ate here last night. We had a wonderful time with delicious food and excellent service. The chef told us he is closing for a redefinition--to become Thai fusion instead of Chinese fusion. All of our food (Chinese) was great; reading reviews custormers found the same good quality. Some dishes were good , the dumplings were very l tiny but tasty. Short ribs delicious , clean restaurant , cocktails good- we did get a bad lobster - either was frozen or old , it smelled bad, my daughter who loves seafood went to the bathroom to spit the only bite - I didn't say anything, just paid for it and waitress just threw it away without noticing, we ate none of it , this worries me about food safety.. Family dinner for $400 just didn't quite reach the level I expected. . So the only 1 waitress had to also host and do all tables. So order was taken wrong, slow to change any plates so took them from another table, slow/ no drink refill. Now when I paid I got the receipt afterwards - automatic added 20% tip for 6 people which I don't have a problem until you end up with bad service , then the machine came up to ask for an additional tip which I paid, and a credit card charge too . Unless they turn this around fast , it going to not survive rice village - I give it 1 year max. Duck and Bao close by is much better and popular . read more
