Mami King -- now rebranded as Manami King -- I'll be honest, I'm not a huge fan of the new name. The rebrand felt a little random to me. But that aside, I genuinely love this place. I've been coming here since they were on Roscoe next to Black Angus, so I've seen the evolution. The recent changes to the space have been great. The ambiance is much more pleasant now -- less cluttered, more seating, and overall just more inviting. It feels easier to sit down and actually enjoy your meal there. I honestly think if they added a little music and curated a solid playlist, it would elevate the whole experience even more and really complete the vibe. Now to the food. Some people might think it's a little pricey, but in my opinion, it's worth it. The fried chicken is good. Out of every five visits, maybe once I'll get a piece that's a little bland. When I say bland, I mean it tastes like it may have been boiled first and then fried -- it just doesn't hit the same. If they can tighten up that consistency, it would be perfect. My mom loves the beef mami (noodle soup). It's solid. Sometimes the noodles could be a bit more al dente, but it's still always a hit for us. The siomai is good, though it's different from most places. It leans more toward a meatball texture. That said, when you pair it with their chili oil, it's delicious. The bangus (milkfish) is really good -- decent size, great flavor, great texture. Same goes for the lechon kawali. When we take it home, I'll usually throw it in the air fryer to crisp it back up, and it's perfect. The lugaw is great as well. And don't sleep on the sago-gulaman -- it's solid. They recently added Filipino breakfast to the menu. I've only tried it once so far, but it was really good. And if you're on the fence about my opinion, trust me -- I'm a big dude. This place hits. Service-wise, there's a woman there I always call Tita -- I forget her name -- but she's incredibly sweet and accommodating. Always a warm greeting when you walk in. The staff in general are friendly and welcoming. The only thing I wish they had is an online ordering option. That would make things even better. For now, just call your order in. Manami King né Mami King is one of the better Filipino restaurants in the San Fernando Valley. Mami refers to a Filipino style Rāmen in a light meat broth. Small eatery in a small strip mall where most interesting foods in L.A. seem to be. For takeout, go to the counter to order, or sit in a chair to have table service. 1) Kikiam is a rare, specialized dish similar to Thai Hoy Jaw. It is herbed, finely ground pork infused with Patís/fish sauce which is wrapped in Yuba/Tōfu skin and deep fried to a crisp. It looks like an egg roll, and the meat inside becomes meaty, dense. A sweet-sour chile sauce is a good accompaniment. This is a must get. 2) Lomi seems like a relative of Japanese Udon soup. The broth is soy sauce tinged and thickened with corn starch to a velvety consistency. Various fish terrine with different textures and flavours. Chicharón, fried pig skin, shredded chicken, shrimp, boiled egg. Cabbage, carrots, green onion. Comes our piping hot to my liking. Very satisfying noodle soup that especially would be welcomed on a cold winter day. I like it better than the Mami since it has more pronounced, distinct flavors. 3) Pancit Palabok: Slippery, thin glass noodles wetted with a Patís based broth. Sprinkling of powdered fried Chicharón, chopped green onions, dressed with sliced hard boiled eggs topped with streamed shrimp. 4) Lechon Kawali is pork with crisp skin, rich layer of fat, chewy meat fried in its own fat like carnitas. Mang Tomás sauce which has puréed pork liver, sweet-sour vinegar is a thick sauce that pairs perfectly with the wild porkiness. 5) The Sio Mai/Shūmai has dense, heavy, finely minced pork flavoured with Patís, touch of garlic wrapped by wheat flour Wonton skin. May not be my favorite, but acceptable. 6) Bola Bola Siopao is a relative of Bao. Humongous steam baked flour bun is sweet, cushy, very extra filling that carboholics will love. The inside has herbed ground pork, lop chong hoisin sauce infused sausage, and salted boiled egg. All of which doesn't have the fire power of strong tastes and amount to flavour the bland bun. For me, it was a waste of calories. 7) Halo Halo is totally worth the calories. At least 3 types of beans simmered in sugar sauce. Purple and green jellies for festive color. Cubes of eggy flan. Ubè purple, sweet potato and banana are simmered in brown sugar adding a woody, toasty, satisfying sweetness. Evaporated milk adds that dairy richness. This is not a dessert to be missed. A Must get. All in all, 4+ stars. You're missing out if you don't come to eat here. read more

Some places will overcook it causing the inner meat to be hard and chewy but not here!Outside is perfectly crispy, fat nicely rendered, and the inner meat is perfectly tender, moist, and flavorful. Our favorite Chicken Noodle Mami, Beef Noodle Mami and Siomai place here in the San Fernando Valley is Mami King. They simply have the best noodles. Their soups and noddles are perfect for this time of the year especially during the holiday season to keep us warm. The Chicken Noodle Mami is flavorful and has plenty of chicken both white meat and dark meat. It has lots of greens. The noodles are packed separately in plastic. It's up to you how much noodles you want to put in your soup container. One order is $10.95. The Siomai comes in 3 pieces for 1 order of $4.95. The Siomai is also good to try. Had lunch here, and we ordered the family meal for $38 which included a Kare kare, pancit bihon and rice and siomai. You can choose a different combination of your choice from the menu. My husband has been craving Mami King since last Sunday so we're back in Panorama City to get his fix. :) We arrived just as they opened and were happily welcomed in. Our server brought menus, utensils and napkins as we got seated, then took our drink order. I was surprised when my husband asked for Sago & Gulaman -- he would normally just take sips out of mine. I was happy to see that there is a Mami King in the area again. I've been a patron of the Mami King on Sunset in LA for many years and was sad when they closed down. This place is tiny with about 8 small tables to sit and eat. They had the usual on the menu: chicken and beef Mami, siopao, siomai, different types of pancit and drinks. We ordered 3 chicken mami, pancit Miki bihon (a combination of skinny and fat noodles) and 3 sago gulaman. Prices are reasonable. Got all of this for $70. Some may say expensive, but food was tasty. Mami King is one of my family's favorite Filipino restaurants to go to of all time!!! We've been going here for years since we enjoy the food a lot. We decided to get takeout out this time but we mostly eat inside the restaurant and it tends to be packed with other families eating as well. It's pretty popular, especially on the weekends! We like to get the family meal. This has a variety of options and we usually get the sisig, pancit bihon which comes with lechon kawali on top, and rice. We also get shumai and asado siopao. We didn't get it this time but we also like to get the savory chicken plate with java rice. Everything's yummy and comforting. The sisig meat is flavorful and cut into bite sized pieces that are easy to eat. The pancit bihon's noodles are cooked in a savory sauce. For the siopao, the bread is soft and fluffy and the meat inside is soft, juicy, and marinated well. The shumai isn't like the typical Chinese dumpling and is more like a meatball. I feel like this post doesn't do this place justice, but please know I love Mami King a lot and everyone should try it!!! read more

After going for a checkup, it was only right to pay this restaurant a quick visit. We ordered food to go and wanted something filling but enough to last for several meals. We ordered Pancit Palabok, which included "thin rice noodles mixed in a special sauce, topped with ground pork, sliced shrimp, and ground fried pork rind". This was so good and each bite was flavorful; we were able to taste all ingredients within each portion. It is also pretty tasty when lemon juice is dripped on this dish. For our other additions to our dinner, we had the Bola-Bola Siopao and Pork (Asado) Siopao. The former was a steamed bun "filled with seasoned ground pork, salted egg, Chinese sausage, and shiitake mushroom" and thelatter was steamed bun "filled with braised pork". One positive is that they were open July 4th. The food, however, was overpriced and portions were surprisingly small. We ordered: One Pancit palabok, Two Siopao Two halo halo Tap ice water = $47.89!! Plus $5 cash tip Palabok tasted just ok, meat and egg were separating from the bun in the siopao (very dry). Halo halo sago tasted stale (maybe past expiration date?) and sickeningly over sweet. I could only eat less than half, to my disappointment since I was very much looking forward to the halo halo salvaging the mediocre overpriced meal.
