Solid Filipino food in the Valley with 3 locations! The original location was inside the car wash in front of Costco in Northridge for years. When my mom was alive she loved it when I took her there and always wanted the Okoy! My cravings lean toward Kare Kare and I've tried many restaurants in the Valley, but, Lilian's flavor is the closest to my mom's cooking and remains my favorite! That location relocated to the Northridge Mall Food Court, where I hope gives more access to this underrated, under the radar cuisine. 2nd location is at Nordhoff/Woodley and 3rd is Sepulveda/Nordhoff. Kare Kare is usually available on the weekends. Also, I love their Ginataang Bilo Bilo (dessert)....also reminds me of my mom and so comforting. Lilian's is one of my favorite Filipino eateries. The food is consistently good, the servers are very friendly and accommodating (specially Jed on Woodley and Nordhoff branch) and the portions are big enough for two meals. They serve breakfast all day long which I really like because I love eating tapsilog or tocilog anytime of the day. If I could give zero stars, I would. Ordered the Cebuchon for my mother's funeral reception 2 weeks ahead of the event. I told them I had to pick up it up around 8am on the day of because the mass is at 11 so I had to get the food to make it to the mass (we live a bit away and I have to get dressed, do the funeral preparations and what not). Fast forward to the night before, a lady from Lilian's calls me to say I can't pick up at 8am and the earliest I can pick up is 11. It was very annoying they waited so long to inform me but since the Cebuchon was factored into our menu and could not be replaced, I agreed to a $50 delivery fee to the venue 12:30-1. The day of the funeral, we were livestreaming the mass using my phone and of course, Lilian's was calling endlessly, disrupting the Zoom. When I got out of the mass, there were at least 7 missed calls. I talked to the delivery guy and he was already at the venue, it was not even 12:30. I got a call again from the lady who called the night before and she said, "sabi natin di ba 12-12:30?". I distinctly remember telling her the night before that it was a mass and I can't predict what time it will end so better make it 12:30-1. I was fine with the last minute change and then the high delivery fee. What I can't tolerate is how they disrupted a once in a lifetime solemn event. And then had the audacity to give me attitude that I was late accepting the delivery. Seriously. Note that the livestream was about 3am in the Philippines and so many people stayed up late to watch and pay respects. The unprofessional people at Lilian's caused us much undue stress at an already very difficult time. Much as we enjoyed their Cebuchon, their establishment has lost our support forever. read more

Love Lilian's Bread & Sweets and we are so happy that they opened up this location on Nordhoff & Sepulveda. Since they opened we frequent this place. They not only offer delicious drinks and traditional Filipino food, they also provide excellent customer service. The ladies that make our drinks and assist in prepping with our food orders are always pleasant and courteous. Always with a smile along with the, "Good afternoon po". The chicken and pork barbecue is a must try. Very flavorful and not too sweet just the right amount of seasoning. The lechon kawali always fresh and crispy and not all fat. As for their hopia mongo, it is the best hopia mongo in the SFV. Also if you haven't tried their chicken empanada and turon (filled with banana and jackfruit), you're missing out. Last but not the least their Mangonada, mango boba, taro boba, cookies & cream boba and Thai Iced Tea has the right amount of flavor. The drinks and boba are really good and not too sweet. Mangonada is filled with mangos on the top while the cookies & cream boba is just the right amount of Oreos. Thai Iced Tea you can taste the tea and not the cream nor sugar which is how I'm normally like my Thai Iced Tea not too sweet. Lilian's first started at a car wash diner in Northridge. They had moved their thriving business to the Northridge Mall. They also have two other locations: Sepulveda Blvd and Nordhoff streets and another one next to Seafood City market on Woodley and Nordhoff streets. I go to the Mall location and sometimes to the Seafood City one. Their food was much better when they were at the car wash. It might be due to a change of cooks. Generally speaking, if your taste is not that familiar with authentic Filipino food, their food can pass. They also serve baked goods like Hopia and empanada and various kakanin. I recommend their fresh lumpia and okoy. Their halo halo is also good and one of their best selling items. read more

I have to say I am a little torn about this review. Having not had much Filipino food I am not sure what to expect and the service was not what I had hoped it to be. When I walked in I asked what dishes were chicken since I'm not used to eating Filipino food. They looked at me and with such a long pause finally said, well the chicken adobo has it. He didn't bother to say anything else and I figured it was going to be a long day if I had to ask about each thing I looked at. None of the dishes had a label and the menu, I'm not sure where it even was. The screen behind him was off. After I tried my best to look at the other stuff and try to figure it out, I had the chicken adobo platter with have rice and noodles. The chicken pieces were primarily bones. I was a bit confused because I dont know if that's how it's supposed to be done. It was flavorful and the meat was tender but dang, those bones were such a let down. The rice and noodle side dishes were delicious and cooked perfectly. Now, I couldn't tell you for sure but the person who assisted me "thought" it was pork in the noodles, but it would have been nice to know for sure since he worked there. I also had a chicken empanada and lumpia, I hope I remember that right and some coconut mochi type bites. The coconut bites were also a let down because he described them as filled with coconut but it was a dense coconut dough glazed in carmelized sugar. It was not my favorite and I was let down at the first bite. The empanada was good. I was surprised as I have never had raisins in one before. It cuts the richness of the filling. The lumpia was ok, I guess I am not a plantain fan though. Overall, I would love to have had more explanations of dishes versus just having my pronunciation of a single word corrected. Service overshadowed the food in this case. Can't say that I will be back. read more

So excited Lilian's opened in the Northridge Mall. Totally upset with the food & service. The young man taking my order had a mask and spoke so low I could not hear him. An older lady, possibly in charge, kept answering the questions I was asking the young man, but she was rather rude. I asked questions about the food and received a lot of eye rolls. The pork adobo had so much fat. By the time I removed the fat, there was very little meat. The lentil soup was flavorless. The worst was when I asked for a cup of water. The young man was prepared to give me a cup of water from the soda machine, when the older lady told him something in his ear. He then dumped the water out and gave me water from the sink. I went in to their new location at the Northridge Mall, and walked out paying over $100 for three breakfast items, and the 4 medium size a la carte items, and four pieces of Bangus fish, which items were overpriced in my opinion. And aside from that, after looking at my receipt, I was charged for "misc item" $16. I tried calling their location upon noticing the charge and was unable to get a hold of anyone. So I went on their website and emailed them that way. It has been a week and no one has responded to my email. I've stopped at this place on my way home & I've been able to eat there before. Mind you it's 6:28pm this place closes at 7pm I had told the cashier you close at 7pm & she says yes I told her that I wanted to eat here. The cashier says that there cleaning and she's telling me about the smell. I had told her that's fine but after her telling me that I changed my mind to eat there. How can you run a business when a customer just bought food from your establishment & then you turn them away from allowing them to eat what they bought. I had already commuted over an 1 hr from work & I was hungry already. I enjoyed the food here, but the service was pretty bad. I was in line with about 4 other people, (so a really small line), and it took about 30 minutes for someone to come and help us. There were 2 women and a male working, and they had no sense of urgency. One of the older women seemed to be doing her best, helping, but when she asked her co-worker, the younger male, for help, he said he was too busy to help. He was adding pastries to the pastry section, but was really just taking his time. He would look over at the line, but would turn away and not offer any help to the customers or to his co-workers. I definitely think they should improve on their customer service. They can start by simply greeting the customer as they walk in, and offering assistance for anyone in line...pretty basic I think. read more

Honestly, I wanted to like it. I'm Filipino and I love supporting Filipino businesses. I've had their hopia before at the car wash and it is really good! As far as the turo-turo (point point) menu, I was not impressed. I went on a week night for dinner time around 6pm looking for some Filipino food. I decided to stop by because I noticed they were finally open! I walked in and the entrees did not look appetizing. They looked like they had been sitting in the heating trays all day. Since we were already there, we decided to order anyway. We got the beef menudo, Bangus sisig, and Lechon kawaili. The menu was not good at all... the tomato base tasted so sweet like it was meant for Filipino spaghetti. The sisig had tofu in it and it wasn't crispy. The skin on the bangus was soggy. The only good thing was the lechon. I'll try to come back around lunchtime next time when the food is cooked fresh... for now I am not impressed at all. read more
