I use this company a few times a week for my dog- they are incredibly easy to book (they use an online system), the owner is very communicative and quick to respond. You pay on the website too so you don't need to remember to mail a check or leave the payment on your counter or anything. I requested autopay, and I never even need to think about it. Also, as a stereotypical millennial I HATE talking on the phone- so far I've dealt with them mainly through email, text, and their scheduling website (and obviously in person for meet and greets)... perfect. That's exactly what I want. When my dog got spayed, the walker was very communicative about how my dog seemed when the walker got there, which was very comforting to know, since I was fretting about my fur baby while I was at work! Another time I ended up staying home sick from work, and the walk had already been scheduled- I could see first hand that my dog was very excited to see the walker, which is obviously the best performance review possible haha. My experience with Pooch Scoochers has been nothing but positive. The owner Ashley is very easy to get in touch with and shows a genuine interest in me and my dog's needs. When I first moved to East Falls and had my new dog with me, I considered using one of the dog walking apps. Because of my apartment complex, I realized it would be too complicated explaining to a new dog walker each time where to go and how to get in. I wouldn't recommend this service to anyone. I went on vacation trusting my elderly cat on daily medication to this service and they left her for over 36 hours because of a "blizzard" of 4.75 inches without her food and meds. Yep that was the total less than 5 inches and the storm was over by 3pm. The appointment was at 2pm. I checked that radar thing and the snow totals. I couldn't actually believe she wasn't coming. Because my cat was elderly she would get scared and panicked if her food bowel was empty and I can only imagine the stress she had likely thinking I left her. Cats can get off kilter pretty easy even when they are healthy, and I got no sleep that night. The rest of my trip was spent wondering if and how they were caring for her after that. The actual girl who mainly cared for her seemed nice and I got a bit more relaxed but was still worried. My cat ended up passing the day before I got home. I got a call at 11am from the owner and called my vet immediately (they are 20mins away) and the owner Ashely refused to take my cat to my vet but forced me to have her body taken to a strange vet I didn't know. My vet was open until 1pm. She found it more important to have her pet sitter run to the next visit and didn't give a crap my cat died and about my heartbreak or my last wish and need to at least be assured she was going to my vet somewhere they knew her. In the service agreement, they say they may not be able to come out in a weather emergency so in Philly we get snow. If they don't come out in less than 5 inches they should just say they don't come out in any snow period. At least set realistic expectations well in advance that you don't deal with any weather. You don't try and cancel before the snow hits when your client is 7 hours away either. Yep she tried that first. Additionally, their service agreement asks for your vets name number in case of emergency and say they would only use a strange vet in the event they are unable to reach you. Lastly, I really didn't want to write this review. I was upset and expressed my upset to the sitter and owner and hoped the owner would be able to take constructive criticism and I was going to leave it at that. No review, just hope she got it to be kind. I chose to write this after I received a hand written note from the owner a week after my pet's death telling me how sorry she was but how right she was to do all the things she did and then justify why she did them. A non apology apology. This is an owner who runs her business like an amateur and makes decisions based on her needs due to her poorly managed business. Buyer Beware. read more

I am so disappointed to see that Austin and his crew only got 4.5 stars. Austin took care of my two dogs for 5 years until they both passed. He was always reliable and went above and beyond the call of duty! One of my pups became too arthritic to walk and he put her in the radio flyer wagon I bought for her everyday and wheeled her outside so she could enjoy the outdoors. He lifted her 60lb body in and out of that wagon so she do her business. When my other dog was nearing his end he had surgery and couldn't walk at all. Austin did his very best for almost two months to help walk him and try to rehab his injured leg. Let me assure it was not only heartbreaking it was an incredibly difficult endeavor. When my first one passed on he brought me flowers. Austin truly loves his dogs. He even posts pics of them on his website. We've been using Manayunk Pooch Scoochers since October 2013 and couldn't be happier! Austin is great and we're so thankful he introduced us to Ashley. We interviewed several walking services and knew right away that we were in great hands with these two based on how they interacted with our puppy right off the bat. Ashley has been our walker since day 1 and is our Rhodesian Ridgeback's best friend. She spoils not only our puppy but us too. She is always prompt, takes great care of our pup, leaves the best notes, and sends us the cutest pictures during her visits. If our puppy is feeling sick Ashley will even text us status updates just to put us at ease. This winter has had so many snow storms, yet it's never been a problem for them to get to us in East Falls.
