I left my dogs with Sarah Moureau at forpawsphilly.com in July 2023. I had originally signed up for a long weekend - three nights. I was a little dubious given the state of her house and yard, both of which were in a high state of neglect. But I was desperate for that weekend, so I dropped them off on Friday. The weekend turned rainy, so I let Sarah know on Saturday evening that I was returning early and the dogs would not be staying over on Sunday nite. I arrived home on Sunday at 11am and called to pick them up. Sarah informed me that she would be home at 3pm and I could get them then. Later, she asked for 3:15. When I arrived at 3:30 ish, she was just getting home. Obviously, she was not home most of the day Sunday to care for the dogs, which is what she was being paid for. She later sent me a bill for the whole 3 overnights amount, $300. When I called her to dispute this, she claimed that I hadn't given 24 hour notice, which I had. But she also became very argumentative. I told her she could have $300 with a review or $250 without one. She did not respond to this and a couple of weeks later, after not hearing from her, I tried to pay her through her website. The website was not working, so I sent her cash through PayPal. I added a note that I was paying this way because her website wasn't working. I still did not hear back from her so I eventually called PayPal to be sure she had received the money, which she had. A couple of weeks later, I received my AMEX bill and saw that she had already billed AMEX for the full amount. And she took the PayPay money as well. Responsible? NO. Flexible? NO Honest? NO I would never recommend this business nor this caretaker. I would worry about her house falling apart and no one being home with the dogs. And I had to block her from calling or texting me. Buyer beware. read more

I have never had anything but good experiences with For Paws Philly. They've been taking care of my cat whenever I go out of town for a couple of years now, and Sarah and her crew do an excellent job, being very responsive and providing quality care. If I have any complaints it's that based on the daily notes the catsitter leaves, my cat seems to like them more than me! read more

Kelly and For Paws Philly are lifesavers and miracle workers! Seriously. Two days before my girlfriend and I were set to take off for vacation, things fell through with our dog sitter and we were left in a panic. We contacted nearly every walker we could find in the hopes that someone would be available over Memorial Day weekend with a day's notice -- a tall task. Their website indicates For Paws Philly is special in their ability to respond to last minute requests, and that couldn't be more true. Kelly got back to me within a few hours (!!!), and we set up a meet and greet for the next day. Cassie turned out to be the walker that would be in charge of our two boys, and she accompanied Kelly to the meet and greet. We were shocked that our difficult, people-scared dog responded to her right away. The meet and greet went smoothly and then we were off to vacation! It was such an incredible relief to know our boys were in such good hands. Cassie was kind enough to coordinate with our friend, who checked in on the boys at night, and we came home to happy puppies who seemed to have been on their best behavior. We will definitely be using For Philly Paws from now on whenever we go out of town. They are up to the task when it comes to difficult dogs and special requests, flexible and responsive, and their prices are beyond reasonable for the peace of mind their services provide. One of the most stressful things about adding a puppy to the family was finding someone to walk him while my wife and I were working. To allow a stranger access to your dog and your home is no minor thing. So like anyone would do I reviewed yelp dog walker reviews. The first walker I hired I was not so impressed so I moved on. My wife and I then got a hold of For Paws. Kelly from For Paws was going to be Oliver's Walker. Fortunately Kelly with For Paws has been terrific. She has been completely trustworthy with our home. When first hiring a walker I did have some reservations about letting a stranger into our home. I think it is a natural feeling. I now do not think twice about it. She has also been very good with handling our dog. With each visit she leaves a little note updating us on how the walk went. Our puppy Oliver loves her. And this is a high maintenance dog. He is a 1 and a half year old Lab-Setter mix. My wife and I are both nurses and work irregular schedules with 12 hour shifts. This was problematic in finding a dog walker with a reasonable rate. At times, we need Kelly 5 times a week including weekends and others we may not need her for weeks. We just send her an email on Sunday at the beginning of the week. She responds promptly to confirm. We have been using For Paws Philly for the over a year to walk our two dogs on a regular basis. For Paws has also provided house sitting services while we were on vacation and has also had our two dogs at her home. For our past vacation, two weeks over Christmas, we had Sarah, the owner of For Paws, watch our dogs at her house. We were supposed to drop them off on 12/21/09 - the Monday after the big snow storm - so that we could catch an overseas flight early in the evening. We ended up being crunched for time and Sarah was able to come over and pick them up with only a few hours notice. They have both been at her house before and enjoy being there. Our one is not so great with other dogs, Pepper, so Sarah keeps him separated from other dogs she is watching but the other, Doctor, had a great time playing with the other dogs that Sarah was watching. While on our trip Pepper has some issues with an ear infection that we thought had cleared up before we left. She arranged to take him to our Vet and got him some additional medication which she applied for the rest of his stay. Sarah also comes over once a week so that my wife and I can go out after work and the dogs are always really excited to see her. Doctor is normally very scared of strangers - she was badly abused before we adopted her - but after a few visits she warmed up to Sarah and is now very happy to see her. Sarah was also great with an older dog that we had to put down earlier this year. Pinkie was only with us for a couple of years but she was a very special dog and Sarah always left very detailed notes about how she was doing on her weekly walks and alerted us when she thought there might be a problem. To sum up - Sarah has always come over to walk our dogs as scheduled, she is open to scheduling last minute walks, and leaves good notes as to results of each walk. More importantly, she takes great care of our dogs when she has them and is genuinely concerned about their welfare. read more

Sarah is terrific with my two-year old German Shepherd Jack. He can be quite a handful and she is great with him. He's working thru a few aggression issues and she has been great with advice. Her post walk notes are fantastic and when you read them when you get home you feel as though you were along on the walk with them. Jack always is in a very good mood when I get home late on a day that Sarah walked him. Highly recommended. read more

Sometimes I think my dog loves Sarah (the owner) more than me! We use for paws for out of town trips only, not daily walking service. Sometimes we have them come to the house and sometimes we 'board' at their place. Either way, our little pooch is happy and well adjusted when we return. She used to get all stressed out when we went away and her sitters would say she got progressively worse the longer we were gone. Its enough to make a dog-owner skip the long vacations. But she loves all the walkers at For Paws and they take great care of our Shelby. They leave little notes about their adventures everyday. They've also been really flexible with us since sometimes plans fall through and we cancel or sometimes we have to go away kind of last minute. Their service expanded to some areas that are adjacent to center city, so if you contacted them before and they didn't serve your area its worth another try. read more

I travel for work every week. Many times with less than 24 hours notice. I've never had an issue with scheduling last minute, which is so huge. My dog (Maggie) always looks happy when I get home - she spends all week running around playing with other dogs. She's also diabetic, and Sarah administers her meds (eye drops) when I'm away and contacts me if there are any unusual things with Maggie's health. I couldn't be happier and highly recommend For Paws to anyone who needs to give their pets exercise while at work or for crate-free overnights (crate free is a huge deal). We love For Paws Philly. Alex and Sarah took care of our four cats for a week while we took a vacation. One cat needed medicine twice daily. Both Sarah and Alex were in touch with us either by text or phone call. When there was a question about our eldest cat, Sarah was in touch by phone call and took her to the vet to be checked out - all was fine. But it was so reassuring that the cats were in the best hands. When we arrived home, everyone was happy and visible, a feline tell-tale sign of good care. There are not words for how great this business is! We have had Kelly and Cassie come take care of our dogs several times now for short and long durations. We have 2 little dogs, 1 of which is an older chihuahua mix that can be very difficult to deal with. Kelly and Cassie won him over with their patience and kindness. They are wonderful with short notice when we decide to go away for a night or two and we felt so relieved knowing our boys were so well taken care of and happy during our extended times away. They send you updates via text and even pictures of your happy furry family members. They are simply wonderful and my girlfriend and I are so grateful for everything they do. We're very thankful for For Paws Philly and Kelly - she's absolutely wonderful!! Our three dogs love her and are always so happy to see her when she comes to take them for mid-day walks. Our schedules are crazy - but Kelly is always able to accommodate visits, even at the last minute - which is incredibly helpful. In addition, one of our dogs is sort of a "special needs" dog and Kelly has been so great about keeping up with whatever we threw her way with Satchel's rehab needs - whether it was a sling or a wheelchair (or socks to keep his feet covered). We couldn't trust his care with just anyone - but always felt confident that he was in good hands when Kelly came to visit. There's always a note waiting for us when we get home to let us know how the visit went and Kelly is always responsive when reaching out by text or email for scheduling or even updates. Sarah is a fantastic dog walker. She's been walking our pup Frankie for a couple weeks now and it's been perfect. Frankie loves Sarah and is always excited to see her. Sarah always leaves us a note to let us know how Frankie did each day, and she even posts fun videos with her on Facebook. Also, Sarah has been great with last minute requests. She made us and Charlie feel comfortable by inviting us to her place and allowing Charlie to sniff around and get acclimated before he stayed the night. AMAZING! My husband and I are not too ashamed to say that our cat is the center of our lives. We usually have a backup of family/friends who take care of him when we're out of town, but we found ourselves with no one to look after him over the holidays. We were VERY nervous to leave him in the care of a service that was new to us, however all that worrying was totally unnecessary. Sarah and her team were unbelievably understanding and easy to work with. They listened and respected all of my crazy demands for my cat's care, sent me emails each day they were in our home and gave our cat the highest level of care during their busiest time of the year! We trust Sarah and her employees in our home, and we love the level of detail they leave in the notes from their visits. Willow has also gone to Sarah's house for play dates with some of the other dogs, and is much more playful there than she ever was at daycare in Philly. We have been with Sarah and her team for over 2 years now, and wouldn't have it any other way. They are responsive, and are always willing to help out when you are in a pinch. As someone who was hesitant to leave my dog with a stranger while going out of town, I am now 100% sure that For Paws Philly will be the place that I leave my dog while I'm out of town. The owner Sarah, met up with me and my dog Carlin a couple of weeks before my trip just to get acquainted with Carlin and I. We got to check out the space and get to know Sarah a little bit and get any questions/concerns answered. The one thing I like about the space is its open, no crates unless absolutely needed which she says is rare. Carlin being a big dog needs ample room and this place although not huge, provides ample room for multiple dogs. And yes, I was still a little bit hesitant when I left out of town. However, I can now say that all hesitation is gone as Sarah took excellent care of my baby. She would let me text her asking updates on how things were going and offered advice on some issues I had had when walking Carlin (which I will be using). She also changed my dogs bandage a few times and gave her her medicine. Carlin seemed very happy when I picked her up and seemed to take a liking to Sarah. Needless to say I think I found a permanent dog sitter for when I need one and Im so grateful. read more

Sarah is not only the best, she is surrogate pet mom! We adopted a puppy rescue last August who is a Tasmanian devil masquerading as a sweet furry dog. Kelly and her fellow walkers at For Paws have been more than helpful in all my last minute situations (most of them are!). She always goes out of her way to fit my dog in for a walk and dinner, especially when I find out I'll be working late- which is always last minute. I always try to call as early as possible, because she is busy, but I am always amazed that she can schedule me. She also has been there to take care of my cat while I am away- feeding, litter box and lots of attention because he kind of demands it. I also want to note that my dog is dog-aggressive, and she has never had a problem working with her. She is experienced enough to manage her on her walks and be careful to avoid other dogs, which is really hard in South Philly. She met with me and we walked my dog together, and she was very confident that she could manage her. She always made me feel comfortable and assured that both of my pets are receiving the best care and that she enjoys what she does. I have recommended her to friends, too.
