We signed up for a 30 minute time slot (which for my 2 year old was plenty), but I could've stayed for hours! The cats were very cute, friendly and well cared for. The employees were kind and knowledgeable. I appreciated they had toys to use, which my daughter had fun waving around and playing with the kitties. If we didn't already have 2 and live in Baltimore, we would've definitely considered adopting! My husband made a donation though, which hopefully helps them care for more! The only reason I didn't give it a 5 is that the name of cafe is misleading at best. There was a Keurig and no food... I wouldn't call that a cafe. It was also a little expensive for the time you get, but we're cat lovers and it goes to a good cause so that can be overlooked. read more

I saw a similar cat Cafe several years ago, but unfortunately it closed due to Covid. This one was close to where I was staying and decided to give it a try. Didn't know what to expect. I only took one half hour because I had to head north again. Next trip I will do at least one hour. There were approximately 20 cats in each one had an individual personality. What a great time! I read a previous review of having a heavy smell, not here. At least not when I was here. Very clean, taking care of and the cats were well treated and spoiled. Love it! If you think one hour is enough, that one hour will pass by quickly because there are many cute cats to interact with here! There's an area by the door where some cats nap, there's also cat towers, and even shelving along the wall for cats to run around! There are also tables for guests to sit at and light refreshments too. Overall, the atmosphere is really relaxed and many cat personalities are present. Some cats will approach you, some are just napping, others are ready to play, and some just want to do their own thing. All of the cats are adoptable too! Excited to check this place out and play with the cats. Cost $15 per person to reserve for 1 hour. It's not much of a cafe with specialty drinks, but they offer you Keurig coffee or tea that you can make inside. You are able to apply and adopt any of the cats. I assumed when you reserved the hour that it would have been more private session or less people, but there was at least 12+ people in the same hour we reserved. The cats seemed very overstimulated with the amount of people there. Most of the cats I tried to interact with either hissed or didn't want to play. I did get scratched by one and bit so I was intimated to interact with the rest of the cats. Staff offers you treats to feed the cats while you interact with them. You have the option to stay for 30 or 60 minutes. There's a section that has coffee and tea. I had no information about any of the cats and had to walk around the strong litter smelling space to find out myself. This is no café, more of a space where cats roam free and most of them have seemed to attack each other in the past. They even had a poor little sick cat walking around and being messed with by other cats. A new cat was also introduced by some random lady who walked in. This cat was terrified and then attacked while I was sitting and watching. I left immediately. When we were there a lady who seemed to work there brought in a new cat to the building, just opened the carrier and let her out WITH NO INTRODUCTION! Since there was no introduction there was a bad cat fight with at least four of the cats at once. I wish I could rate this place more highly, given their great mission. Staff are pleasant, but I wonder if they've become nose-blind due to how intense the cat stench is in there. I had visited a few years ago and didn't have a problem with it, but now it hits you like a brick wall when you enter. Absolutely loved my visit here for my first time at a cat cafe! The process was very simple - reserve an hour (or more) slot online beforehand ($15/hr) for non members & includes coffee if you want, sign a waiver beforehand, and read house rules. The cats were almost all very playful, and you can tell the place really cared about their cats at least from talking to the employee who was there at the time of our visit. He shared stories of the cats, especially one very sweet shy one they nurtured from hiding in their basement to being upstairs and comfortable with humans. However, shortly after adopting him, he turned out to be extremely sick with a systemic toxoplasmosis infection that nearly killed him. He was a shyer adult cat at the shelter. I know the cafe is working to try to spare cats from worse fates on the street, but my suggestion to them is not to overlook the possibility that particularly their shy cats might simply be ill. read more

While we were there, we celebrated an adoption for one cat and another family was going through the adoption application process. The staff were very informative and helpful. My daughter is such an animal lover she wanted to adopt or foster all the cats that were there. My daughter didn't want to leave, we were able to take as much time as we needed. A lovely spot. For only $10, we came to Cats and Coffee to pet rescue kittens and cats for an hour and to our surprise, refreshments were provided! The place was so cat-centric - lots of shelves, nooks, crates, and play tunnels for kittens to hide in. At the same time, there were a lot of spots for humans to sit down and relax while petting some cats. I like the personal, chill atmosphere that the owners have cultivated with this place. Although I'm not a cat person, I was amazed at the sheer number of cats that were in that day. There were at least 15 cats. A lot of us were fighting for their attention, but most of the cats were very relaxed, contrary to what I've heard about moody cats at other cat cafes. Higgins was a little grumpy, but adorable. The one-hour reservation was definitely enough for me. Le Cat Cafe is a 14-minute bus ride from Suburban Station so it's relatively accessible. I am a huge cat fanatic some may say cat lady but I take that as a compliment! As part of my Christmas gift my friend decided to surprise me & make a reservation her. They only take reservations & it's on a half or full hour basis. Luke was an amazing host, he was pleasant & answered all of my questions. He knew all the cats names & even their personalities! I loved just sitting on the floor letting the kitties come up to me, and play with them. I wish I could have given them all a wonderful home with me, but I already am a mommy to 3 beautiful rescues. I hope if you're in the fence about rescuing a cat, this is the purrfect opportunity to visit with them & truly see them in their own environment and not in a small confined room. Green Street Rescue does an amazing job helping stray cats & kittens find their furever homes, and while they wait for their new homes, they get a ton of love and attention from the rescues & patrons visiting this purrfect cafe! read more

So let me begin by saying that the work they do is admirable and hard, and I know it's got to be a struggle to survive in this economy. What I say below is out of a sincere desire to see Le Cat Cafe thrive. This isn't a traditional cat cafe where you can go get a good coffee and work for an hour on your laptop. The coffee is a self serve Keurig. That's it. The storefront unfortunately smells strongly of cat urine, so much so I could not wait to get out of there. I realize having an ever revolving cast of cats inhibit a space, marking their territory is a nightmare. I don't know how other places manage to not smell, but I've been to a bunch that haven't so it must be possible. read more

Many moons ago, before I had little humans (who sometimes act like animals) to take care of, I rescued cats. Lots and lots of cats. I would often partner with Kathy of Green Street Rescue when we were neighbors over on Green St. When I got word she and a few others opened one of the ever so popular "cat cafes" which created such a buzz in Asia, (their original place of origin) right here in the city, I just HAD to try it out!! So glad we did! Located in the very "up and coming" Brewerytown section of the city is a small Purr-isian inspired cafe with a dozen or so cats of all ages who are up for foster care and/or adoption. They roam the space which was so cleverly designed for felines freely and it's quite awesome. The price of admission is $12 for a one hour adult visit which includes a cup of Keurig of your choosing. Children under 12 are free! You can make your appointments through their website or by calling over the phone. It was very simple and there was availability somewhat last minute! This visit was made shortly after my first ever kitty passed and couldn't have come at a better time. It was purr-fect. (Sorry, I can't help myself) I truly believe in animal therapy! This world could use more of it! If you're feeling down, come here! If you're not, and simply love cats, come here! If you're in the market for a rescue, come here! If you have time and space to foster, come here! Just come here! I felt all warm and fuzzy after our time spent here at Le Cat Cafe. It was cold and rainy. I was singing along to David Gray they had on the stereo and I sipped some warm apple cider as I played on the floor with my new friends figuring out how to convince my husband to let me adopt them all. It was a truly lovely afternoon spent with my best friend, daughters and our new furry friends. I also enjoyed time spent chatting with Luke who ran the place that day. He was super sweet, knowledgeable about each and every kitty's story. Ask him! He was so kind to my girls and even gave them a 'Secret Life Of Pets' DVD and pins too! Nothing makes my heart as happy as going to see some animals! Le cat cafe was super cute! It had the nicest cat and they were super playful. The women that staff the location were very nice and help, they answered all of my questions and even told me about their mission to adopt out these cats. This place is a little pricey but if I bring my 9 year old (12 and under are free), it balances out. I am allergic to cats but because I am a saint, I took allergy medicine and brought my daughter. I love cats, but had to wash my hands after petting them. Even with that, I was sneezing but able to hold off the whole hour. Your admission covers an hour of playing with cats. There are so many toys to play with the cats with. Lots of obstacles, stands for them to climb over. You also get a free coffee, hot cider, or hot chocolate. Plenty of places to sit. Le Cat Café is the spot in Philly for cat lovers. By day, it's a café. Even more special, on Monday night's it's a cat yoga studio. I was greeted by several mellow felines and the instructor, Catherine aka "Cat." I was a little early so was just able to sit and play with the curious kitties. I brought my own mat, however they had mats for us to use as the cats will walk/claw on them. Cat cleaned down the floor and mats prior to the class beginning. I love a good pun and was thrilled to practice "catarunga" and "happy cat" as opposed to cow. We still did up dog and down dog; luckily the cats didn't mind. The class was on the smaller side and I appreciate that Cat asked everyone if they had any injuries and if anyone was new to yoga. She was able to tailor the practice to the group. I personally enjoyed that it wasn't a power yoga and we weren't trying any crazy poses. It gave much more time to interact with the 12 cats roaming the floor and I still got some good stretches/movement. It was a blast to have our new furry friends wandering past and even sitting on the mats throughout the class. I had a little buddy that stayed on the end of my mat for a good part of the class. Trust is having a cat you just met at your feet while in final relaxation. Towards the end of the practice cat nip was sprinkled around the room to encourage the cats to come closer. At the end of the practice we were given some treats to feed the cats. I had one little guy eating out of my hand. The humans were treated to a warm beverage after class at all. All of these cats are up for adoption, as part of the Green Street Rescue. They offer TRN (Trap, Neuter, Return), fosters and rescuing services. Throughout the café there are opportunities to donate and learn more about the cats. Me-wow. Yoga at Le Cat Café is a great experience that also benefits the animal community. read more

This is more like a cat parlor with some coffee/tea, rather than a coffee shop with cats. After all, on yelp it's listed as a pet adoption place, rather than a cafe. The French-themed decor is a little cliche, but it is still very clean, calm, and relaxed. It isn't very well-lit, nor is it particularly cozy, but after all it's a place to enjoy cats--not a place to curl up with a book or do work on your laptop. Though you could if you wanted to. I spent most of the time roaming the cafe and interacting with different cats, rather than sitting down in one place and waiting for them to come with me. Most of the other people in the cafe were doing the same. The drinks are self-serve. They have a Keurig machine that creates coffee and tea. You get one K-cup with your admission price. The cat structures are impressive (stairs on the walls for cats to climb up, a cat-sized hamster wheel, shelves all over). The space seems really comfortable for the cats. Most of the cats were very friendly and pretty cuddly. A few of them had playful personalities, and there were toys scattered around the space that you could use to play. Additionally, staff members there were very friendly and very knowledgeable about the cats! The manager told us that the cats are slightly more active in the morning, and sleepier in the afternoon. This is a great place to go if you're looking for a cat fix or looking to adopt a cat. I left feeling happy and relaxed!
