It was initially a good shopping experience but now that our mattress has arrived we're a bit disappointed and feeling a bit mislead. We were in the market for a replacement mattress and wanted to try many brands. We are not the people who are gonna be able to afford an $8000 mattress but we wouldn't mind spending $2-4,000 on a worthwhile option. The sales person sold us on the fact that Helix mattresses aren't "bed in a box" like brands like Casper and Nectar, where they compress the mattresses into a tiny package because that can negatively affect the life or integrity of the materials. We agreed and decided to go ahead and spend more money on the Helix for that and other reasons. Well, they delivered today and our king-sized mattress showed up in this TINY little rolled and vacuumed-sealed package. The delivery guys broke the seal and laid out this tiny flat pancake of a mattress on our bed and said that it would take at least a couple of hours for it to decompress. We have now confirmed with Helix that all of their mattresses are compressed (they are, it turns out, just another "bed in a box" company like the ones we were cautioned against...) Now we're wondering if we should've just gone for one of the equivalent mattresses from some of the cheaper online brands, whether it's from a brick and mortar like Mancini's or online. We are also wondering what else we were told that wasn't really the case. Is the warranty as good as he made it sound? We're feeling a bit tricked into buying a better product that we received. Had we been given the correct information about how the mattress would arrive, we may have still chosen to buy that one, but at least we would've had the information to be able to make the decision. Now we have to wait 30 days before we can return it and it's gonna cost us $99+ to do so. Even if we end up liking the bed, we won't tolerate having anything in our home that has bad juju like something that we were mislead about. read more

I had such a great experience at Mancini's Sleepworld in Sunnyvale with Scott. He was helpful, informative, and never pushy--he respected my time (and the fact that I was shopping with a small child). He encouraged me to take my time and come back when I was ready, which I really appreciated. When I returned, Scott clarified exactly what I was looking for, pulled up prices and deals, and even offered VIP delivery. After comparing online and in other stores, he truly gave me the best price on a big investment purchase: an Eastern King Tempur-Pedic mattress with the Ergo Base. The whole process was quick and smooth--I spent maybe 20 minutes in the store, checked out, and was on my way. By Tuesday, my bed was delivered, set up, and I was sleeping on it. They have a large selection of mattresses at this location (hence the 2 stars) but there was something 'off' about the salesperson. I found him to be sarcastic, arrogant and full of hubris. I expect it's natural for a salesperson to be a bit pushy but it's been my opinion that when we focus on being of service rather than gaining financial reward everyone benefits. The Mancini's location in Sunnyvale has been there as long as I can remember. It is the only place I have ever bought a mattress over the years, so even though there are other locations closer to where I now live I headed to Mancini's Sunnyvale when I was ready to start mattress shopping. My husband hates to shop and gets overwhelmed by choices, so my first visit to Mancini's was to try to narrow down the options. Scott, the store manager, was there. He answered my questions and pointed me toward some options, based on my stated preferences. He didn't push one brand or model nor did he push his preference; Scott listened and guided me toward what made sense for me. Scott didn't exert any pressure to buy that day. He understood that I was doing the legwork before bringing my husband to the store. I made a second trip to the store two days after the first to re-visit two models I had liked. Scott was there and I was able to ask more questions about firmness options available in each model as well as pros and cons of the two different brands I was considering. I walked away with two clear contenders. I said I would be back with my husband, so Scott let me know what days he would be working. Visit number three went as smoothly as could be. I showed my husband the two models I liked best. We tested them both and made a choice. Scott was able to arrange delivery the same week and made sure we knew about their price matching and comfort guarantees. This was a zero pressure experience. Scott was there and happy to answer questions if needed, but otherwise he left us alone to look around, test the beds, and discuss what made sense for us. Scott was also very careful in terms of covid-19 protocols--he masked up and stood well away when talking to us. All of my visits were on weekdays around 11 a.m. and there were no other customers at that time, so that also helped me feel safe. The store manager here is incredibly rude, confrontational and condescending. I've heard the same from my other friends, yet I wanted to try out a mattress and I'm never going back. The day I decided to buy a mattress, I had done some research online and wanted to get a feel of some mattresses, my plan was to go to a couple places. This was the first store and I spent maybe 10 mins looking for mattresses and was about to head out when he started saying things like "Are you really sure you want to head out? You can spend entire month looking for a mattress, go to Mattress Firm and what not or you can buy a mattress here today and maybe we can work out a deal". He was speaking to me as if I committed a crime by trying out some mattresses and by the end his tone was like only dumb people go to Mattress Firm. He basically wanted me to get the hell out of there once I told him I wanted to see some other options. Who buys a mattress after 10 mins of entering a shop? He was like you can spend a lot of time researching online and other places or buy it here TODAY and get done with the hassle. A mattress purchase IS a big deal if you are buying something for the next 5-10 years, paying thousands of dollars AND don't want to end up with back issues later on. When I asked about the return policy--something I always check when buying a mattress--he immediately assumed the worst, saying, "If you're the type who's going to return a mattress after guests use it over the holidays, you should just go with our rent-to-buy program." When I said I was just starting my search and wanted to look around before deciding, he questioned, "If you're coming back, why go elsewhere first? Spend more time shopping?" He said things like "if you are not serious about buying a mattress today, you can shop somewhere else." I am positive he would not talk like that if I were a man. So glad we came to Mancini's in Sunnyvale.. our older bed was just not working for my wife and I anymore.. We walked in and were helped by RG. He's funny, helpful and showed us a lot of options. He asked us questions and gave examples of his own when it came to choosing the type of mattress and bed frame we were looking at, he even let us know about the return policy on the mattress if it didn't work out. After all of his help, he definitely helped us purchase a mattress and bed frame that same day without us having to look any further. RG was communicative even when we were outside of the store. After a bit of time, the bed we chose was not working out, RG was there to help us with trading in for our second option, and we're grateful to have met him. The delivery team could do a bit better with letting us know when the delivery time frame would be the day before.. 1st delivery, we had to message RG the day before delivery. 2nd time, the day before the 2nd delivery, we called the store before they closed, to find out. Other than that, the delivery team was fast and great! My wife and I are definitely happier with our new purchase and how everything worked out. I work with customers that feel happier after the attention and service my company and I provide.. and especially when they tell us, and it feels great...and when I'm finally on the other side of the table, where I feel the same way that our customer feels... that's the kind of customer service my wife and I were provided. Chris Berry is consistently the best!!!  We worked with Chris previously, when we purchased our first mattress.  He is very customer-service oriented, which is why we went back to him to purchase our second mattress.  We could've gone to the Mancinis in Fremont (which is closer to us) but chose to drive to Sunnyvale because I knew I could count on Chris to take good care of us and ensure that we get a great deal.   Chris is patient and answered all of our questions/concerns.  He went above and beyond to look up very detailed information and tips that increase mattress durability and assure a wonderful experience with our new mattress.  He does not have this attitude to further his sales/transactional goals. It is obvious that he does this because he cares deeply about people and wants to help (even if there isn't any personal gain for him). There was a lot of great selection for mattresses if you have an idea of what you're looking for, but as someone who wanted to check multiple stores and get an idea of what I wanted and how much I was willing to pay, I was completely put off by how pushy the sales rep was. I made it clear upon arrival we were planning on looking at more than 1 location but the rep kept pushing me to make a purchase then and there. It reminded me a lot of when I was shopping for a car and it's not a compliment, especially when I made it clear I wasn't going to commit to a purchase without looking at other stores too. By the end of it I was so uncomfortable being there that even if I had decided to buy from Mancini's (I ended up buying at Mattress Firm), I would have gone to a different location. read more

My husband and I were excited to shop for a mattress for the upcoming memorial weekend, and have previously purchased an airleloom mattress at a Mancini's location in San Jose. Based on my previous experience with the Mancini's in San Jose, which was quite pleasant and seamless, I was under the impression I would have a similar experience with the Sunnyvale location today. I was sadly mistaken. It took several minutes for my husband and I to be acknowledged. When we were finally spoken to, the representative proceeded to tell me that the mattress I had in mind was "taking up too much storage" on the sales floor. He also made the assumption that I was looking for a "cheaper" mattress and when I asked about airelooms, he mentioned "The $20,000 dollar mattresses are this way." It felt as if the representative made an assumption of what I was able to purchase rather than asking questions to uncover my needs as a customer. We ended up getting a mattress at the Santa Clara location near Winchester and promptly left after our experience at this location. We most certainly do not recommend this location based on our unsatisfactory experience today. read more

Horrible Experience - just buy online directly from the brands directly and save the pain! Long time Bay Area resident, and I needed a new mattress for my new apartment in SoCal. I went in there and told the sales folks the same and bought a new mattress same day. When I moved to the new place and found the mattress size to be a bit large, I called Mancini's to switch it to a different size (both store and online site) - and the response was: "Oops we misunderstood your move was to SoCal, and we don't serve your new location. You can drive down here with the mattress and only then we can replace"... Lesson learnt: just buy directly online from whatever brand you prefer, and avoid a super painful and miserable "customer service". Recently I bought mattress and a bed frame here. They got discounted. That was good. But quality of assembly and parts of the bed frame was not good. One of slats was heavily soiled with dirts. Assembling persons were about to put our mattress on such dirty parts. I stop it. I cleaned all the slats and sanitized them by ourselves. Other is very bad smell of chipboards put on slats. My wife slept as it was provided after cleaning slats. She had heavy headache next morning for that bad smell. She couldn't do anything on the day all day long for that bad condition. I checked all the parts. I knew that chipboards stink of chemicals. So I discarded the chipboards. After that, she slept well. In the meantime, we tried odor elimination and ventilation many times but they didn't work. I want the person here to prepare for safer quality of chipboards for future customers here. My wife and I were looking for a new mattress and stopped by Mancini's just to browse. We were looking at the Tempurpedic beds, and the manager sat behind his desk and greeted us as we walked in. He left us alone for the most part but answered our questions when we asked. We were going back and forth between two beds and asked him for his advice. He walked over to the corner of the store we were in, and gave us more information. He then asked us which of the two beds we were leaning towards and we told him which one we likes. He then abruptly walks back over to his computer, where he was earlier, and starting typing. We continue to walk around and look at beds and he calls us over and asks for a phone number for delivery. We told him we have not decided yet and were not ready to buy a bed today. The manager's face turned white, his smile quickly turned into a frown, and he did not say a word. He got up and left and started awkwardly pretending to adjust random beds in the store. It was such a strange reaction and we were flabbergasted. It was a simple misunderstanding, but he made it so weird. We just walked out because he was so rude. Two stars because they did have a good deal on Tempurpedics that other mattress stores did not and for wide selection. read more

Here was my experience: (1) 10/21/18 - Purchased a Cal King bed to be delivered next day ($3,250 spent on everything altogether) (2) Visit #1 (1 day later) - Delivery came, but lacked the right screws. Slept on the floor. (3) Visit #2 (the day after) - Team came with screws. They were the wrong screws. Slept on the floor again. (4) Visit #3 (the day after that) - Team came with correct screws. Assembled bed, but 4 parts used to cover unfinished areas in the corners were not sized properly and did not adhere. Bed remains unfinished. (5) Visit #4 (2 weeks later) - Team came to investigate parts that didn't adhere with whole new frame. That box lacked the parts. Bed remains unfinished. During this time, I sent email to support with no response, I had several calls with dispatch that indicated they would escalate to the store but never received a call back from the store. I called the store directly which results in visit #4 above. I had to call back twice but eventually got a call and they are ordering the needed parts (4 small wooden blocks). They arrived about 1-2 weeks later, however they also do not adhere; the magnets are about a half inch wider than the distance between the screws on the bed they are supposed to adhere to I'm taking videos and sending them to both Mancini's and the manufacturer. They sent other parts a week later, but they were the same misaligned ones as the originals. I had several back-and-forths over a few weeks with the salesperson who was very nice on the phone but ultimately never resolved my issue. In the end, I purchased velcro adhesives and used them to resolve the problem on my own. While I'm happy with the bed and happy with the friendliness over the phone with everyone I've talked to, and I appreciate the $300 credit for all the inconvenience, my issue was ultimately never resolved over the course of 2 months until I resolved it myself, and this whole endeavor required a significant amount of my time and energy, especially for the high price point, so I am overall an unsatisfied customer. read more

Chris Berry was legit! One of the best customer service experiences I've ever had. Came in at 1:35pm, explained my situation, he suggested a few models, found the one and was out of here by 1:58pm. A few things that I'd like to point out. There were 4 couples conctantly yelling questions across the store and the entire time he was super patient and guiding all the customers. Turned out he was short handed and handled everything with the patience of a monk. He went above and beyond and would highly recommend this place for anyone needing a new mattress. 10 star service! I have to admit I had thought that it would just be a quick price comparison before I went home to mull it over for a while (a mattress is a big decision!) As soon as I walked in the door Brandon greeted me and he was friendly and helpful throughout the whole thing. This is my first time ever buying a mattress and therefore I was incredibly indecisive and had a lot of questions. Brandon was very patient and thoroughly explained each mattress that he showed me with detail and answered all my questions for me.
