Stopped by during Presidents' Day weekend to shop for a mattress. We were highly motivated to buy something because our bed is quite old. But we were quickly turned off by the salesman who was helping us. He rushed us from the second we got there. After trying out a few beds, I wanted some time to talk it over with my husband alone and retry some of the beds at our leisure. This man would not leave us alone. After he failed to take several hints, I finally said to him "can I have some time to talk to my husband alone? We just need some time." He only left for a couple minutes and came back impatient as ever. My very patient husband said to him "we just need some more alone time to think" to which the salesman said "what's there to think about?" Well nothing now! We left right after he made that comment and went to Mancini's to drop $3k+ on a mattress. Thanks for making that decision much easier for us. I first bought beds from Mattress Firm in SF back in 2018 and although the buying experience last time was not so stellar, I know Mattress Firm is reliable for variety and fast delivery. I went in crossing my fingers that we'd get a good sales associate. When we entered Deanna immediately greeted us and offered to help us find what we were looking for, she even looked up what kind of mattress we bought in 2018 to help us calibrate what we wanted. We started with a basic test of soft, medium, and firm then went on to test the different materials - spring, latex, memory foam, gel grid, and hybrid. Deanna was very patient with us as we went back and forth to find our perfect match. We ended up choosing a TempurPedic LuxeAdapt mattress and after a short demo of the adjustable base we also got one of those to go with our new fancy mattress. Sales people are commission based. Hard sell on latex pillow, couldn't use it because it emitted noxious fumes. Was told my car interior is made of the same material and the fumes dissipate over time. The sales person was shocked I only tried it for a week. Could smell the fumes through the pillow protector and sheet. Nasty, got a headache from sleeping on it after a night. Salesperson told me the employees in the factory where they make the pillows don't wear masks because the material is so safe and doesn't emit harmful fumes. Salesperson lies by fabricating information. She said they didn't have any. Went to the shelf and found one with polyester fiberfill. Allowed me to return it finally. One return per order. Not going back, buying from costco from now on. Not worth dealing with staff who lies. They control the sales process and can easily upsell you into a product which costs you more without telling you a lower price option exists. read more

The delivery service is horrible. I took the day off of work, rearranged furniture in anticipation for the arrival of my new mattress. The driver called me to ask me how he could get into the security gate. I let him know he , along with anyone in the truck would just need to present their id at the guard gate. I waited and after 20 minutes no one arrived I called the cell number the driver called me on several times , no answer. I then contacted the mattress firm 800# to ask for assistance. They attempted to contact the warehouse to see the status of the delivery and they go no answer. The driver had noted they were unable to deliver because they couldn't get through the gate. So either their deliver drivers are driving around with no id or they didnt want to put in the effort of getting through the security gate. No one at Mattresses Firm ever reached out to apologize for the inconvenience or the poor customer service. A day off work completely wasted read more

They have a friend and family sale with 20% off, and the sale told me the price they listed is not the original price but it is the price after 20% off....and he can offer me an extra 20% off on top of 20%, so it is 40% off. I purchased a memory foam mattress (Tulo) from this store and they gave me a really good deal. They helped me out very well in getting the right mattress. My wife had some backache during the first 5-7 days after using the mattress and then sometimes it used to pain and sometimes it didn't. It was very comfortable for me though. After a little more than 4 months, my wife started getting a really bad backache when she woke up and we realized that it's the mattress which is not at all working out for her. The mattress came with 120 nights of trial. I gave them a call and explained my situation. The store manager considered my situation and helped me out even though it was a few days out of the trial of 120 days and gave me the chance to exchange it with a mattress which is of same cost or higher. I exchanged it with a firm spring mattress and it is working out very well for both of us. I am giving 4 stars because I think their delivery experience can be improved. They need to communicate better if something has gone wrong. My delivery slot for the new mattress was 8 30 am - 10 30 am and it showed 9 45 am - 10 15 am as their ETA online. The truck broke down and I wasn't notified at all. They just kept delaying the ETA and whenever I called they said it should be there any minute. Finally it arrived at 1 pm and I was then informed that the truck broke down and they transferred it to the different truck. It's completely fine and something can go wrong I understand but they atleast need to update/call me. read more

---DELIVERY SUCKS---They treat you differently if you dont pay the original price---sale is not sale----I am frustrated--- After reading some other reviews for sleep train MTV and sunnyvale, apparently their delivery system sucks. I don't blame the sales. They are good people. But their delivery promise cannot come true--Feeling so unhappy that I am trying to find a place for me to sleep for tomorrow night at 2AM in the morning. I don't know if they can finally deliver a mattress. They have some but don't want to give to me because I got a deal... Scheduled delivery on Friday. Cleaned my room and shipped my old mattress&bed away on Thursday. They gave me a very solid promise. I asked which day it could be delivered, is Friday possible? The sales said a solid Yes. She told me that the delivery team would call me later to schedule a 2 hour window. And they would call me again when they were on they way to my home. I worked very close to home. So it sounded so good. I was so foolish that I even asked the friend who was going to take my old mattress to come on Thursday to take it away... Called the store on Thursday afternoon. They asked me to wait to 6:30PM. Okay, skipped the 7:30 yoga class and waited for the appointment call until nearly 8PM. Then I called the store and was told that the mattress was actually miles away in the warehouse because of the weather. The delivery was cancelled on Wed but they did not bother to let me know until I called them Thursday night. Then only offered to deliver next Friday because I purchased a good deal. If I wanted to keep the price, I needed to wait for that far away piece. All other local "same" ones could not be given to me. I understood that the unusual storm made delivery difficult, but no way to delay for a week when you still offer same day delivery to customers. Next Friday did not work for me either because I have my travel plan... I was shocked. I know that it was not the sales fault but certainly some solution should be offered. I asked if they could relocate some other mattress nearby or let me something, better than sleep on the floor during such rainy weather. Got refused. Finally after a lot of argument, I was offer a same mattress nearby but need to pay $70 extra. If I want to keep the same price, I need to wait for a week. And as they know, I could not get the same deal quickly because the President Day sale was over. "Pay more or wait for a week!", as I was told. They gave me an impression that because I got a price match, a good deal, I deserved to be treated like this. Plus: The delivery window would change from 2 hour window 7AM-7PM to 1PM-9PM. I asked that I scheduled something for the evening, could you try to make it earlier? The sales said that you basically should wait at home, that is how delivery works... I know there is a price war between mattress shops. And I am happy to pay you extra than others to support local stores. You may just straightly tell me that you could not sell at such a low price and ask me to pay some extra hundreds. I would accept it as I understand running a business in California with high sale tax is so difficult. I did not force you to sell to me. Actually you guys did not complain anything and said yes immediately when I offered this price. You were happy to sell to me and I was happy to purchase. It was a very bad way to do business like this... Make promise and sell at low price, then delay the delivery after they swipe their card. There should be no reason to treat me badly just because I got a good President Day deal. Otherwise please never offer price match or holiday sale. Now I am really worried that if they would keep the promise to give me the same mattress on Friday. And really worried that if it would be the same quality as the sample I tried at the store. I'm not quite a fan, but SleepTrain made good on their word. The problem I initially experienced lies with the manufacturer's (Sealy) quality control. Know that if you are buying a bed it's a bit like a used car sales tactics most anywhere you go. Commission. Tried several places. The quality of construction (despite individually wrapped coils and foam padding) has come down while the price has gone up. The falling value of the dollar. And despite cutting costs, I've since learned several USA bed manufacturers are in Chapter 11. In my experience SleepTrain was the easiest to deal with of three major chains. And if you have any doubts with quality of your bed when delivered (wrong size was our problem) it is your right to refuse the bed at delivery. They will try to foist it on you and rush off, it's your legal right to inspect bed (unwrapped is fine) measure and if not okay, refuse the delivery, not sign. Several beds were off by 4"-6" and returned. The sales guy wasn't great, but he left us alone. Lol. (he was busy creating fake yelp accounts to bolster reviews and I don't think he thought we were serious customers). The other sales guy when we called to refuse a bed, was a jerk, but we got around him. Delivery guys were cool and on top of things. And Dist. Manager did contact me to try to make it right. Oh and know that most of the reviews on here, especially the ones praising sales are fake. read more

My boyfriend and I went to Mancini's Sleepworld, Mattress Discounters, and this particular Sleep Train in search of our new mattress. Sleep Train was actually the last place we went to, and it's the one we bought our mattress from. The guy helping us (Corey) was the most knowledgeable and least pushy salesperson out of all the places (read my review of Mancini's for a comparison). He was very forthcoming with the mattress line comparison - how the same exact mattress is relabeled different thing for different chains. The mattress was delivered the day after we bought it, on a Sunday. Sleep Train carries all the same brands and lines as the other two chains, but they are the only ones who carry the Simmons Beautyrest "Black" line. They also offer a 90-day price guarantee - so if they have a discount anytime in the next 3 months I can come in to get a price adjustment. I'll be sure to update this after Memorial Day weekend in May to see if it's true. (It's very likely the other chains also have this, but I wasn't interested enough to ask.) My only complaint is with the delivery. I had scheduled the delivery for 12-4, but the delivery guys started calling me at 8am. They wanted to drop the mattress off at 10 because they were in the neighborhood and didn't want to come back in my direction. Isn't that their job though? I have to give the delivery guys props for carrying a king sized mattress up 2 flights of stairs, but they weren't particularly careful with it. The mattress bag ripped in several places and the mattress has noticeable black marks (including several black fingerprints) on it. But I have a king sized mattress on the 3rd floor and I didn't have to carry it myself, so in the end it's all good. read more

I got a message from someone complaining about my previous post. I will admit, that if I had marked my calendar 3 years out and paid the entire amount before that calendar date appeared, then I would not have been charged 452% (by the way, the main typo in the previous was $2k on a $750 bed, not the opposite. Readers: please excuse my rage and quick posting style previously. At the same time, companies should not enrage us, right?). I will also say that I fully believe the intent (therefore the "scam") was to charge that 452%, which is why Sleep Train was fully unapologetic when I called. Most companies respect their customers more than letting a one week lapse after 3 years screw them over. I imagine there were high fives all around. With that said, I needed another bed. (yes, 5 years old, the bed had caved in, enough to kill our backs but not enough to trigger the warranty coverage, according to sleep train). Ignoring that warranty issue (I'll be nice here and blame the manufacturer), 2 problems arose: First, she told me I didn't buy my mattress from sleep train. Apparently I "bought it" from a company the owner also owned, I won't speculate as to why (make your own conclusions). Yes, it was a Sleep Train store, but they charged the revenue to a different LLC. She acknowledged that it happens, as both are owned and addressed the same, and shouldn't make a difference. Creepy. Second, she was a terrible salesperson. She was not helpful at all (seemed very unknowledgeable), and refused to give any sort of price breaks, even if we paid the entire balance immediately (our plan due to the interest rate snafu previously. End of story: we went over to Mancini's Sleep World, got great customer service, and an AWESOME deal on a great bed that we absolutely love. Bought a Tempurpedic bed and was promised delivery the next day between a ridiculously long window of 1-9pm(really??). Who gives out those wide open windows nowadays?? It's like my time is not important. So, I stayed home from work all day so not to miss the delivery. It's now 9pm. Called the store 2 times during the day and once at 830pm. Was told that the window has now changed to 730 - 930pm. What?! Really??!! No one called me; I had to call the store 3 times to get that update. Driver was also supposed to call 45 mins before arriving. No call either. Well, I'm certainly glad that I'm only buying one mattress from this place. They definitely need to revisit their supply chain/delivery model. It's broken for sure. Unbelievable. Update: just got a call from the driver at 9:10pm. He said that he will arrive in another 30mins or so. He asked if I wanted to reschedule. Really?! So take off another day and wait all day once again? NO, thank you! It was my first time looking for a new bed, my husband and I stopped in to look around. The lady that helped us, showed us all the different types of mattresses, which was helpful. We still wanted to look at other places before we made a decision. The same lady said I could put down a $35 deposit to hold the one we liked, and was guaranteed the sale price until the end of the month. If I wanted to buy it, call and they will finish the order. If not, I can get a refund. Sounds easy right? Nope!!! The very next morning, while I am at work, I get a call from a delivery guy with a 510 number, saying my mattress was on its way, and will be at my house in 2 hours. I frantically called my husband, and told him to call sleep train, to tell them we never ordered the bed. At this point, I was furious. I was checking my checking account all day, to make sure they hadn't charged me for the full price. He said they would cancel the order. At that point, I thought we were good. Nope!!! Again, the next day, got a call from a 510 number, at work, saying they were delivering my bed. Wtf?! I once again, called my husband, told him to call. They said they will cancel the order. Ok, this is getting ridiculous. I told him to tell them to give me a refund. I thought everything was over. Nope!!!! A few days later, as I am walking into work, I get a call from sleep train, saying my bed was there and was ready for pick up. Ok, what the hell??? I called them back immediately, and said I had never ordered the bed, we called twice, asked for a refund. I never said I wanted the bed. I only said I liked it. The old lady on the phone was trying to process my return. She had no idea what she was doing. She asked me to repeat my information 3 times. And I said I am late for work, can you process my refund, and email me a receipt. She said that's fine. I hung up. Wow, 3 weeks later, no refund. I called today, a guy answered, (thank god, all the women there are very incompetent). Told him I wanted a refund, instantly said it is on its way. Boom. Done. Everyone, including the company, except for the younger guy working today, should be fired. I should not have felt that pressured, nothing should have been ordered unless I signed something saying I wanted it, which I never did!!!! This place is so unprofessional. I will never recommended anyone going here. Go to Costco, which is what I did. And found a much better bed, for less then half the price. I would rather deal with Comcast customer service daily, then deal with sleep train ever again. read more

Went to Sleep World and Sleep Train to comparison shop, etc. I guess Tempur-Pedic is the Chanel of beds, because apparently none of the stores are allowed to discount the beds. Their only way to compete is to sell it to you tax free and throw in some other goodies. Went into Sleep Train after having been at Sleep World where they offered no tax on the bed -- Bob was the salesperson. He was really nice and sweetened the deal by adding in a bunch of extras on top of the tax free. I seriously didn't think I was going to end up buying the mattress that day because I wanted to look other places/think before dropping that much money on a mattress. But.... ended up buying it and they delivered it the next day! On the downside, when it arrived it was damaged, but they were totally set on making the situation right and replaced it in 24 hours. If you are looking for a Tempur-Pedic, I would go here and see what they'll give you to get you as a client. If you're interested in any other mattress, I'm sure they'll beat anyone's price and then some. Major plus: They give you a 100 day guarantee - if you don't like the mattress, you can return it for a full refund or exchange up to 100 days after purchase. read more

He was very helpful in laying out all of our options and gave us the "real talk" about what we needed or could afford to pay less for. He even ended up throwing in the metal frame for free! Delivery was later that day (free of course), and when I told the drivers we were going out to dinner, they said they could work around us and came a little later than planned. I came in looking for a bed and David was really helpful and friendly. He is very experienced and knows his products well. He knew when to give you space and to let you try things on your own. I walked in on a Saturday knowing almost certainly that I would buy a replacement Simmons bed. I was one of two customers, with three salesmen working. So, I was whisked right away to the Simmons section. The salesman (Douglas) listened to what I said and didn't try to steer me to something I didn't want. Instead, he explained the pros of the bed I chose and helped confirm that they had the best price for what I wanted. We compared the bed I chose to some other brands at my request, and I confirmed that the Simmons is the one I wanted. They had some freebees available with the purchase. Some I wanted (frame/delivery), some I didn't want (pad, pillows). They offered me credit towards a better frame with the freebees I didn't want. While I like the bed, I always fear that they are going to discount the bed soon after I buy. They reminded me of their 100 day price match, so I may pop in during Labor Day sale to see if the bed is on sale. However, I had good experiences with Sleep Train in the past, so I will "rest easy", as their jingle goes. Overall, thanks Douglas for making the trip easy and painless. read more

We live on a Military base which requires everyone to show ID when entering the base. The first delivery attempt the driver didn't have their license. No one calls, they just didn't show up. Two days later, the same thing happens again. Mattress firm called me and promised it would be resolved and delivered in two more days. Two days later the driver calls me at work saying he doesn't have his license and needs me to drive the truck on base for him. I say I am at work (My mother is at home to take delivery but can't drive a truck.) and they need to get a licensed driver and delivery the mattress. Mattress Firm calls me that night and days the driver said I refused delivery and that I wasn't available to take delivery. I tell them the driver is lying to then, but they don't want to acknowledge that. I cancelled my order and will take my business elsewhere. read more

I went to this store to find a supportive mattress for my newly rented home. Both the salesman Dan and store manager David helped me went through a number of mattresses and told me how to choose mattress. They are extremely helpful and patient, and they let me try almost all the mattresses in the store. At the end, I made my purchase here and got a really nice deal. I did not check other stores but I definitely have a very nice buying experience here. Did I mention this place has free shipping as well! I feel very happy because I found a very comfortable mattress at a very good price, plus the service is very good. Tips: Let them guide you through the mattresses. They will let you try from firm to soft so that you get a sense what is best for you. If you have time, you can go though most of the mattresses. The most important thing is you feel comfortable. I think it is worthwhile to spend more money on a good mattress because it lasts very long and it can benefit you every single night unless you will need to relocate soon. The price difference amortized to every day is nothing. On the other hand, do not over-pay for a more expensive mattress if you can not feel the difference. read more
