When the order is wrong, they DO NOT accommodate the customer! Customer service is everything and that's not their top priority/concern.

The service was prompt, courteou, and friendly. We had sushi that was so very fresh, just delicious. I had the dinner combination which was wonderful. Since we had just come in from a 2 hour drive we appreciated the sparkling clean bathrooms as well. This was a great place to have nice meal. read more

Doesn't feel like a small town restaurant, but definitely locally owned and operated. Food is always fresh and usually quick. Don't be deceived by the name of the pan-fried noodles - comes with pork, chicken, shrimp and 'crab', as well as veggies, all stir fried tableside in a sizzling cast iron pan. Delicious! Great food and great service! Love the decor and lighting. Our waitress was very on top of everything and also had a fabulous sense of humor. Our food came quickly and was beautifully presented. My husband had several different sushi rolls and they were much better than another place we'd tried recently. I got the Kung bo chicken and our son had the orange chicken. We ate here a few days ago and we were blown away. Our waitress Annie, I believe is her name was fast, attentive, and kind to our party of 7. She was quick to fill drinks and offer extra plates for my smaller children, like she could read my mind! Also, my oldest is allergic to shellfish, but he really wanted sushi (a rare treat for him), she made sure to inform the chef of my sons allergy and came back to tell me he made sure to use all fresh and clean items to prepare my sons roll. My son left full and healthy!! (Thanks chef!) The prices were a bit shocking, but the portions and quality showed us why. We were expecting small plates of what we ordered but instead were given massive mounded servings of everything. The crab Rangoon (cream cheese wonton w/crab) were probably the best I've ever had. The orange chicken and tiny spicy chicken were both amazingly delicious! I really can't tell you what I'll get next time, because there will absolutely be a next time! This place is a wonderful spin off of The Wok. The place is the most beautiful Asian resturant in the area. The ambiance is truly on point. Perfect for that first date or just that time alone away from the kids for just an hour or so. The food is equally matched to The Wok except for the egg rolls. My husband ordered dinner during a weeknight. One entree two egg rolls. Our total is always $20.84. He went to pick it up as usual. He gave them our bank card, and left with our food. When he got home, we discovered instead of giving us our order, they'd given us a different order. Two entrees, two egg rolls, and shrimp fried rice. All food was cold and egg rolls were so greasy, they weren't edible. One of the entrees was thrown away next day, as we don't like it. It resembled buffet food that has been sitting out for hours. Beef broccoli should never look like that. The other entrée, tiny spicy chicken was OK but certainly not what we ever choose. Immediately he called the restaurant and told them they had given us the wrong order and basically their response was OK. Never an offer to make this right in any way. I thought oh well be gracious move on. Then I saw the next day where they had charged us for the dinner. But it was not our order, but was the other person's order, more than two times the price of what we ordered. Our total should have been $20.84 they charged us $51.02. This is very poor business practice indeed. When you screw up, you should make it right. They could very easily give us a gift card or certificate for $51 that we could use there. I won't be spending my money here anymore. read more

I was surprised nobody was in restaurant when I went tonight at 8:00pm. The service was good. I had the Shrimp with Garlic sauce it was delicious. I was not impressed with the wine selections. Sutters home for everything. Except the Pinot Grigio. I ordered the Santa Margherita. I was shocked at the price they charged for the glass of wine $12.00. I'm temporarily living in Alexandria for work. The first time I ordered from here, I ordered the Mongolian beef and it wasn't great. It was barely good. It was super saucy and way, waaaay too many yellow onions (cause they're cheap.) However, I decided to try the sushi this time and it more than made up for the other dish. Mandarin doesn't seem like much when you pull in the parking lot. However, after you step inside, you are transported to a high class restaurant! Always clean, always friendly, Mandarin has a ton of choices from fresh sushi, to delectable Chinese dishes. They're known for their tiny spicy chicken which is delicious! I also enjoy the chicken & broccoli for a regular dish. I've tried so many sushi rolls. All have been delicious and fresh. No complaints. The crab cucumber salad is fantastic as well as spring rolls! A lot of my review decision has to do with the decor of the restaurant. Alexandria has very few intimate eating experiences. When nearly all of the major options are fast food/chains, a local business offering a fine dining experience is much appreciated. The food is very similar to Oriental Wok and it is not mind-blowing, nor is it terrible. The prices are great; a lot of food can be ordered for little money. We started with crab and cream cheese stuffed wontons, and they were ok. Tasted like any Chinese crab rangoon. I ordered the orange beef, which was amazing! It had large chunks of orange peel and peppers. Great flavor profile! My wife got the orange chicken, and while it tasted good she was leary of the meat. It didn't look like chicken, kind of like pork. That made her mind immediately go to the horrifying Chinese restaurant stories.....cat....dog. Our total came to $38.
