This restaurant is hands down one of the best food spots I've ever been to. Every time I go, the food is absolutely delicious -- no matter what I order. I usually try something different each visit, and I've never been disappointed. One thing I always recommend is their crab cream cheese wontons -- they're the best in town, perfectly crispy and full of flavor. The menu has a great variety of options, so there's always something new to try, whether you're in the mood for something comforting or bold. The staff is super friendly and welcoming. I'm pretty sure the owner works there too because they always greet customers personally, which really makes you feel at home. They were more than accommodating and welcoming and even let us stay a little later considering the funeral viewing ended a little later than expected. Garbage! I'm not one to complain. I can eat bland food and doctor it up but this was so awful. A waste of money. Noodles had a raw dough flavor. Rice had no flavor. No chopped vegetables or meat in it. So bland. Teriyaki sauce was so salty. I asked for a side of it to dip my egg rolls. They weren't very good at all. The five chicken entrees I received all taste so similar. Just slightly different sauce on them. Over cooked till it's dry and stringy chicken. I've been here a few times through out the years and this is the worst I ever had from them. I ate maybe a third of my order and through the rest away. A waste of time and money. I was hungry for something simple and happened to pass by this restaurant. I decided on some egg rolls, I ended up buying 3!!! I really enjoyed these egg rolls, they weren't too oily, and had a great fill! One thing I will mention is how crunchy they were!! I loved them and will going back for more. For dipping sauces I got the sweet sauce and Sriracha, and they were not stingy with the sauces!!! The restaurant is still a bit old style but that means the food is great!! read more

Run, DO NOT WALK to the delicious Chinese food spot!!! This place is a hidden gem in East Bakersfield with massive portions, low prices, and amazing flavors! I cannot stress this place enough on how amazing it is. Panda express can't even compare. Went on a Sunday night at 6 and it was a little busy as to be expected for dinner time, everything was so fresh and so flavorful. The portions were MASSIVE, they don't cheap out on their food. While the interior was a little sticky like previous reviewers have mentioned that didn't ruin the experience. Give them a try, you won't be disappointed. read more

My goodness, the portions! You get your money's worth! The food is your standard Chinese-American fast food. They mostly have a variety of chicken dishes though I wish they had more meat selections. I always get the same thing anyway: 3-item combo with coconut shrimp, orange chicken and bbq pork. Save your appetite 'cause this will be enough for your breakfast lunch and dinner. Oh and it's very reasonably priced. I've also converted a number of people from Panda Express lovers to Mandarin Express. read more

This is my moms favorite Chinese fast food. The food is affordable and worth the price. The chow mein is alright but the rice is good. I enjoyed the Kung pao chicken. I had this sweet chicken (good) However the person before had a huge portion and we were left with a small portion and only the scraps left from the chicken. read more

Used to be really good. Went there yesterday. 3/14/2022. Not good. Chow main was dry , no flavor. Sweet & sour chicken was good . White meat. So that's always good. But the rest of the chicken was not good. The bbq pork was so fatty you couldn't eat it . I brought it home and gave everything to the dogs except the crab cream cheese wontons. They are still the best in Bakersfield. But I probably won't be going back. I'll be looking for a new place for when I am on the east side now read more

Mandarin Express is the spot better than any other Chinese fast food restaurant. I had the Combo C which is Chow Mein with Garlic Chicken (I prefer garlic chicken over their orange chicken), and their coconut shrimp is the best I just wish they had there sauce cooked with it instead of just adding it on top but it's still good and their beef and broccoli (I honestly didn't care for the beef cause all I wanted was the broccoli. My partner had Combo C which is Chow Mein with Garlic Chicken, Spicy Chicken (which he said is really spicy) and coconut shrimp. It is your moneys worth when they pack it up with food. The Service on the other hand is always great and they keep us very clean and im just saying this is a win win over Panda Express. read more

Nothing particularly stood out to me... I wouldn't really recommend the orange chicken. I like my orange chicken with some sauce on it... Theirs had no sauce? Weird. The egg rolls were good. One thing it was though... Was cheap. $4.59 for a 2item combo drink included. I'll probably come back when I want Chinese food and am in a pinch. If I have money though.. This place is cash only! I came here after I saw a co-worker eating take out from this place at our office. First of all, they have chicken on a stick and it is probably what I will order every time I go there because it is that delicious! I also love their flavorful chow mein! Another thing that really sells this place for me is how friendly the staff is! I don't just mean they were polite. I found them to be downright pleasant to talk to! I came here with the understanding that this is not really a Chinese restaurant but an Americanized Chinese restaurant. I was not going to get real Chinese food which is ok. My first issue was they had a 1 combo but it was not a combo it just came with one item and rice, no drink included, so I got a 2 item combo which included a drink. So I got the chicken mushroom which was fine and a beef and broccoli. I think he have me 4 small pieces of bed and there rest broccoli. I mean come on at least give a decent amount of beef.
