I have food allergies, and they went out of their way to accommodate my dietary needs, which I greatly appreciated. It's not always easy to find a restaurant that takes allergies seriously, and their willingness to help made the entire dining experience stress-free and enjoyable. The food was fresh, flavorful, and generously prepared. The lemon chicken was a standout dish--the chicken was tender and crispy, coated in a bright, tangy lemon sauce that was perfectly balanced between sweet and citrusy. I also really enjoyed the chow mein, which was packed with flavor and had a great texture with perfectly cooked noodles and vegetables. The chicken and vegetables dish was another favorite, featuring tender chicken and fresh, crisp vegetables in a light, savory sauce that let the ingredients shine. While the fried rice wasn't my personal favorite, the quality of the service more than made up for it. I had heard about this place, and so we decided after living in the area to go by there and have lunch. The place is a small storefront on niles. It's pretty simple, basic furnishings, nothing fancy at all. It looks like it can use some upting inside. But I was more focused on trying the food because I had heard that it was good. The staff that took our order was kind. The food menu gave options of different combinations. We chose combination a for both of our meals. I ordered double charmaine and the steamed vegetables. The other order was chow, main rice and orange chicken. We found a table and had a seat. And when we got our food, the first thing we noticed, was when we opened the takeout box container to eat, was an odor of something being overcooked like a kind of charred smell. After taking our first bite, it was noticeably that the chomain had like a burnt smell and taste. I don't know if this is the way they normally cook.Their noodle, or if they had actually overcooked it, and just was serving it? I tried putting soy sauce on it to try to see if that made it better.It did not. The Orange Chicken was just okay. The vegetables were okay, but I basically threw the entire container in the trash after eating a few of the vegetables. I did not tell the attendant anything about the taste of the food or our experience. I was just too mentally exhausted that day to post a complaint and try to figure out what else I could order. So sad to say everything I had heard about this place was completely wrong.The food is not good at all.And I will never return. So my suggestion is, if you want fast Chinese food, there's a place up the street that is way better. My frisbee team was in Bakersfield for southwest college regionals, and we were looking to get some grub after our games. luckily we found the best Chinese food in town, Feng Lin's. immediately we were greeted with utmost hospitality from the owner, who didn't mind a group of 20 college kids coming in at once. we spoke to her about why we were in Bakersfield, and she gave us free spring rolls and fortune cookies. my fortune cookie said "your next big idea is waiting for you". The next day, I got an email saying my research paper had been accepted for publication. I'm so glad for the time we spent and Feng Lin's. She even gave us all the leftover food upon closing down, and we ate it the next day at the end of the tournament. When we came in tonight, there was a family of three dining in, a Person ordering for themselves, and another that walked in just after us. We ordered 2 "combo Bs" which come with the choice of fried or steamed rice and chow mein, plus 2 entree items. The entrees all appeared rather fresh, and the prep area and counter along the entrees were very clean. The employee helping us was a bit short with us as to want to get to the next Person ASAP. We added an order of wontons and a small egg flower soup. We paid $22 and some change for all that (with no drink), and they were out of egg flower soup. I thought we would only be waiting nothing more than 5 min, but ended up waiting nearly 15 min for it while the rest of the food got cold. The owner was there cleaning, and reassured us that our wait wouldnt be much longer. The place was clean, the food was very tasty and fresh, and the cost wasn't terrible. The wait time for the soup, and the fact that they charge for refills on drinks is enough to lose a couple stars. I mean, who charges for refills? read more
